The original and still the best place to experience the real taco Mac. Small foot print but a great selection of beer and good wings.

Came for Sunday football, was seated and they changed a TV for the game I wanted to watch. Unfortunately the table we were directed to was in a corner that had a distinct urine odor, and we weren’t the only customers to smell it and comment on it. Since we were here for a long term dining time, ordered food to «snack on» instead of a regular lunch. Chips and quest were good, nice touch to add a few flour tortillas to the regular chips. Ordered the roasted wings, medium buffalo, and a side of roasted whole mushrooms. Wings were very good, not sure what made the mushrooms roasted, seemed like they were just cooked in butter and some chives on top, not bad but not great. Turns out the smell was not from the restaurant but from a elderly homeless lady who was already in a booth near us when we walked in. Once she left, the staff really took care of the area cleaning and disinfecting.

This is my favorite neighborhood hang out. I live close by and go here quite often. I love their menu and being a wing lover, their wings can’t be beat. And of course there’s the beer… The few times I have had problems with my order(and that will happen on occasion at any restaurant), they always make it right. Haters can complain about the small size of this location, and about the lack of parking all they want, but it would be OK with me if they never changed a thing. This is the original Taco Mac, Built in the late 70s, before they became a chain. So yes it’s small, But that’s part of it’s historical charm, just like VH it’s self. So be warned, if you don’t like good pub food, a warm, charming atmosphere, tucked away in one of Atlanta’s most historical neighborhoods, this is not the place for you!

Highlands Taco Mac, where the local legend started. I will tell you what, people can laugh at me all they want that I enjoy a chain restaurant. And you know what? For the most part, all of locations are consistent(except the rotating beer menus, of course!). This particular location is special to me though. On 2÷13÷2006(I will explain in a moment how in the HELL I remembered that date), my best friend and I decided to play hooky, and paint the town red. I do remember, that it was in the afternoon too, because it was a beautiful day out. We saw Taco Mac, and saw it was empty. It was time to get trashed! Now, this location, is at the heart of Highland and Virginia Avenues, one of my favorite neighborhoods in Atlanta. The parking is a joke(like 4 spots out front). They do have valet options and street parking as well. I have lucked out a few times, and I have been able to park up front. Let me stop side tracking. So we went, and the server we had was cool as hell. He had us try out new beers(at the time), and had us sign up for the legendary«Taco Mac Brewniversity” — which keeps track of EVERY beer you have consumed at TMac(mind you, doubles don’t count, FYI). For each milestone you reach, you get cool swag, and your name on a plaque. Currently, I have my Master’s Degree in Alcoholism(which honestly, for living out of state for 3 years, I don’t think that is bad!) — which for me, that equates to 250 beers I have tried at Taco Mac. Flash forward a few years later, it was another beautiful day this past Sunday. My best friend and I decided to go back to the homeland for old times sake. We parked on the street, and got a seat on the patio, no problem. It was Sunday, so they had a ton of TV’s playing with each game. The weather was great too, so people watching was awesome too. I was excited to see they had an updated menu(again!), and I tried something I never had before there– tacos! LOL. I tell you what, they were delicious! 3 steak fajita tacos for $ 10. I had plenty of beverages as well. I also realized that– this was the first time I have been since joining Unilocal,so it has been a while! My server, I had had him before, glad to see familiar faces, years later! I also realized, that they renovated their bathrooms as well. Still small, but not divey anymore. This place isn’t for everyone, but for someone like me who can appreciate decent food, sports, nice servers, and a great patio, and still be open 36 years later, I truly appreciate it. If you are not a fan of Taco Mac, I challenge you to come to this location and give it another try– they do try their best to keep up with the times! The only downside is that their draft selection is not as big as other locations, but you have to realize, that this location is unlike no other Taco Mac. In my book, not to be missed!

I’ve been to other Taco Macs in the city, but this one had comparatively better service. Our food came out at a reasonable time, and our server(Mary Katherine — I believe that was her name… five stars!) was attentive. The food was good, but I’ve got to say, the Slow Burn wings were not as stomach-numbingly spicy as the menu would have left me to believe. Still tasty though and everything else we ordered — the calamari and onion rings — was fried food heaven. I ordered a side of apple slices to be «healthy» and as expected, didn’t touch any of them.

