We’re regulars here because this place is simply great. Attentive servers and really good food. Their soups of the day are hard to pick because they’re all good. If they have the split pea and ham, get it and thank me later. Large portions of food that’s reasonably priced. Colorful back porch with heaters in the winter and fans for the summer. Don’t forget about the parking behind the building! Great job SSK, you keep being awesome and we’ll keep coming back.

I had lunch there today with a coworker who raves about it. I ordered a turkey and swiss sandwich on rye(half) and a cup of black bean soup(small). $ 12. The rye bread on my sandwich was stale. The lettuce on my sandwich was spring mix.(? confused, but ok). Due to the staleness of the bread, I could not enjoy this dry sandwich. The black bean soup was very good, the peppers and onions were chopped chunky, so beware if you don’t like that sort of thing. Because the soup was good, I will stick to the soup options if I happen to go there again.

Well… I wish I could comment on the food but it’s not here yet… If it’s gonna take as long as our WATERS then I’m not too optimistic. So… You know, maybe the food is good, maybe the food is not? But when service is as bad as this(as it usually seems to be in east Atlanta) it ruins my entire experience. So this could be the GREATESTBENNIE I HAVEEVERHAD, but when you lose your appetite after being STARVING. Well, food tastes like shit. Honestly, this is literally THEWORSTCUSTOMERSERVICE I have EVERRECEIVED. When the food finally came out, it was ALLCOLD, probably because we were given our food after 4TABLES that had been seated after us did. Didn’t refill our waters. And then when they had made a mistake on one of the orders(what a surprise) the douchebag who is lucky that I didn’t wanna get arrested and throw him through a window, decided to tell my friend to FUCKOFFANDNEVERCOMEBACK because she politely asked if they had actually started cooking it or not. So unfortunately there is this thing called«law enforcement» and that piece of shit’s life was spared. So unless you want to get a cup of water every hour, glared at from a bunch of losers who hate their lives(because their life sucks cause they wait tables for a big titty bimbo), and told to FUCKOFF by people who(once again) hate their lives, then I would avoid this place at ALLCOSTS. If I could give negative stars, this place would receive negative stars. We walked in and put our names in, and continued to watch as people after us were seated before us. We finally said something and were sat later. We sat for 30 minutes before someone finally asked the staff if we had been assigned a waiter yet. She said we had. 25 minutes later we were finally served waters. 15 minutes after the waters came, we finally received other beverages. About this time we realized that everyone who had walked in after us had either paid and finished their meals or were eating them, 15 minutes later two people at the table received their food… both dishes were cold. Then the other dish was brought out, it was cold as well. Slowly but surely the last dish was brought out and it was incorrect. We then heard her put the order in. We asked for a server to double check if it was just put in or actually on the way, they lied and said that it was«on the way» after 15 more minutes, I finally went to the kitchen window and asked if the food had just been put in or if it was actually on the way because everyone else had finished their food and were ready to leave. The greasy looking male immediately got in my face and said«Could you not be such an aggressive tool about it?» My response was that it was just a question because we had things to do and had been waiting for almost two hours at this point(and they were not busy at all at this point). I told him he was being very rude and aggressive too. I said okay just cancel my food order please and we will go elsewhere. He said«Fine, fuck you, leave and don’t come back.» I responded saying we will never ever be back and will not pay for the horrible food either. Not even should servers never ever speak to customers the way that this testicle less male spoke to me, but a man should never ever speak to a female like that. So disgusting and pathetic. Never in my life have I experienced such horrible service to this degree. I work in the service industry and these idiots have no idea how to run a pleasant establishment with good service, smiles, or prompt good tasting food. The greasy fellow and the woman who seriously needs to reduce her disgustingly oversized tits need to go find another career. They clearly hate their lives and their jobs to the point where they bring their miserable attitudes to work with them and treat customers with shitty disrespect that they do not deserve, making the entire experience a horrible one. All four of us then left and went to Cookout and had much better service which is pathetic because it is a fast food joint. This place could definitely have potential if they fired every single person that was working today and got all new employees as well as actually serving the food while its fresh and warm, they should probably clean their dirty looking kitchen that is most likely a health hazard to any and all customers who choose to eat there. The place then might actually have a chance at surviving in the industry. I definitely do not recommend eating or drinking in this place. I’m 100% reporting this place to the BBB, after reading the other reviews on Unilocal,I believe the place needs to big inspected and possibly shut down. FUCKTHISPLACE.

