I’ve been here two times with my fiancé and each time we’ve really enjoyed it. The wine is great and the flatbread pizza is even better. Since there are so many options, we usually pick a few we like and then do the obligatory«dump the decision on the server bit». Lucky for us, we had the same guy both times and he was awesome(I should really remember his name but I can’t for some reason). Instead of upselling us on things, he was clear with«oh, you want that!» or, «well, fine if you want that go for it, but I can’t recommend it. C’mon!»(that was in response to me and my weird tastes hah). OH: and because this guy was so awesome, we were talked into trying the«Baked Cheese and Tomato» starter. Holy crap, talk about mind-blowing goodness. It’s a «warm goat cheese nestled in creamy tomato bisque with toasted garlic bread»(taken from their menu. At first glance, I would have never tried it but since he was on a roll of course we were going to listen to him! Finally, we didn’t realize there was a Scoutmob deal the first time we went. He up and just gave it to us. So of course, because of his sheer awesomeness, I left a tip of $ 15(the moola that he saved us by giving us that). In short: great food, great booze, great service. What more can you ask for?

I’m a proud Scoutmobber, so I’m sad that this place is just another«meh» restaurant that I wasn’t too excited about saving money on. The wine list is not very good. The turkey, pear and brie flatbread was a great concept, but there were small slices of pear and the turkey looked like it came from an oscar meyer pack(sorry to be harsh). The servers were nice and I felt like I was taken care of. They have«wine down wed» where you can try several flatbreads(placed out on a table like a buffet, which is a little odd) and hummus along with several flights of wine, so it’s actually a good deal. I didn’t try it so I can’t attest to the quality. It does have a great ambiance so I might try it again and order something different since it seems a lot of people do enjoy the flatbreads. It’s a good concept, but the chain restaurant business tends to kill these types of things.

I am so glad this placed re-opened! I love the space, so open and inviting and the food is awesome! Flat bread with steak, blue cheese and a drizzle of balsamic, yum! We had a groupon, so that was an extra plus, but you can also go on one of their specialty nights to save some money.

I found Urban Flats on Scoutmob and went on a whim. On a Sunday night, the place was mostly empty. We got seated and service promptly. Our waiter was nice and attentive. I got the Black and Blue flat and my friend the spicy shrimp and chorizo. The waiter warned us(when questioned) that spicy didn’t really mean spicy so we asked them to up the heat level a bit. That didn’t really happen … but it rarely does. We got the food in a reasonable amount of time. My flat was good but not special. Same for the not-really-spicy shrimp and chorizo flat. Overall, we had a nice night(no complaints on service or otherwise) and enjoyed markedly normal flatbread pizza. I can’t say that I recommend it except if you are using the scoutmob. The restaurant doesn’t meet my prices vs food quality cut-off. One thing I learned, flatbread pizzas don’t heat up well in the microwave. You better eat that thing in one sitting.

Mediocre food and TERRIBLE service. Went with a large group, BUT on a Tuesday night we might have been one of only a handful of tables in the place. Even so, drinks were never refilled, some never came, Coffee served with no sugar, etc. And they added a 20% grat! For what, I’m unsure. Will not be returning.

So many different kinds of flatbreads and thanks to our server’s recommendations, we ended up w/some great choices. We had a party of 3, ordered 3 flatbreads, and did some sharing. MOROCCANFLAT — $ 9 This was the group favorite. Loved the sweet & spicy flavors, and it came w/curried chicken, parmesan cheese, mozzarella cheese, red onions, Kalamata olives, and diced red peppers. Yum. CALIFORNIANFLAT — $ 10 I don’t remember all the ingredients but recall raspberry jam and candied walnuts. This one was pretty good, too. CASHEWCHICKENFLAT — $ 9.50 This one reminded me of California Pizza Kitchen’s Thai Chicken Pizza. I recall hoisin sauce and cashews. Also very good. Very nice host, server was nice too but not good w/drink refills. I’d definitely come back to try the other flatbreads — but there’s a good chance I might get the Moroccan Flat again :) Thanks to Scoutmob for reminding me about this place. FYI — parking in the garage next door is free w/validation.

