Overpriced. I finally got to cancel after my commitment time wise. They’re nice(some of them) but not worth it.

This review is for my first visit to the Solar Dimensions in Emory. First of all, I’d like to say that I was visiting from Boston, and I called about 3 times prior to coming and spoke with the manager, Hallison, each time to try to figure out the best deal for me. Since I’m a manager at a tanning salon, I wanted the cheapest alternative to maintaining my tan while I’m away. Solar Dimensions was definitely the place I wanted to go, and Hallison was very helpful with all the special offers I could use. When I came in, I was really impressed with the décor. They had some nice higher level beds, and a mystic HD, and a versa. I LOVED that they had so many options. I did not like that they have low end lotions, and no Designer Skin or Devoted Creations in particular. Then I was speaking to Casey at the front desk, there was another woman there deciding if she wanted a package or not, so Casey started helping me with some options. Then the woman rudely interrupted to say she had to be at a meeting, so I let her go ahead of me because I know how it is working at a salon. I ended up choosing a $ 5 first time tan, and $ 15 spray tan, which I bought 3 of. I got a really good deal and I’m happy with my purchases. So first, I got a Mystic spray tan, and the girl had said she didn’t need to go over anything with me since I work at a salon, which is correct. However, immediately after I closed the door, I heard her hitting on my boyfriend who was patiently waiting in the lobby. I brushed it off, because I’m not the jealous type. However this salon had no booties or footwear to wear while in the booth, and also I opened the door and the floor was completely dirty. I don’t know if as a policy, they only purge/clean the machine by itself and then they don’t clean it on their own, or if she was slacking. But at my salon we purge it, then clean it with 100% germ killing hospital grade cleaning agent, and wipe it down so it’s dry and ready for use. Luckily I know what I’m doing, but I was not impressed that I had to clean the floor myself, because it was disgusting and had mystic solution all over. Then when I got out, I went into the sun angel, their platinum level bed. Casey showed me how to use it, and I went in for the 20 minute session. This bed was overrated, but not bad. I think I am just used to higher-end beds(ergoline) and the fact that at my salon, we have additional personal AC’s in each room which helps me a lot because I hate sweating while tanning. I enjoyed the session, then got dressed and left. I mentioned to my boyfriend how it was funny that she hit on him immediately after I closed the spray tan door, but the ceilings are open so I can hear everything, He said she was flirting with him hardcore, and said a lot of other things that I didn’t hear; and he was interested in the body wraps and she even offered him her employee discount. Now, I completely understand the position of working at a tanning salon, and it makes your job a lot easier if you flirt. But it’s completely unprofessional to flirt with a clients boyfriend who’s waiting for her, and while she can hear you. And to offer him her employee discount, and not me? I will return for my other spray tans, but hopefully in another location. And I really hope they do clean the mystic floors. Maybe I am just spoiled by how spotless my salon is, and how we are taught to clean, but I have been tanning and spray tanning for 10 years, and I’ve never walked into a bed or booth that was DIRTY like that. This tanning salon has tons of UV-tanning options, two different spray tan options, and Red Light therapy. The facilities are nice, everything looks new, and they have courtesy baby wipes and deodorant for post-tan. Their Sun Angel is a super-intensive bed which can take you from white to a base-tan in one session! I started coming to this location after Solar Dimensions Midtown moved yet didn’t set up their Beauty Angel machine for a long time. Personally, I like the Emory point location better. As for the Beauty Angel, I do feel it’s been worth the money. I’ve been going a few times per week for four months. During that time, I’ve lost a lot of weight and the Beauty Angel’s vibration function has helped my skin stay tight! Generally I don’t buy products. However, Deborah was super friendly and genuine when she shared her experience with them, so I bought from her. She is my favorite person there and I look forward to seeing her when I come in – even though we only talk for 30 – 60 seconds, lol. The address does not show up in my GPS. If you have the same problem, just enter in 1600 Clifton Road NE and it will bring you to the correct corner. The Emory Pointe shopping center is directly across the street from CDC. There are a lot of cool shops and restaurants nearby, so weekends can be a challenge to park. If you decide to park at a meter, look at it first. Flashing red means you need to pay, flashing green means there’s some time left. All parking fees are credit card only. The meters charge $ 1 for parking directly in front of salon. There is free 2-hour parking in the parking deck.
