They were originally a 2 star entity in my book. But my friend & I agreed that if they had wifi, & gave us some salsa for our $ 2 tacos, I’d bump their rating up. Low & behold. A 3 star rating in my book, as of now. The portions are great for a taco. The drinks & beer selection are good. Not too crowded. Has an outside patio, if you want a tan or need some vitamin D, . Service is slow. Their cooks are a little faster than the bartenders. The shrimp taco has way too many onions, & was bland+dry. The fried chicken taco was below average, good attempt. I’ve had better. Wish the rice was brown. *addition Wifi goes in & out. Considering star rating demotion. Will review.

1 star Is considered a compliment for this establishment. It was uncomfortably hot inside due to lack of air conditioning and the management is poor. Margaritas are made with the lowest shelf tequila and the food is not made fresh. I will never go back again.

The sticky sweet thai wings were perfectly seasoned and cooked to perfection. We tried the mixed taco plate for variety. The catfish tacos were AMAZING! Im not a catfish fan but WOW, i would eat one again any day. If you like spice with flavor their habenero sauce is the bomb! The grilled and fried chicken tacos were good with lots of chicken in them. You wont be disappointed. The only down side is the small beer selection. Dont go in thinking you’ll have a wide variety but, the staples are there. Last but not least our server. Malcolm was attentive, knowledgeable about the menu, and a great conversationist. We will be back. Enjoy!

In LOVE with this place! I’ve been coming here almost every single day after work and I order a beer with a catfish taco every time. The margaritas here always pack a punch and taste amazing… dangerously easy to to catch a buzz off of just one. Not to mention, the staff here are always so positive and friendly. Perfect neighborhood taco/margarita joint for the village!

First time and the last going to this place. The service is horrible and food sucked! Go to Holy Taco!

Neighborhood feel, the bad kind of neighbor. I hate to say it but the great location, cheap prices and easy parking give this place two stars. The food is lack luster and tastes like it is straight from the can/package. Service is consistently slow and rarely happy to see you. If you want incredible margaritas, authentic tasting food and a better indoor/outdoor experience then try Mezcalitos in grant park. Until the menu/staff changes I will avoid this place unless I am broke.

This is about as boring as Mexican food can be. If it’s wrapped in a Tortilla it must be Mexican food according to this place. It is pretty pricey for what you get and they charge extra for anything in your burrito beyond just cheese, beans and meat. Save yourself a few bucks and hit up Chipotle! Way better Mexican food, way fresher, way more for your money and the service will be faster!

Ehhhh. Man, I’ve been here a couple of times but it just doesn’t do it for me. I’ve had a burrito that didn’t taste like much of anything(and did NOT sit well in my tummy) and some pretty boring tacos. At least it was their $ 2 taco Tuesday because I’d have been pissed if I paid full price for them. The queso is alright, though. I hate when the food is mediocre but the service is good. Especially if it’s in my ‘hood. And the service is pretty good here, especially at the bar. But such is life. For sit-down tacos and beer, I’ll stick with Elmyriachi in Kirkwood. Womp womp.

The food here is really just okay… El Mexicano up the street is cheaper, way better and more authentic. The ambience and the wait staff is nice but the food is kinda of bland… The tacos are pretty basic, the salad is actually the best thing on the menu, was gonna order the fajitas but it doesn’t even come with guac or sour cream or any sides, just ok. Not impressed.

A restaurant with an average star rating of 3.5 stars is above average in my book, I guess I need to revise my expectations. While the service was ok, the food and drinks were well below average. I ordered their«top shelf» margarita and I might as well would’ve just ordered lemonade. To say the margarita was weak is an understatement, and I’m a lightweight! Two lights beers and I’m as happy as could be! The food was not horrible but definitely not good. I ordered the tacos which come with a side of rice and beans. The rice had no taste and the beans were dry. Taco Bell has more flavorful tacos. It’s safe to say Tomatillos will not be getting repeat business from this guy.

REVIEWMODIFIED Short staffed when we visited. Dirty tables throughout the restaurant. Server notified us about 30 minutes after we ordered that they’d run out of the food we’d ordered. After talking to the staff a bit, they let us know a line cook had quit and the floor was short staffed. NOTE: Manager disputes it was short staffed although he concedes he left early that evening. He wasn’t there and I have eyes. But he made it plain he doesn’t intend to do anything to improve service, nor is he interested in feedback. We left without eating, because they had run out of the food we ordered. MODIFIED The owner does not want to be involved with operating the business and apparently doesn’t plan to do anything to improve the place.