My draft review while me and my gal pal from Orlando was at the bar experiencing such great and handsome bartender service did not save and I can’t remember his name… he looks like he should be doing the Calvin Klein underwear ads! On top of the great pairing and tasting he provided us, and the great accommodation for my Hummus preference, it was the best place to be in the middle of daytime rainstorm. I appreciate when businesses offer parking validation, its a nice seal on a good time. Even the Opertions Manager introduced himself and offer us another wine tasting… this was my first time visting and decided it will be our weekly happy hour spot.

I was prompted to check out Urban Flats thanks to a Living Social deal. The restaurant faces Piedmont and is across Main Street from Taco Mac. There aren’t any good places to park very close to the restaurant, but there is ample parking available in the deck. The food and service was very good. The restaurant specializes in flatbreads so we decided to stick with flats, but they do have other options available such as sandwiches, salads, and non-flat entrees. We relied heavily on our server’s recommendations and she did a great job. Appetizer: * Flat dips — Warm flatbread served with 4 different spreads. Three of the spreads were hummus and the 4th spread was an olive tapenade. The 3 types of hummus were honey walnut, roasted red pepper, and I can’t remember the third. They were all good, but I was a huge fan of the honey walnut. It’s somewhat sweet and while sweet hummus sounds kinda strange, it was very tasty. Don’t worry if you don’t like walnuts. I couldn’t taste any. The olive tapenade had a very intense olive flavor. I thought it was too intense, but I don’t like olives so don’t take this with a grain of salt. Flats: The flatbreads are like thin crust pizzas. The bread is thin, but not crispy and was made with whole wheat. * Spicy Shrimp and Chorizo — This flatbread is topped with Cajun style shrimp, chorizo, red pepper, scallions, mozzarella, and scallions with a chipotle sauce. It has a nice kick to it. There were generous amounts of shrimp and chorizo, both of which were good. * Cashew chicken — This flatbread is Asian influenced. It is topped with chicken, cashews, and a hoisin sauce. This flatbread is spicy and I liked the spicy and sweet flavor mash-up it had going on. Dessert: * Cookie dough flatbread — This was really good! They use the same bread that they use for their flats. Each slice has a small clump of warm, soft, and chewy cookie dough underneath a roasted marshmallow. It is topped with rainbow sprinkles and drizzled with chocolate sauce. It was very simple, but dang tasty! The marshmallows were roasted perfectly and made the dessert. As of September 2011, Urban Flats is on Scoutmob. This gives you a good excuse to check it out and at least try the cookie dough flatbread.

I’m giving the benefit of the doubt here and rounding up to 4 stars instead of 3. 3.5 would be ideal. :) Walked here tonight from my apt down the street. Convenient location, and don’t be scared away if you are driving — there’s a parking garage behind the bldg and you can get 2hrs free validation inside the restaurant. I had an italian sausage flatbread and a series of 4 beer flutes for $ 12. That is the Tuesday special. Wednesday special is $ 20 unlimited buffet and(i think) 4 wine flutes. Tonight the owner came by our table multiple times to check in. He was friendly and genuinely wanted us to have a good time and give him any feedback. He also mentioned a scoutmob offer coming out soon and said that nearby apartment residents get 10% off(but that can’t be combined with scoutmob or last week’s livingsocial) Pros: –Was able to «sample» two beers before I decide on which 4 I would order in the flute. The bartender was really generous and basically gave me an entire 2 flute cups-sized sample. Random suggestions for the restaurant: –beers need to be colder. –cracked pepper for the salads should 1) be offered after salad is delivered, and 2) Be cracked by the wait staff from a long handled shaker. Bringing me a table sized pepper shaker for me to handle isn’t as classy. –Put a free parking sign out front –Advertise in the nearby apt complexes and businesses. I really hope you guys rock the lunch hour for the businesses near there. They could single handily keep you in business. Be receptive to their needs and see if they are in/out fast enough for their work schedules. Also do some get togethers with the nearby apt residents. ALLTOGETHER — this place is definitely worth a visit. It’s a small chain, sure, but it’s locally owned and is trying to provide in an area where other local business owners aren’t even trying. Food was splendid, service was good, and prices were acceptable, especially with the livingsocial/scoutmob deals.

