This was my baby’s first daycare until we moved away. The initial reasons I chose it were the good facility(separate dark infant sleeping area, outdoor activity area from every classroom) and the fact that this is a long-running non-profit childcare center. Since we started, we have more reasons to love Sheltering Arms IVCC — we loved ALL the teachers. The administration is solid, too. These two things combined really make me miss Sheltering Arms IVCC! A place where working moms get her peace of mind leaving for work. :)

I can’t speak to the care aspects, because we couldn’t get past the atrocious costumer service. The wouldn’t return any of our calls or emails for months. When I was finally able to get someone to respond(after complaining about this behavior), it was(a) five months later, and(b) they told me that — despite sending us an automatically generated email saying the would follow up with us – their policy is not to follow up with people unless they are asked(which we did, and they didn’t follow up anyway). I’m not sure how they stay in business with such total disregard for customers.

Fantastic day school that gives children a head start in a multicultural learning environment, that leads them to learn and appreciate their community from a very early age. Staff is impeccable, and the curriculum is top notch.

Love this place. Can’t speak for all of the locations but the IVCC is awesome. From day 1, I felt very comfortable leaving my infant with them. Our teachers are awesome and everyone there(including other teachers and staff) know pretty much all the kids and are good to them. One morning, I went to drop of my son(now 10 months, but started attending at 3 months) and as soon as he saw one of the teachers, he immediately wanted to go to her. When I shared this story, one mother who was listening took a defensive view thinking that my son loves her more than me. My thoughts? I think it’s great that he wants to go to her(and to the other teacher). If he DIDN’T want to go to them and cried about it, I would be concerned. Each afternoon, he gives staff up front smiles as well. I think this is the consensus based on a couple of the other parents. If you are looking for diversity(white, black, yellow, and whatever other color + all races + all ages + all income levels), this is the place for you. If you don’t want that diversity and want standardized everything(income, race, etc.), then I don’t recommend this place for you. They’re NAEYC accredited and do an awesome job of keeping your child«on track»(give or take as I recognize that ALL Children are different and have their own timelines) in his/her development. They really work with each of the kids to encourage them in developing new skills. They have protocols for entering the classrooms to keep it clean, especially for infants. If you’re interested, you better get on the ball and get your child on the wait list as soon as possible. My husband signed our son up 5 months in advance, I think. Do your research and wherever you go, get on the wait list. Currently, they have a long wait list for the infant class, I believe. The teachers and staff here are awesome! i would definitely recommend it to anyone and everyone. LOVE them!