I live 5 minutes away and I can say that I might I have walked in while it was very busy and saw dirty tables On big game nights, maybe the place did appear a little dirty-I don’t think they have a big wait staff and I didn’t come for elegant luxury dining. I came for WINGS, RANCH, & A FEWBEERS. The reason I have rated so high– not sure if they allow dogs on the screened it patio BUT at lunch once I got to bring my dog :) that alone makes me so happy. Maybe the server didn’t see him and it was too late but I would come all the Time if they did allow sweet puppies! Hopefully they do. My food has always been good– great service at lunch, of course on games nights they will be a little slow. No complaints here. Solid neighborhood Taco Mac.

Service is awful — takes forever. For as much as it boasts its beer list, the list is disappointing. Food not bad, price not bad.

Just stopped in to grab dinner with the family and catch the game. Ordered drinks and food and had to leave quickly so we got our food to go. The waitress was great… drinks were great… no problems at all. We spoke with the manager to pay our compliments on the waitress. We got home and of all things… my wings had no sauce at all on them. I mean Taco Mac(now T. Mac) has always been known for wings. How can you put no sauce on wings? I paid $ 65 without tip for drinks, some tacos, kids tenders and some plain, fried chicken wings with no sauce. I know people make mistakes but this sucks to get all the way home and have this happen. Not cool to the person in the kitchen who doesn’t know how to do your job.

Not sure about the haters, for wings and a fine selection of beers(including offerings from local breweries), this place can’t be beat! This was our only source of food during the Snowmageddon last year, which I appreciate ’till this day :) They recently added roasted wings to their menu and they’re delicious — I think they’re way better than the fried ones! Get ‘em with the sweet & spicy habenero sauce and you’ll be in heaven. I’m also going to go out on a limb and say they have the best fries in Atlanta: crunchy on the outside and perfectly seasoned. It’s far too dangerous to have this place walking distance from my house.

They’re habitually slow and frequently forget the little things(have had many forgotten appetizers as dessert) but the food is satisfying. The black bean burger made in house is a pretty impressive and tasty patty, you’ll be happy you didn’t pay $ 8 for a Morning Star frozen burger on a fancy bun. Fantastic. Guacamole is top notch as well.

Listed as #48 as the best bar in Atlanta. It’s a lot smaller than the other Taco Macs I’ve visited… the wings are great and the service is good too. However I had to mark it down on two things…1) Once the neighborhood middle school lets out… the patio view is changed into an adolescent playground. 2) During my visit a lady was able to bring a dog into the covered patio, I’m just not big on bringing pets into restaurants… the server was rubbing and petting the dog… glad he wasn’t mind… because I was just wondering is this guy washing his hands…

Surprisingly toddler and adult friendly. Our server Summer was so accommodating and kind. The food was fun, casual, family friendly and tasty. We had the queso dip which is served with ample amounts of fried and soft tortillas as well as a steak quesadilla. My 2 year old son was so delighted and occupied with the food that I actually had a chance to drink beer and catch up with my husband!!! For entrees we had buffalo wings(sauce on the side so toddler could eat too) and a hamburger. It was a casual place with good food. The entire staff was warm and welcoming and they did not make us feel like burdens for having a small child. In fact they(especially Summer) were very sweet to him. We will definitely back soon. Great place for a family to relax and eat.

even though this isn’t the closest Taco Mac to my home, this is my regular. Yes, its the smallest location of the chain with the smallest beer selection, but I like the the intimate feel and the staff here is amazing! I also love that I can bring my dog with me(dog-friendly outside), stake out a table on the covered(and seasonally heated) porch, and request the sporting event of my choice. I used to love their black bean burger(come on, bring it back, guys) and now mostly stick with buffalo hummus wrap and queso — becasue cheese makes everything better

I walked right on in to the sports bar and was told to sit anywhere I pleased, which is typically my preference. It was a little after noon and surprisingly slow. I ordered the T. MAC Hand-Breaded Chicken Tenders(fresh, all natural chicken tenders are marinated and double hand-breaded then crispy fried to order with tangy honey mustard) with a lemonade. I then ordered the original burger(the simple, delicious classic. Half pound grilled beef patty or a grilled turkey patty topped with fresh shredded romaine lettuce, tomato and red onion on our toasted brioche bun.) to go on my flight. There was nothing extraordinary about the meal, but great service. The server checked periodically without any prompt and I watched the game as I dined in.

