What a wonderful place to spend time and explore Midtown Atlanta. The innkeepers were the perfect hosts and maintain a beautiful home. Breakfast was top-notch. We enjoyed our stay very much.

Just recently stayed there with my girlfriend a week ago! Was greeted with hospitality and charm from the moment I passed the threshold! Innkeepers are super professional, lovely people with all-around friendly tips for tourists and newcomers! The inn itself is gorgeous, everywhere you turn will be a snapshot of Southern charm and Victorian elegance! But Victorian charm does NOT mean Victorian comfort as each room is equipped with modern comforts and conveniences all presented in beautiful furnishings. Breakfast at this inn is a real treat. Gourmet food is a signature of an excellent B&B and Shellmont is surely a representative of this! The zucchini bread alone with a cup of coffee will stick to your ribs and leave you craving more(this is from someone who is NOT a zucchini bread fan!) but the baked eggs and spinach salad were just perfection, light enough to leave you feeling energized and delicious! The location is within walking distance to several shops, conveniences and attractions so for your next Atlanta, GA stay please go no further than the Shellmont Inn! A perfect getaway for two! I can’t wait to make my next reservation there!

Love this B&B for both personal and business travel. The owners are lovely and fun to talk to; the rooms are clean and decorated to take you back in time. Some of the rooms have really nice jacuzzi tubs and one has a charming clawfoot tub. Breakfasts are delicious, especially the zucchini and banana breads. Each day there was a delightful treat waiting for me in the room, like chocolate covered fruit or a warm brownie. Can’t beat the location either, as it is close to restaurants, pharmacy, a MARTA stop, and Zipcar stations.

I have always wanted just a small, family only intimate wedding. When I started looking for a place, I quickly found myself very frustrated in finding a venue that could be special and within my budget for a small ceremony until I found Shellmont Inn. I live in Atlanta, so trust me when I say the location is perfect. You are close to everything, but feel a world away in this beautiful old house. We got married in the garden of Shellmont Inn with our family standing around us(total of 8 guests). They handled all the details. I was able to provide my own music and flowers(but they will do this for you too if you prefer) and they also provided the most WONDERFUL cake(which they even wrapped up for us to take to dinner with our family after the cake cutting) and beautiful champagne flutes that we got to keep. The gardens and the house are just simply beautiful. Ed and Debbie, the owners, were both there and helping us with anything we needed. We actually found ourself running ahead of schedule and decided to bump the ceremony up and they gladly accommodated us. We spent our wedding night in the carriage house. I just cannot tell you how perfect it is. We will definitely go back and celebrate there even though it is only like 12 miles from our house. You are in a beautiful suite behind the house. You have your own porch and kitchen. We came back after dinner with our families and they had thoughtfully left us a couple of slices of our cake, chocolate dipped strawberries, and rose petals in the room along with our gift wrapped flutes. There is a fantastic jacuzzi tub, steam/shower combo, and everything you could possibly want. In fact, our families had given us a bottle of champagne and there was actually a bucket and flutes in the kitchen for us to use! We had to get up early, so I was able to make coffee in our kitchen. It is one of the few places I can honestly say felt like home, because everything I could have needed was in the house. They brought over an amazing breakfast for us to enjoy before we set off on our honeymoon. If you are looking for a small and intimate wedding, look no more. This house is perfect. It is simply beautiful inside and outside. One thing I really liked about it vs some of the places I looked was in the event of rain, the house was amazing and still would have been a beautiful backdrop to my photos. The owners are just simply amazing and incredibly nice people. If you are looking for a romantic weekend in the city, this place is perfect too! I just cannot say enough nice about my experience here!

My partner and I stayed for 3 nights in the Downing room. The owner, Debbie, was pleasant and helpful before we arrived and during our stay. The room was clean and comfortable and as spacious as any hotel room. My partner appreciated the claw foot tub for a soaking bath. The location in Mid-Town was very convenient and parking was available in the building’s small garage or easy on street. We only took advantage of the breakfast one morning but it was yummy and filling and the nice touches such as chocolate covered strawberry’s delivered to the room in the evening were much appreciated. My partner loves B and B’s but I am more a fan of traditional upscale hotels. He LOVED the Shellmont and I would oblige him with another stay there without hesitation.

This place is the ideal B&B. It offers old southern charm but has been infused with modern luxuries, like the beautiful spa-like bathroom we had in our suite complete with Frette bath towels. The room was large and super clean. The gardens are lush and the veranda is a great place to sit and unwind after the day. Their attention to detail is unbeatable here; even leaving us sections of the local news that they knew would be of interest to us. The location is unbeatable. We rented a car for the weekend but The Shellmont is right in the middle of everything going on; we could have walked to most of the places we went! Debbie & Ed are great hosts, Debbies breakfast is outstanding. We cant wait to come back again! PS– Thank you for the waffle tip ;)

I like what Katie P. said about the rooms being Victorian but not stuffy. For instance, in the room I stayed in, there were no dusty curtains but instead shutter-shades. Debbie and Ed are great hosts. The breakfast was wonderful. I loved soaking in all the details, like the Tiffany windows, the potted bamboo in front of the white lace curtains, the taste of honey in the quiche crust, the creaking hardwood floors, back issues of Garden & Gun magazine next to an old rocking chair. Everything, from the décor, the food, and the way the house is run, is done with obvious respect for heritage without sacrificing contemporary expectations.

The Shellmont Inn is a wonderful alternative to the big hotels of the Downtown/Midown area. Tucked just two blocks off Peachtree St, the neighborhood is residential and full of large shade trees. Debbie and Ed are wonderful hosts and will give their travelers a great impression of southern hospitality. The B&B is not a stuffy Victorian, but a clean and crisp, well-maintained piece of Atlanta history. The rooms(although pricey) are generous in size, with comfortable beds. As far as price goes, when you consider the large, high-quality breakfast included every morning, and free WiFi, it is about the same as the Hilton up the street, which charges $ 12 for grits, and hourly or daily for WiFi in your hotel room.
