Great alternative to the long waits at Crawfish shack up the street the gumbo was excellent with two whole blue crabs in it. Shrimp poboy was delicious and def try the étouffée fries.

Love this place. Ample room for groups and service is fast. I’ve been here at least 10 times since it opened and the crawfish has been consistently good. Of course some days are better than others but overall one of the best crawfish places in Atlanta. Crawfish is $ 6.99/lb.

I am a New Orleans guy. The benchmark for any N.O. place for me is the shrimp PoBoy. Shrimp were large, fresh and fried perfectly. Served with remoulade on it which was good… spicy. The bread is always the toughest thing to match. It wasn’t full on New Orleans French bread but it was good, crusty and fresh… passable. Had tomatoes and needed shredded lettuce. All in all not 100% traditional PoBoy but still very good. Place is impeccably clean and staff is great! I’ll be back with my family to tryout more items.

Absolutely delicious food and extremely attentive staff! I ordered the shrimp and fish combo with the corn flour batter which is lighter than the corn meal. My family also tried the gumbo, catfish po boy and garlic shrimp. We loved it all and will return!

Really good… fresh Gulf oysters, crablegs, boiled shrimp in house sauce, red beans and rice… all fresh and great. Service was fast and attentive. Highly recommend.

The Buford Highway Supper Club had the pleasure of dining at the Bayou Boil for our first meeting of 2016. Upon arrival, we were not pleased to discover that they could not serve us anything from the ‘full bar’ that is checked here on Unilocal. Not a good start to the evening, but they did let us bring beer and wine in from the nearby liquor store. They kept it cold and served it without any added ‘corking fee’ and they did it with a smile. In fact, we were most impressed with the level of service we received — fantastic! Now, the food — yummy! So great to find this kind of restaurant on the Buford Highway. I’m a big fan of Gulf style seafood and I was not disappointed. I think everyone in our group enjoyed their dinners. We’re keeping our fingers crossed that the Bayou Boil is successful and stays around for some time to come. I’ll likely change my rating to 5 stars when they get their liquor license!

I originally came here because I read good reviews about the gumbo and i love seafood. Oh how i was disappointed. The atmosphere and the staff was great but my food wasnt so great. I ordered the shrimp po boy with no tomatoes. Of course, i got tomatoes, but that wasnt the issue. I also ordered catfish, fries, and hushpuppies. I received tilapia and some warm tartar sauce. Although, both were okay. It was not what i ordered. And lastly, the gumbo. For $ 12 for a bowl a gumbo, i thought i would be getting something better than what the new orleans people make. Nope, it was like chicken noodle broth and seafood. It was the worst gumbo ive ever had not to mention the overcooked rice. I will not be returning.

The portion sizes are laughable at best. They charge $ 15 for their shrimp etouffe that you could easily fit in a red solo cup. The etouffe was very bland with only an extremely mild aftertaste if spice. The shrimp in it were completely flavorless. I’ll not be going here ever again.

«The Bayou Boil» has some really good food. I am a huge cajun food fan and their grub is up at the top. Went with a large group and tried several dishes. The gumbo was top notch, it has a dark roux. The crawfish and shrimp were great, the crawfish po boy was just as good as po boys from the Gulf Coast. The crawfish dip was good but a little too cream cheesy. The still do not have their liquor license so no beer. We went on a Saturday night and it was empty, they had sort of a tough time keeping up with our group of 12. Give them another month or two to get their LL and get their groove down and they will be 5*.

New business. I was looking for a spread of boiled seafood and this place hit the spot! I had a pick three bucket: shrimp, crab and crawfish for $ 25. Service was pretty good. They are still working out some kinks but overall the staff was courteous and helpful. Free app with Unilocal app. Étouffée fries were good. Definitely will be back again.

Checked this place out last week! It’s a new restaurant to the Decatur area and it will be a great place to go to! The décor is fun and family centered! The staff are very friendly and the food is great! I had the gumbo and a half of a mixed po-boy(catfish and shrimp) and let me tell you it was delicious! The gumbo had a great taste and smelled amazing and the po-boy was also just as good! The seafood was fresh and the fried fish and shrimp on my po-boy was light and crunchy. No grease or to much breading. Just good seafood and at a good price. We didn’t leave hungry. I actually saved a few bites to take home for others to try and let me tell you we are going there as a family soon! Good location and friendly staff and great food doesn’t get much better than that!

Went here expecting ordinary and it was delicious. We ordered the bucket for 2 and the portion was more than satisfying. The bucket included snow crab legs, blue crabs, mussels, shrimp, crawfish, potatoes, and corn. Everything was juicy and flavorful. I’ve never been a huge fan of crawfish but I couldn’t stop eating until they were all gone. My husband really like the food too. Oh and the Cheesecake was the best!!! We will be back!

