This review is based on drinks only. Went to the new family dog on a Saturday night. The remodel looks good. Glad the stage went away but the high tops that were in the middle didn’t take up as much space as the giant booths now do so its hard to navigate if you are trying to just be at the bar. For the drinks, very very pricey. I heard that some of the Ivey owners in Buckhead bought this and there were lots of Buckhead type people in Saturday. Even over heard several say they had never been to the Highlands. House wine was $ 12-$ 13. Moscow Mule not frozen was $ 12. The beers were reasonably priced and they even had PBR if you want to be cheap. Looking forward to trying the food. But I won’t be drinking anything other than beer. Wine and cocktails are way over priced.

Super impressed with this remodel. It is also under new ownership. The food was really great, the menu is diverse and palatable. Choices for those wanting to be healthier and those looking to enjoy something more sinister. The Mac and Cheese is absolutely amazing. I had the veggie burger which was also top notch!

We went for dinner last night with a group. Other reviews mention all the draft beers being 12oz, they were definitely 16oz last night. The drink prices seemed on par with most other local bars so nothing to complain about there. $ 5 – 7 for pints of draft beer, $ 3 – 4 for bottled swill. The staff was all super friendly, especially the bar tenders. I got a burger which was really solid. Half of our group, myself included, really enjoyed the food and the other half was less impressed. It’s nice to have this place back open. The interior looks great and it’s still got the awesomely huge bar. We will definitely be back.

I went to the new Family Dog on opening night. The food was indeed, very good. I really like the new décor, some of the booths seem very large. I guess great for larger parties. However, I was a little surprised at a few things, the drinks specifically all the draft beers I saw were 12 ounces. This is fine if you state that the drafts are 12 ounces, or if they are high gravity, or if you are not charging 7 bucks. If you are not serving 16 ounce drafts, I think you should have to list it. Also, the Whisky/bourbon list seemed super expensive. Jack Daniels, Jameson, Bulleit, four roses, all 2 oz pour for 12 bucks? Macallan 12 was 22 bucks??? that seems astronomical. I get that the pours are 2 ounces vs the 1.5 at most places, but that does not mean they should be 2x the price. I hope this place sticks around, but the drinks are more expensive than Rathbuns.