I can see why this place failed the first time… it’s mediocre at best, especially for the location. After being closed for over a year, you’d think they’d change up the routine, but this is an Orlando based chain, trying to make what works in Orlando, work in Atlanta. I think they are going to have a very difficult time competing in the Atlanta market — especially thinking they can charge $ 13 for drink. Maybe at the St. Regis $ 13 is okay, especially since they free pour martinis until the glass is full(diving board anyone?), but if you are jiggering out the liquor, don’t overcharge…(Especially since there are several bars in the same complex charging half that…) The flatbread was okay, but not nearly as delicious as the pizza at Varasano’s down the street. The salad was okay… Honestly, just not memorable at all. Not a very robust wine list either…

Urban Flats is a casual restaurant and wine bar that specializes in gourmet flat bread pizzas. After closing over a year ago, the restaurant has recently been resurrected under the same name in its former location in Lindbergh City Center. Food: The menu at Urban Flats is largely comprised of flat bread pizzas, but also includes a variety of appetizers, salads, sandwiches, and a few entrees. Most specialty flatbreads can also be customized with bacon, chicken, steak, tuna, or salmon. On my first visit, I opted for the«baked cheese and tomato» appetizer and the«white out» flatbread pizza. Overall, the dishes were OK, but slightly underwheleming. The appetizer was touted as «warm goat cheese nestled in creamy tomato bisque», but the goat cheese was virtually non-existent. Moreover, the few pieces of toasted garlic bread that accompanied the dish were not nearly enough to complement the massive amount of tomato bisque with which it was served. The flatbread pizza allegedly included«mozzarella, feta, and parmesan», but the feta was virtually non-existent. However, the flatbread was sizeable and the crust was perfectly cooked. In terms of wine, the list was fairly standard and included options to please must reasonable diners’ preferences. Service: The service during my visit was a bit overzealous, to the point where it actually interferred with the overall dining experience. I certainly appreciate attentive service, but our waitress literally returned to the table every two minutes, making it nearly impossible to carry on a single conversation without being interrupted. On most ocassions, the interruptions were completely unsolicited and seemingly bizarre; on one ocassion, she dropped off a single cocktail napkin at the end of the table with no explanation. Atmosphere: For being a chain restaurant, the atmosphere was surpsisingly welcoming. The overall bar and dining areas are very contemporary with high ceilings and plenty of windows. Cost: Slightly overpriced for the quality. Most of the flatbreads range in price from $ 7.50 to $ 11.00; however, the addition of meat costs between $ 2(bacon) and $ 8(tuna). Appetizers are mostly around $ 10. Other: Street parking is difficult to find in this area. However, the restaurant does validate parking if you park in the garage directly across the street.

Had a quick meeting in this spot b/c my favorite coffee shop down the street was closed. I have been wanting to check it out for a while now, so this seemed like the perfect opportunity. So it sucks b/c we didnt really have any food. The place looks trendy, a tad bit bland and unassuming. Our server seemed a lil annoyed that we were just ordering soft drinks, but I made sure to leave him a nice tip. I totally understand how it is to have ppl taking your tables up to simply have a meeting, but b/c there was literally no one in the restaurant, I didnt think it was a big idea. They have a full bar, and it seems like a cool spot to grab a quick cocktail… The jury is still out on this one… I am kinda tired of the term«urban» I think its overused and carries no significance anymore… but thats just my opinion:)