Brunch and a boyfriend who has to be gluten free do not always make the best combination. However, Stone Soup Kitchen makes it’s easy! Not only do they have tons of great egg combos, they also have GF pancakes! Even for someone who isn’t gluten free, they were delicious. I’ve enjoyed the regular pancakes with chocolate chips and blueberries, and I’ll say the chocolate chips win this battle. So far, I’ve always balanced my pancakes with the fruit salad, and been consistently fresh and ripe. No crusty melon that tastes like it was picked months before it should have been found here! Also, the music is like someone has decided to play the soundtrack to my angsty teenage years – which automatically gives it a +10 bonus. Breakfast is always better when it begins with Ruby Soho by Rancid and ends with The Strokes.

Our first time here. Ali was perfect. There when we needed her, left us alone when we were fine. Knowledgeable about the menu. I had # something. Wife egg scramble with sprouts and avocado. Everything was delicious. Lucked out that there wasn’t much of a wait for inside. We were concerned that the heaters might not be enough for the chilly day so we didn’t sit out there. Will be back.

I LOVE the food here which Is why I keep coming back. Yesterday it was literally freezing outside and the heat was either off or on so dreadfully low that I had to keep my coat on the entire time. It’s was pretty uncomfortable and I mentioned it several times to my server(also in a jacket!) and she said that it couldn’t be adjusted. I witnessed another customer bump up the temp and it felt pretty amazing… until the manager(?) came over to turn it back down!!!

This was our second choice for brunch after the first place we visited had a 30 minute wait. It was a good choice. There was no crowd and we were seated right away. We sat in the patio area which was heated. The service was fine and the food was tasty. Nice place. Check it out if you’re in the area.

While the food was good, the service was horrible! The greasy-headed waiter totally did not enter our ticket and then blamed the kitchen for losing it. Instead of apologizing, he ignored us, not even offering a refill on our drinks. He did not even pay enough attention to notice the table next to us(seated more than 10 minutes after us) was finishing their meal and we had not received ours! Really a sad excuse of service. A minimal amount of attention would have received 4 stars and a refill would have got them 5! The kitchen is the only thing positive about our meal!

It’s always disheartening when you go to a favorite place and something goes very wrong. Our checked out, vapid waiter forgot completely to put in our order. He blamed the kitchen but we watched him finally put it in after we asked why people who came in after us were already done eating. He then chose to ignore us, never refilling glasses or asking how our food was. Sad too, cause the food here is great. He needs to rethink his career choice and the restaurant deserves better help.

What happened to Stone Soup Kitchen? It used to be my favorite breakfast place around. But the quality seems to have taken a real hit over the last year or so. It’s not as clean as it used to be, the waitstaff is less attentive, the kitchen messes up orders more frequently than they used to, and the food has become inconsistent. I hope SSK can get it together again. I always felt like I knew a great secret: while everyone else was standing around in front of Ria’s Bluebird or Thumbs Up, waiting to be seated for brunch, I was eating better food and not waiting forever for a table. But my recent trips here make me far less enthusiastic.

This place is one of our favorite breakfast or brunch joints in town. The quality of the food is really good, very reasonable prices, and the service is really top notch. Being at the top of their game with three of the most important things for a restaurant, these guys knows how to manage a restaurant which is why it is always full. The manager/owner is a really laid back nice guy and definitely knows how to take care of his customers. How else does that explain everyone’s smiles even when there is a short wait? If you want a good meal and great service, hit this place up.

My mother and I love breakfast spots. We saw this place on the Atlanta Eats show. So we thought we’d give it a try! Stone Soup is a cute and quaint café. The chocolate mocha was not strong with the mocha taste. The potatoes were okay except the bigger pieces weren’t cooked through, the pancakes were delicious, the bacon was over cooked… like jerky style(I’m taking it home to my dog so it doesn’t go to waste), chicken sausage was great… I love the spicy taste in it and the poached egg wasn’t running like I like it… it was cooked a little too long. The overall meal wasn’t hot, just warm. Our waitress was kind and attentive. I’d come back for the pancakes and chicken sausage. I would also like to come back to try their lunch!

Had the gangsta grill and add bacon for $ 3. Let’s just say way too much cream cheese on my sandwich and someone gangstad my bacon. 1 measly piece broken into 2 pieces. If you have high blood pressure great spot to come and enjoy bacon.