$ 10 lunch specials Mon-Fri 11−3pm. In addition to their«regular» $ 10 lunch specials, they have a special grand opening $ 10 «catch & mix» special where you can«catch» any two selections(e.g., 2 fried fish, 2 tacos, 6″ po boy, 6 pc shrimp, etc). My friend and I each got the«2 fried fish» and«6 pc shrimp» — wow, it was a lot of food. In hindsight we shouldn’t have ordered the same thing so we could try more different items. CHEESYCRAWFISH — $ 8 We got this free w/Yelp check-in :) Crawfish cream cheese Creole dip w/French baguette slices and fried puffy-like tortilla chips. Quite rich but it includes a few nice chunks of crawfish so we carefully selected those :) 2FRIEDFISH For the«catch & mix», you get a choice of tilapia or catfish, and corn flour or cornmeal batter. I did tilapia and corn flour — I tried cornmeal batter at another similar Cajun place and wasn’t a fan. I couldn’t believe how big the fish were — I ended up eating the 2nd one for dinner. Fish was very good, cooked-to-order and again, couldn’t believe how much food we had. Also came w/two tiny hushpuppies and a lot of fries. All good. 6PCSHRIMP My other«catch & mix» item was the shrimp. I asked our server for recommendations and she called out the boiled shrimp in low country boil or house special sauce(garlic butter). They devein and butterfly the shrimp but it does have the shell on(but head off) — messy but the shell does come off fairly easily. I got the house special b/c I love garlic — oh yum those shrimp were really good; our server didn’t disappoint us. I tried my friend’s low country boil — that sauce is good too but I loved the house special more :) I definitely recommend their boiled shrimp. Overall great first impression. My other friends also went that day and they enjoyed their food too; they said the oysters were great. Next time I’d like to try their Clam Chowder(our server also recommended it), Bayou Bucket, Oyster Po Boy and Etoufee. ******************* Update 2÷7÷16 OYSTERPOBOY — $ 8(half) The half sandwich is a good size — fried oysters in a toasted amarosa roll were very good but overall sandwich was on the salty side due to too much remoulade. Veggies included lettuce and tomato. Not a fan of iceberg but I would’ve liked more shredded lettuce to help lessen the saltiness. Still a yummy sandwich but next time I’d ask for the remoulade on the side.

Great food, very large portions. Been here few times now. I had the tilapia po boy with tilapia tacos. My girlfriend had fried fish with clam chowder. All the food came out hot, they took a little bit to cook up the food so I know the food was cooked to order. Food was very good, will be returning to get my seafood fix. This is the only place I know of that serve raw clams, never had it before until I came here… I have to say it’s pretty good.

Food was really good. Nice décor. Ordered shrimp po boy w/hush puppies. Husband ordered bayou boil with garlic butter. We also got a bowl of seafood gumbo and a free crawfish dip. Crawfish dip was ok. Wouldn’t order it again. Husband liked it. Gumbo was DELICIOUS! Reminded of me of gumbo my family makes. Po boy was decent. More bread then shrimp. Perhaps if more shrimp, I would have enjoyed it more. Hush puppies were really good and they give u quite a bit. Husband liked his boil. It came in two bowls: crab, mussels, and shrimp in one bowl; crawfish, potatoes and corn in the other. He ordered in garlic butter as he doesn’t like spicy foos. The bowl with the crab had garlic butter, but the other bowl was quite spicy and lacked any garlic butter. Overall, the bowls were just ok to me, but like I said, husband would order it again though he didn’t touch the spicy bowl. Our waiter, Franklin, was also great. Very good service! Food came put very quickly. Overall we had a good experience and would definitely return. Looking forward to ordering more gumbo and trying the ettouffe. Also, loved that they were open late.

We were very pleased with the food and the service. I provided detail with the pictures, but overall the food was freshly cooked and delicious. I specially liked the slightly smaller hush puppies, because they were not«doughy» on the inside. The prices were very reasonable and the portions were generous. We really liked this place, and I’m sure we’ll be back. When we come back, we will likely try one of the seafood boils.

Great new place on Burford. They have fresh crawfish regularly brought in from to the Gulf. Typical Cajun offerings of étouffée, gumbo, po boys, etc. Their specialty is buckets or what is often called a boil. We had the cheesy crawfish appetizer which is a dip served with bread and chips. For our main course we split a fried shrimp entrée and the Bayou Bucket which has snow card, blue crab, shrimp, mussels, andouille sausage, crawfish, corn and red potatoes in the house boil. It is $ 25 per portion but one is enough to share is you get some apps and another entrée. What we ordered was more than enough for two people. They just opened recently and will have the full bar open soon.