Great for a casual dinner or a gab session with a friend at the bar! I’ve been to this location 3 times. The service has always been great! All of the servers and bartenders I have encountered have not only done their job well, but have also been cheerful and friendly. The best part of Urban Flats is the atmosphere. The place feels really nice and clean(with the exception of sticky floors last night– what was up with that??) without the big pricetag. They can definitely handle larger groups as the restaurant has a unique layout of different areas that could likely be sectioned off pretty easily. The location is great too– close to Marta, free parking… I am definitely planning on having an event here in the near future. For a simple dinner, Urban Flats is good. It reminds me of CPK in the sense that all the menu items are unique, interesting combination that make you curious to try them. All the flatbreads I’ve had tasted like fresh ingredients– LOVEIT. They also have a great wine list at a great price. My friend also really enjoys the mixed drinks they have. Their bar area is really cute, and I’ve gone before just to relax and sip on a glass of wine. Overall I really like the place. It’s never my first choice when going out but a fantastic standby when I want to stay close to home. A dinner for myself + drink and tip never exceeds $ 20 which is hard to find these days. The only thing that’s sort of weird is that they still have the«Now Open» sign out on Piedmont. Urban Flats has been«Now Open» ever since I moved to Atlanta last December. It seems that they are struggling a bit for business. Too bad, since I think a lot of people are missing out on the cheap, tasty, and fresh fare!

Satisfying fare, but nothing memorable. I went here with a $ 25 certificate on an absolutely dead Saturday night(only one other full table at 6:15). The service was excellent, and our server, Daniel, could not have been more efficient, knowledgeable, and professional. The ambiance and layout of the place is true to the«urban» in its title: high ceilings, large windows, and a loft-like style, and the booths were super comfortable. The flatbreads don’t quite live up to the quality of the service, though, and I doubt I’d crave anything here enough to warrant a return trip on my own. I would definitely come back if a friend suggested it, however. My two cents on the dishes split between my party of four: The Black and Blue Flatbread and the Steak and Portobello Flatbread: two very similar«pizzas» topped with lean strips of steak cooked medium. Something was missing, though — I think it needed more herbs or a flavorful sauce(or San Marzano tomatoes, maybe). Roasted Vegetable Flatbread: my favorite of the three we ordered. Loved the thick slices of portobello ‘shrooms. Goat Cheese, Arugula, and Prosciutto Salad: I split this salad with someone, and the restaurant split it for us into two very generous portions. I’ve had better prosciutto, but the dressing was very tasty, and the overall dish was a nice start to the meal. Lobster Mac n’ Cheese: sounds weird, but seemed to be enjoyed by everyone — no leftovers. It’s a large portion, comes with a lot of flatbread, and is definitely a meal in itself, so keep that in mind when ordering this appetizer with large entrees. Overall, I felt like the flatbreads needed a boost of flavor. I love to cook, but I when I go out to eat, I want to devour something that’s difficult for me to recreate in my own kitchen. That wasn’t the case here, unfortunately, and I found the flatbreads to be too commercial(for lack of a better word). The flatbreads were all the exact same oval shape, color, and texture(soft, no char) and made me think they were all pre-prepared or shipped ready-made to the restaurant. There is almost no sauce on these«pizzas», either. I was a huge fan of the whole wheat, though, and it was the farthest thing from greasy — a definite plus in my book. I have an insatiable appetite, and I found the flatbreads perfectly filling, unlike some of the other reviewers. Parking is free for the first 2 hours. Traffic in this area is headache-inducing, though.

