Atlanta has definitely blurred the definitions of restaurant, lounge and club. They seem to all be one in the same here. This trend keeps going with Sugar Lounge, a fairly new establishment in downtown Atlanta. It is a lounge. It is a restaurant. However, when I went, it was a club. A local promotions company has this spot every Saturday and my friends and I went on Grand Opening night. Sugar is aesthetically pleasing. As a math geek, I was appreciative of the clean lines and solids that outfitted the place; everything just looked so neat and put together. There are two levels, which provides ample room to mix, mingle and dance. On the night I went, the upstairs level was the spot. Complete with one of the best hip-hop DJs in Atl and packed with people. Small little VIP area off to the side. And guess what else? Water is free!!! I know I shouldn’t be so excited about something that should just BE because water is water(does that make sense? I hope so), but as a person who has paid $ 3 for a plastic cup of water at the club, I greatly appreciate this little feature… and YES, it is a feature. Ladies, there’re many places to sit — you don’t have to stand in those 6″ stiletto pumps unless you absolutely want to. The only reason Sugar doesn’t get 5 stars is because there is absolutely no free parking around the place. But other than that, it’s great :)