Ordered the chicken crack empanadas and they were overcooked and the beans and rice that came out with it was ice cold. So I decided to order wings(3 different kind,.50 so why not) and they came out dark and hard, I guess today was a bad day for them compared to other reviewers. Funny thing about those wings they suppose to be three different flavor but they all had the same flavor with just a little somthing added to each, one actually left a horrible taste in my mouth. One thing I can say customer service was good

Food was good, fast, and inexpensive. There’s grilled tofu available if you don’t eat meat. The drinks are really cheap, too! They offer fishbowls. Also they have a Sunday brunch featuring bottomless mimosas for just $ 9! Their house wine is Trinity Oaks, and currently they have a sign that says buy a bottle of the cab or chard and the Trinity Oaks will plant a tree. Not bad considering a bottle is only 14 bucks!

Ahhhhh. My Coke made me say that. A great Coke here in Atlanta. Small cubed ice, excellent fizzy levels and just the right amount of sweetness. It’s the kind of Coke that leads to diabetes because you desire more refills. **Note that my written review for Coke is stand alone and separate from the star rating. I use the star rating system for my overall experience. And this place rocks. But I only choose to verbally review the Coca Cola Classic… because it’s classy.

Overall very impressed with this place. Have been once before but only had a few beers and chips. This recent time a few friends and myself stopped by before a show in the neighborhood. The overall ambiance of the place is clean and modern. When we came in it was later on a Friday night and not busy at all. I orders the chicken quesadilla with onions and mushrooms, and also had the chips and queso. The salsa provided was amazing and tasted amazingly fresh. My quesadilla was even better. For right under 10 dollars it was a large portion. I opted out on sides because I was about to consume a large quantity of alcohol. The fired chicken was very crunchy even when melted into the cheese! Overall an awesome spot! Def recommend for the great food and service!

I love this place. It’s tucked away in East Atlanta. Fresh, fresh, fresh. The food is quality. I saw a cook walking with a head of romaine like he got from the garden. Tofu was the best!!! Cool hip environment

We had a full-on lunch here today that was our first visit in over a year. It was a solid experience befitting an upgraded review. The margaritas were thoroughly quaffable and satisfyingly boozy this time. The chips, salsa, and queso were fresh and hit the spot hard. And the fried chicken taco was excellent – certainly on par with other places like Holy Taco and Taqueria Del Sol that also do the style well. The catfish taco was not as flavorful, but still good. Wife had a steak burrito and was very pleased. They now have full table service, which is a bit of a wash for me because, though the servers are friendly, they are also a little spacey, so the expeditious meals of times past are a casualty to the next rung on the classiness ladder that I guess justifies these higher prices. It’s not surprising really, given the ascendant nature of the area, and nearby competitors offering a similarly delicious and up-scaled experience(Holy Taco and Mezcalitos, both of which we like and seek out depending on audience and mood). On the whole we felt relatively charmed today with what Tomatillos has fully become in our minds: a delicious and vibey spot playing a vital supporting role in anchoring EAV as a vibrant and positively trending neighborhood. We definitely won’t let another year go by before coming back for more.

I’m always looking for really yummy, healthy, large salads and Tomatillos had a great one. I’m talking, HUGE. And it’s only $ 7(includes beans) before adding on any extra cost for meat. It’s truly great. I also really love their empanadas, and their tacos are pretty fine. They have a nice, small patio that’s at street-level — and it’s dog friendly. The service has always been friendly, and the restaurant has a casual, but not hole in the wall, feel.

I’ve been coming here semi-regularly for about a year. The service has been up and down, but it’s a casual atmosphere and I don’t expect five star service at a place like this. Previously customers ordered at the counter before taking a seat, and now they offer full service. Honestly, I thought it was fine before. I’m here for the food and drinks anyways. The food is usually delicious. Occasionally the guac has been less than fresh, or they’ll forget something in my takeout order. It hasn’t been a big deal. It’s a place I’ll continue to grab last minute dinners at or come to just to leave the house on Sunday. Mostly for the convenient location and chill atmosphere. Thanks Tomatillos, and I’ll probably see you tomorrow.
