Via Elisa was a wonderful place for homemade sauces and pasta. I think it would be hard to fill the void. I just found out they closed when I am thinking about going back to this place.

We were planning on having company and I started to reminisce about my days of serving fresh pasta from one of the local pasta stores back in my days in Queens. I never really thought about it but it was kind of a tradition for us to start a special meal with a nice baked manicotti, stuffed shells or some other pasta. On a whim, I googled pasta stores in Atlanta and it came up with Via Elisa. I never in a million years thought it was accurate and really thought it was just a pasta restaurant. I clicked on the link anyway and to my delight it was indeed a pasta store. I was so excited I couldn’t wait to get there to see what selections they were offering that day. I wound up with a ½ pound each of the porcini mushroom, spinach and three cheese ravioli and also purchased two of their homemade sauces. Let me tell you everyone enjoyed this part of the meal, most came back for seconds and there was some very temporary leftovers. We will definitely be back to sample more of their delicious homemade pastas. Part of me still can’t believe that this place really exists and it isn’t just in my mind. I’m not even a big pasta eater these days but am ready to go back and get some more!

This is a five star place… It’s a place I normally take home and cook. But it’s a hard place to categorize. I sometimes walk down to get a sandwich for lunch but that’s not their real gig. They are much more than that. They have some great meats and cheeses. Ta boot, many upstanding restaurants around town use their products(pasta, sauces and more). This is a great secret.

I won’t be able to go back to the stuff from a box(thanks, Melissa I!) Once you try Via Elisa’s pastas, you enter into a new dimension of perfect semolina that will embrace you and never let go. Next time you want to get a self-pampering meal, or you have guests you want to impress, head to this wonderful place. Rejoiced, Ryan and I left with a swinging bag of goodies that included leek cannelloni, half-a-pound of Italian spicy pepperoni and a to-die-for Irish Cheddar infused in red wine. While I was in the store, I tried their rosemary flat bread with prosciutto and parmiggiano reggiano, and spent glorious minutes chewing that little piece of Italian heaven lent to the ATL. All these have a price: this is an expensive place. Even though, who cares when you’re «investing» on an exceptional, sensory-pleasing and flavorful experience? This is not your day-to-day shopping for food. That is great since there is nothing better than daydreaming about treating yourself next Saturday with Via Elisa’s delicacies. Also, they run out of products pretty quickly, so you might want to call them to order your pasta a day in advance. Post-Valentine’s madness left Ryan and I with very limited options. Service is fine, and they’re a little dry but helpful. As I’m writing this review, I’m having the leftovers of the cannelloni, with a little of Ryan’s arrabiata sauce(mmmmm, my dUde surely knows how to hit the kitchen), and all taste like heaven. The pasta is delicate and flavorful which make absolute sense since they use 100% organic flours, 100% organic semolina, and eggs from free-range hens… in other hand, the leek and ricotta filling is like a foamy, creamy soufflee… almost impossible to describe! (Now back to my cannelloni, yum, yum!)

Excellent fresh pasta. There is no comparison with supermarket pasta.(Though you definitely pay more for the good stuff.) They also have excellent imported meats such as prosciutto and serrano. Its a great part of the Atlanta food scene.

A huge fan of their stuffed pastas — these are also available in the Midtown Whole foods, if you can’t make it to her store, and don’t want to wait for on-line. The owner and Via Elisa were highlighted several times on The Food Network and her pasta is authentic and uses top notch ingredients — it also tastes great, and is capable as an entrée. For this I give her Teh Five. About the $$$$: whoo nelly — me and old girl counted the ravioli out like two thieves splitting rubies. Kidding — but it ain’t cheap.
