I am truly in love with antique furniture and can discuss it non-stop. To me The Ice House, Cabinets, Furnishing and More is definitely one of the best in Atlanta but the prices are too much upscale and this is what distracted meat time. The location is great and the plaza has a lot other stores to visit. The management here is nicely organized and overall the staff is their products and availability.

The Ice House is a dangerous place for someone who loves retro, vintage, MCM, whatever you like home fuirnishings and accessories, they have a great mix. The prices are actually pretty decent, I didn’t cough or scoff too much at the tags of stuff I was interested in. I didn’t end up with anything this time but will be back to visit in the near future. The owner is lovely and has a bunch of cutie pie pups behind the desk so blow them a kiss when you walk in.

How I haven’t reviewed my FAVORITE antique store yet is beyond me. The Ice House is THE place to go in metro Atlanta for mid century modern antiques. The owners are so incredibly lovely and give that old fashioned customer service that just doesn’t exist anymore. The store is located over in the antique district of Chamblee in an old converted ice house… the place isn’t huge in size but they really make the most use of the space. They ONLY carry MCM antiques– yes, ONLYMCM! HELLO, HEAVEN! The owners are constantly traveling and bringing back fantastic pieces so there is always new stock and the prices are just too good to be true. I really am so obsessed with this store! My other favorite element to this business is that the co-owner, Don, is an INCREDIBLE carpenter/furniture maker and reproduces amazing atomic inspired tables and such. We’ve commissioned several pieces throughout the years including our coffee and side tables, a fantastic Mad Men inspired bar and matching floor lamp. The craftsmanship is impeccable and each of these pieces are showstoppers! Every element from the chrome to retro laminate top to paint colors and shapes was customized and discussed and you end up with a completely one of a kind, custom MCM furniture piece. This store is really everything! If you’re into mid century antiquing– check this place out! If you want something super unique– commission a custom piece! Regardless, swing by and see the best kept secret in metro ATL! The 60’s are back, baby!

This is a great spot. Another terrific place to find mid century modern designs. Awesome prices and super friendly owner. This is certainly one of my favorite shops to visit when in Chamblee. You won’t be disappointed.

While driving through the Chamblee Antique District to check out the husband and I’s usual haunts, we decided to stop by The Ice House, per our neighbor’s recommendation. The Ice House is definitely unique — it’s part cabinet /custom furniture shop, part antique store, that just so happens to specialize in mid-century modern goods. Apparently, this was to hedge their bets due to the economy. When we stepped in, we were immediately greeted by the owner, who was very friendly and definitely gets what mid-century modern is about. We didn’t spend much time looking at the cabinetry, as we’re not looking for that at the moment. But if you want some custom cabinets with a modern feel, go to The Ice House. They also sell those modern appliances that are designed to look like they came from the 50s. *drool* I would gladly trade in my stainless steel appliances for a retro looking set. Stainless steel appliances are over rated in my opinion. Now onto the furniture. The selection of mid-century modern antiques, is definitely on the smaller side, when compared to shops such as City Issue. They had a few chairs, a table or two, a hutch, and a few other pieces. All in great condition. But mixed in with the mid-century antiques, are custom tables. Want a custom 8-Ball table for your man cave? Go here. But what I really fell in love with were the custom boomerang coffee table with funky laminate prints. Totally swoontastic. Once I can decide on a spiffy laminate print, I’m definitely going to have The Ice House custom make me a boomerang table.