Don’t go hungry… the pizzas($ 8 – 11) are slightly bigger than one loaded slice at Fellini’s. I wanted to get the fig/prosciutto pizza but they have a lunch special from 11 am to 3 pm M-F where one pizza per day is $ 5. On Wed it’s a chicken bbq pizza — which sounds like a CPK knockoff — and it was decent other than the heavy hand with the bbq sauce(which is NOT subtle as a pizza topping). They do offer a side salad for $ 4(which is not on the menu) and it was simple and small with greens, white raisins, and really good quality feta cheese. Everything on the printed menu is $ 8 and up so there are no impulse add-ons to a meal, and you really need two items if you’re the slightest bit hungry. I’ll go back on Tues lunch for the $ 5 roasted veggie pizza special — and order two.(Every other day of the week has a strange lunch special). I think this place works better as a drinks/snacks joint, esp for the uppity white folks who compete with each other to eat as little as possible. My waiter said they’re busy during the week but dead on weekends. Parking is free for two hours, but that whole mixed use development at the marta station is a ghost town. Try it before their lease runs out, I bet it won’t last.

Unaware this was a Wine Co. in addition to a Flatbread Co., I walked in caught off guard that it was a sit-down with server kind of place. Not a bad thing by any means, I only say that to illustrate my appreciation for the guy who walked up to the host stand I happened to stumble into in my confusion, who immediately introduced himself and shook my hand. And not in that«Hi!!! We need customers!» kind of way, more in that genuinely friendly kind of way. Nice. Sitting down I got a chance to briefly glance through the menu(featured nice and full casual wine list on the back, along with a good ten or so beers on tap, to include Dogfish 60 Minute), but the best part was being able to talk through it with the knowledgeable, relaxed and outstandingly friendly server. I mean that in the I-kinda-left-genuinely-wanting-to-be-friends-with-this-guy kinda way. We talked through what their idea of flatbread was(read: pizza [see other reviews]) and the different toppings. He explained his faves. Was very receptive to my idea of switching toppings around. Very glad when a place understands that hey. it’s a kitchen. you can put whatever toppings/ingredients one whatever menu items the patron wants. No cause for alarm. (Kinda hate it when places make it a big deal, like«NOSUBSTITUTIONS [it will be too hard for us to figure out how much to charge you].») Actually, kinda surprised to read through the other reviews here. I guess I can only speak to the brie/pear/turkey flatbread(pizza), but the flavors came together spot on for me. And by the way I kind of hate mustard but I’m glad I kept the honey-mustard drizzled on because this flatbread(pizza) seriously made me kind of like it. Genuinely cool people, perception-changing flatbread(pizza), seasonally rotating regional ingredients and menu? Five stars. ridiculously cliché/silly/elementary tagline, not so much ha.(minus one-half star)

Place seemed cool but food was mediocre given the price. Ordered the hummus appetizer which comes with original/garlic hummus, spicy hummus and an olive hummus. The spreads were pretty dry and the bread it was served with was just a flatbread with some garlic/olive oil on top. Mediocre, not worth the price. I had the turkey, pear and brie flatbread — too oily for me, turkey was mediocre and the pear was alright. Together, wasn’t the best combination and it was basically a flatbread pizza for $ 9. Nothing really special, interesting idea — service was alright, pretty slow though. Not many people there so it was sort of quiet and not very upbeat. Go again? Maybe — wouldn’t be my first choice though.