For a recent transplant in the ATL, the Bayou Boil has flavors that brought me back to my days living on the Gulf Coast. Ordered 2lbs of the crawfish and half of an oyster poboy. Their low country boil was good, the right amount of kick to keep you warm during these cold Georgia nights. We got there really early so you know about that first batch. We’ll definitely make sure to come back a little later in the afternoon to get that batch that’s been soaking for a while. Service was decent but they just opened so I’ll give them a pass. Practice makes perfect. My only gripe was with their poboy. I’m a traditionalist, I like the remoulade in the poboy not all over it. That must be an ATL thing because this was the second Cajun restaurant in town I’ve been to that drizzled the remoulade over their poboys. It’s a messy sandwich already, why make it more messy. But other than that, the favor was good and the oysters were fried nicely. Though, I miss the overstuffed poboys from back home. Décor is great, fresh and lively. Will definitely be coming back,

Not a bad place for seafood. Wasn’t the freshest I’ve had but in GA, that’s understandable. This place is brand new and just opened in the past few days. The place is decorated nicely with a lot of cajun décor. It definitely reminds you of a Louisiana inspired restaurant. There is ample amount of seating here so you should be able to get a seat, unless you have a big party then you might have to wait a bit. The restaurant is divided with a bar on one side which seems like a nice spot to watch some sporting events and the other half of the restaurant is dedicated to the dining area where most of the customers eat at. They also have a house DJ too, not sure if he was just there for the opening week or not. The service here is okay. I’m sure it will improve over time and since it was pretty much the grand opening, there are a few kinks they are still figuring out. A few of our orders got switched around, but it wasn’t too bad and they also forgot our utensils until we had to remind them that it was missing from the table. Still understandable since this place is brand new, so not too many points taken off for that. The menu has a variety of options like fried fish dishes, po boys, and also seafood buckets with a variety of options in it(crabs, crawfish, shrimp, mussels, etc.), The seafood itself is not the biggest or freshest seafood and most people will not notice, but experience seafood aficionados will know the difference between the two. Overall, this place was okay in general. Nothing too special. It wasn’t bad at all, just not the best I’ve had. Wish I could give it a better review, but it just didn’t do it for me. My Recommendations: –Bayou Bucket

I had really high expectations for this restaurant, but sadly I was very disappointed. My family and I went on a Saturday evening around 7ish, and the restaurant was empty(this always creates an awkward energy for me). Despite the awkwardness, the dining area was very welcoming. It was warm, and clean, and very spacious. The hostess greeted us with a big friendly smile, and showed us to our seats. Our server was friendly as well. We ordered the Crawfish dip as an appetizer. It was served with little slices of bread, and thick cut tortilla chips. Oh my gosh, it was PURE mayonnaise! I gagged! It didn’t look anything like the picture that a previous guest posted, so I can only assume that the restaurant changed the recipe. It was more of a sandwich spread than a dip. It was served with little slice of bread and thick cut, tortilla chips. Both my husband and I were disgusted by this and had it not been free, we would have sent it back. I requested that the kids’ food come out with the appetizer(since my kids eat slow), and we nibbled on their food while they nibbled on our mayo based appetizer. My son(3) chose the popcorn shrimp and hush puppies as his side and it was YUMMY! The shrimp were full sized, and the hush puppies were perfectly crisp on the outside with an inside that was just the right texture and sweetness. For my entrée I chose the Shrimp and grits. This dish had potential to be AMAZING, but due to a lack of seasoning, it was just a bland plate of really creamy grits with Shrimp. With a name like«The Bayou Boil» and options like gumbo, étouffée, and crawfish by the lb, I was expecting a Cajun twist at the very least. Perhaps my expectations were too high. The name put my husband in the mood for seafood, so he opted for one of the buckets, which costs $ 25 for three items, plus 2 sides. He chose boiled crawfish, fried shrimp, fried grouper, and boiled potatoes, and Red beans and rice for his sides. The seafood was YUM, but the sides were lacking flavor. The red beans tasted prepackaged, and the potatoes(like the shrimp and grits) had no flavor, only a hint of spice. I really like the idea of the buckets because you get to customize them so that everything is prepared to your liking. With the fried items you get to chose if you want them battered with cornmeal or flour, and with the boiled items you can choose from four different flavors. This is a perfect option for someone(like myself) who has trouble choosing one entrée from a menu. Closing thoughts: the Bayou Boil is fresh and new, it’s in a good location and has great items on it’s menu. I believe that with just a little guidance and constructive feedback this restaurant could be great. Bayou Boil, if you’re reading: I rounded up from a 2.7 stars because you are so new. The food here was executed beautifully, but it tastes as if everything is being seasoned with white pepper or perhaps cayenne pepper. There is a spice present, but not much flavor. I would suggest tweaking your recipes just a little to include more prominent flavors. This would make all the difference for me. Also, the Beans and rice could use a redo, ours tasted very off, almost chemically. The seafood was FANTASTIC and I think your buckets are awesome, and the prices for them are fair. We shall return in a few months, keep up the good work!