Still definitely digging the fact that this is the very first taco mac… it was pint night thursday and our usual taco mac hang out in Prado has already ran out of the free pint glasses, so we decided to may as well swing by this location(yeah, this household is serious about those free pint glasses! lol) We found the prado location to be better simply because this place is much smaller and their chairs and tables much too close for comfort. Our server was also very slow. They also only have one toilet(in the women’s) which is annoying for a place that packs their establishment this much. The food was still pretty good, but I do believe this may be the last time I visit this location. The TM in Prado is much better, I believe.

Popped in here on a Friday just after midnight for a bite to eat and a night cap. Sports highlights were playing on every TV so it is definitely that kind of place. They have a good selection of beer and I found the staff to be extremely friendly. The wings came recommended by the staff and were as good as advertised. I also snacked on the chips and salsa all the way through my burrito to fully enjoy my Tex-Mex experience. Food was solid for a chain restaurant, nothing bad, nothing spectacular, but everything just hit the spot the way you want it to. Food was 3 stars but the friendly staff made the experience 4 stars. For late night eats when beggars can’t always be choosers, this place is worth choosing.

Crowded and the bar upstairs had an akward layout. We were even told that the kitchen is upstairs so the wait staff has to run up a down stairs. Our bar tender upstairs was awesome. Our food took a long time over 30 minutes in a busy place but cmon for 10 boneless wings. They were delivered and cold and worse than even B dubs. The waitress went back and told the manager to take care of us. She was a rock star. A couple stars for the convienance and local beers here. Some more stars off because someone ordered a whisky coke and there were at least 5 fruit flys in the glass. The guy got a new one but they left the glass with the fruit flies out for someone to drink?! Wth, have never seen that before.

I was confused right off the bat: We sat down at a Taco Mac, and our waiter was actually friendly! The first thing out of his mouth was not what do you want to drink or show me your IDs followed by running to get a manager the second someone is from out of state, but genuine happiness to be there. My previous experiences at Taco Macs around town has been that of a glorified Chili’s, where the goal is supposed to be to churn and turn the tables to maximize profit, except forgetting about the churn part and wandering off for an hour. Instead, we were met with someone who cared about getting our order right over speed. Granted, it was a Sunday night at 10pm so there was no pressure to rush, but it completely makes me wish Taco Mac had just stuck to this one original location and never expanded. Another thing I like about this location: Their beer menu is actually sorted in a sane manner, by type, not alphabetically with draft and bottle mixed together. The food was the same old same old, but it’s amazing how much better boneless wings taste in a pleasant atmosphere. As always, don’t go to Taco Mac for food, ever. It’s really not very good but not very bad either. However, unlike the other Taco Mac locations, this one is actually pleasant to be inside. There is a severe lack of parking however, considering on a Sunday night at 10pm I had to go park down a side street.

Of the three different Taco Mac locations that I’ve been to, this one is by far the smallest. That in itself sets it apart and makes it a little different experience. I wouldn’t really say«quaint», but it wasn’t the loud, drowning atmosphere of the MidTown and PeachTree City locations… The menu is what it is… you’re not checking this out to see if the foodies think this is the place to go — but here are the essentials: The wings are cooked somewhat dry but the skin has the perfect crisp on them. The hot wings aren’t hot at all. I like the lemon pepper myself. The wait staff is knowledgeable about the beer. When you ask for a recommendation based on a type/bitterness/hoppiness/etc, they can actually suggest something new for you to try.