Proximity. That was the sole criterion we used to choose for eating here. That’s a lie. We did peek at the menu so curiosity also factored in, but mostly we were being lazy and didn’t want to travel far for dinner. Urban Flats Flatbreads, being almost next door to my friend’s house, certainly qualified. I was dubious of a place that had the word«flat» in its name twice, but laziness is a force too powerful to overcome. Because I’m too lazy to try to overcome it. Go figure. The space was pretty enough. Large and airy, it had that same bland attractiveness as most of the SimCity mixed used developments that have popped up over recent years. The oversized photos of Buckhead and surrounding neighborhood was a nice, localized touch. It wasn’t very crowded in there, so service was fairly attentive. The manager explained they’ve been opened about 8 weeks and they’re still trying to get their name out there. The menu was fairly extensive with mostly salads, sandwiches and«flat breads.» From whence come these«flat breads?» In short, they’re pizzas, though not your classic, round pizzas. They’re oblong, personal-sized, and thin crusted. Urban Flats is safe in NOT calling them pizzas since they’re not really. But they are, in fact. I mean what would YOU call a 2-dimensional food product of toppings, sauce and cheese served on a bread-like, starch medium? A pizza? Apparently the right answer is «flat bread.» Shows you what *I* know. So how WAS my, um, flat bread? Eh. I got the meatball. The good? The meatballs. I really liked them. The bread, however, was on the chewy side and overall, I could’ve used more cheese. With the small amount of cheese and sauce relative to the crust, it kind of reminded me of the pizzas I was served in my high school cafeteria. It’s not THAT bad, however. Nothing could be that bad. I take that back. CiCi’s is that bad. Anyway, the pizza, er, flat bread wasn’t horrible per se; it just wasn’t all that great. I’m sure Robert M., the Pizza Guy, would run screaming for the hills. For the rest of us Unilocal civilians, it’s passable. The rest of my friends enjoyed their food more than I. I’m told the shrimp tacos are«awesome,» as are the sliders. My other friend, however, said after finishing his French Dip, «I’m still hungry. Their portions are smaller than your dick. Make sure to put that in your Unilocal review.» Done and done. In all, Urban Flats isn’t a terrible place. It’s along the lines of California Pizza Kitchen, though I prefer CPK’s za a smidge over these guys. My only other complaint, other than my friend checking out my junk, is Urban Flat’s slogan: «Fresh, fun and hip!» Really. Hip? Is telling us you’re hip on your window really the best way to convey this message? When I first gazed at their slogan, the following dialog from The Simpsons came to mind: Homer: So I realized that being with my family is more important than being cool. Bart: Dad, what you just said was powerfully uncool. Homer: You know what the song says: «It’s hip to be square.» Lisa: That song is so lame. Homer: So lame that it’s… cool? Bart and Lisa: No. Marge: Am I cool, kids? Bart and Lisa: No. Marge: Good. I’m glad. And that’s what makes me cool – not caring, right? Bart and Lisa: No. Marge: Well, how the hell do you be cool? I feel like we’ve tried everything here. Homer: Wait, Marge. Maybe if you’re truly cool, you don’t need to be told you’re cool. Bart: Well, sure you do. Lisa: How else would you know? Three stars, Urban Flat Breads. But«hip?» Keep trying.

Wine Down Wednesday — pretty good deal for $ 20, particularly if you’re not going to be driving. Starts at 6:30 and goes until they run out of the bottles that are on the list. The pours are pretty generous(since I was driving, I actually had to ask them to only give me half glasses), and the line to get more wasn’t too bad. The service at our table seemed non-existant, since many of us were doing the special and didn’t really need the table service, except for clearing the plates, which did manage to pile up… The food was decent, though I was one of the few people at the table who seemed to think so. I particularly enjoyed the flatbread with mushrooms, arugula, rosemary and cheese. I couldn’t really identify what the others had on them, though there was one with roast beef and cheddar that was much better than I expected. There was also some penne with tuna and capers and a spicy sauce that was better than expected when cold, so I bet it would be even better when warm. I did really like the hummus, though the tapenade was VERY briny, and that clashed with the acidity of the wine I was drinking at the time. I will go back, particularly for this deal. I just hope that they turn down the music! I like to be able to talk to my tablemates without screaming.

NPWH = Nice People Work Here It may have been because it was the grand opening, but I’d like to think that their employees are extremely nice all the time(as they were last night). Our server must have used the phrase«absolutely amazing» about 3 times just describing the different flat breads… and I’m okay with that. He was extremely personable and I actually considering asking him if he’d like a job leasing apartments. Anyway, I enjoyed the food and the service was great. My only fear is that they’re going to face the same demise as Pie Bar. This might be stupid to say, but flat bread is really just a fancy way of saying pizza… right? The grand opening crowd definitely reflected its location between Buckhead and Midtown. See Kit F.‘s Unilocal for more details on the people… he’s got it right on.