Our Go-to Saturday Brunch place. Great staff. Great coffee. Great fresh food. «Hubs» usually has Eggs Ranchero– eggs on top of delicious beans on top of tortillas, with a red hot sauce, avocados and creama. I have had the delicious buttermilk pancakes, the blueberry hotcakes, but my favorite ends up being the flavorful tofu scramble. With the tofu scramble l have every vegetable they have in kitchen and I have a toasted everything bagel and a fresh fruit cup. Every once in a while we will order lunch items instead. If mushroom soup is on the menu you must try it, that and a half sandwich of turkey, avocado, different lettuces and fresh tomato with red onion on pumpernickel rye bread was a winner for me. Dont forget a homemade peanut butter cookie to go.

Brunch with the ladies on a Sunday afternoon. What is better than that? Very convenient location for those of us in the center of town. Easy access from Boulevard, Memorial, and I-20. Small parking lot in the back, but your best bet is probably going to be the street. I scored a spot right in front of the restaurant. Yippee. We were a party of six and put our name in around 12:30. Probably waited about 20−30min for a table [grab a coffee while you wait, if you wish]. We did first available and luckily that was on the patio(great patio). The hostess asked if we wanted to squeeze in a booth and we were all voted that down. Started off with drinks. A bunch of us got the Planter’s Punch. Yummy! And pretty. I wanted to taste a number of things so I ordered The Usual [two eggs with choice of bacon, turkey bacon, sausage, chicken sausage, or soysage — with grits, roasted poblano cheese grits, roasted potatoes or black beans] with bacon and grits. Topped it off with a blueberry buttermilk pancake. I also wanted to try the French toast bread pudding, but they had run out. Bummer. Was REALLY looking forward to it when I had checked out the menu online the day before. I appreciate how you can get just one slice of various items. Verdict: Grits were HORRIBLE. It was like eating straight up cornmeal. Worst grits ever. Never had anything so grainy and unrefined. Egg was fine– cooked as asked. Bacon was overcooked. The pancake saved the meal. What an interesting pancake though. Thickest one every seen. You definitely should only need a short stack if you are ordering pancakes by itself.

Food was good. Service was a bit slow. Unfortunately, there was water — lots of water on the floor under our table. When I told our server, her response was, «Our dishwasher is on the other side of this wall. When we wash too many dishes, it comes through on this side.» WOW! You might want to fix that!

We came for an early-ish brunch last Sunday. We had to street park a couple of blocks away near a very joyful church. When we arrived at the restaurant there was already a crowd of people waiting for a table. This is not the place to go with any more than 4 people. They were able to seat us immediately for our party of 2, but parties of 3 were waiting 30 mins and parties of 5 even longer. We shared a large picnic table with a small family out on the patio area, which serves as the main dining area. The overall restaurant is a lot larger than I expected but still much more suited to small parties rather than large. We ordered an iced coffee(him) and a iced chai(me) and they landed on the table in record time… in red plastic Coke cups. Glad to have my drink so fast, but some charm goes a long way with me I guess. I had the pig in a jamwich and though it was pretty stellar. I usually don’t like sandwiches but this one was great. The croissant was fluffy and had that nice, light crunch. The ham was plentiful but not too much, and the pepper jam was very tasty. Plus, it came out from the kitchen very quickly. My grits on the other hand, were bland and tasteless. Would not order again. I can’t remember what Ted ordered, but his bacon came out burned. Even parts that weren’t burned tasted like they were, which kind of sucked. Also when the server was offering side items, she mentioned«cheese grits» which he took her up on, but the cheese grits have peppers in it which Ted doesn’t like… so he didn’t touch that dish either after a first bite to try. Bill was paid and we were out of there in under 30 minutes. I was pretty shocked on how quickly we got in and out considering the long line at the front and how busy they seemed to be. Usually I like to linger a bit longer– it felt a bit rushed — but since we were in a hurry that day anyway it worked out.

I just visited Stone Soup Kitchen for the first time this past weekend even though we’ve lived in the Grant Park area for over two years… It was delicious! I was so happy to see all of the vegan options available – and can you believe it – they actually have vegenaise. Finding vegan mayo when dining out is like asking for an exotic substance only found in Antarctica. I had the vegos rancheros, plain(vegan) grits, and orange juice. I would have loved vegan butter for the grits, but I didn’t want to bother our waitress since the restaurant was pretty busy(it was a Sunday morning after all). The ambiance is similar to a mom and pop grocery store/diner. The seating is mixed antique with counters to sit at as well. Baked goods are for sale at the counter and everyone sits pretty cozily next to one another. There are wheelchair accessible tables(but I believe you must enter from the front as the back has stairs and no ramp from what I remember). You can also inquire about catering and holding events at the restaurant. Note, the are only open from early morning to mid-day, so don’t plan a late lunch.
