Ran across them one day when we noticed they had King of Pops. We went back today for lunch and it was excellent. W had a couple of salsas including a slightly sticky one with eggplant. I do not prefer eggplant so I was hesitant but it was delicious. My wife had the chicken burrito and I had lamb. You can shoes from sauce and salad that goes in with it. You also choose the bread/wrap. They were both very good. The orange mint tea is the best tea I have ever had. Then of course we finished with a Popsicle form the king of pops.

I came by to find the nearby storefronts deserted but I could see light from the back of the restaurant so I made my presence known at the front door. The owner came out and informed me in a long hilarious conversation that their building was being torn down so they are in the process of finding a new place to be. The owner is amazing and very helpful! Anyway — they hope to have a new location soon and I cannot wait to update this review.

The Sheik will make you Shriek with pleasure. Did a company lunch thing at Sheik Burrito and now have it on the list of cool places to take a special friend. The food is unbelievably unique. A blend of mexican and persian and with a dash of southern. The owner will come out and greet you explain the restaurant(and gave me a little Soup Nazi vibe as well). He was super laid back and cool but is a very unique dude. Had the ELPORKY-PEACH for $ 9 Berkshire Pork Top Sirloin, Sautéed Peaches, Chic Caesar, in a Flour Tortilla. It was pretty good though next time I will get the La Dika Dirk lamb burrito. The hummus is amazing and possibly my favorite was cookies and cream ice cream pop. Will absolutely be back many times in the future.

I guess it was just not my thing. I like my burritos fatty and mexican. I’m just not sure about the spices that were used for Sheik burritos. I’ve spoke to a lot of my friends about this place and it was pretty 50⁄50. Seems like it’s one of those places either you love or hate. The only thing I liked was the eggplant & cheese dip appetizer. The homemade chips were amazing as well!

The unique concept of Sheik Burritos n Kabobs — Persian and Southwest fusion. Persian burritos, anyone? The combination results in some very good burritos that are aromatic in flavor and are quite delicious. Sheik has made it out to a couple Unilocal events over the years(Gold Room in 2010 and Le Fais Do-Do in 2011), but I never visited their brick and mortar store until recently. The restaurant has been operation since 2010. Jahan, the owner, is very friendly and humble. He is a founding member of the Atlanta Street Food Coalition and hopes to unveil a Sheik food truck at some point(hopefully, this year). Sheik is located in a strip mall near the intersection of Piedmont Rd. and Cheshire Bridge Rd. Location isn’t bad, though I wish they were more visible. I live in Midtown and have driven past Sheik a countless number of times, but never really noticed it. Sheik is a typical, casual, hole-in-the-wall eatery. The inside is small, but there is sufficient seating. There are regular tables with bench-style seating, high-tops with bar-style seating, and two HDTVs mounted high. The mural inside is amazing. Kudos to whoever painted it. It’s a colorful and fun representation of Persian culture and cuisine. My favorite part of the mural is the Iron Shiek grilling some kabobs in the dessert. There is also a small Iron Shiek action figure behind the counter. I asked Jahan about it and he’s actually friends with the Sheik. The menu features a variety of freshly-made Persian dips, soups, stews, and salads, kabobs, and burritos. There’s a selection of pre-made burritos(both Persian-style and regular Southwest-style) and you can also make your own burritos, burrito bowl, or kabob plate. I like how they give you the option to customize. Each burritos is between $ 8 – 11 and come with a small side of chips and Persian salsa. I really like Jahan’s recommendations, some of which include: Chic Dip — cheese, eggplant, and herbs La Dirka-Dirka(burrito) — lamb top sirloin, «Bad-Man-Jon»(roasted eggplant, lentil, and tomato sauce), red spinach salad Al DC-Cabbie(burrito) — grass-fed ground beef kabob, yogurt, cucumbers, garlic, mint, grilled tomatoes, onion, parsley The house-made dips come in three sizes(4 oz, 8 oz, and 16 oz.). The 4-oz size is good enough for 1 – 2 people. The chic-dip is quite flavorful, with a little bit of a sour twinge to it. Jahan says it’s spicy, but I don’t think it’s that spicy. The La Dirka-Drika is quite a filling burrito. The tortillas are made of flour. The cuts of lamb are fresh, savory, and there is no gamey aftertaste. The Al DC-Cabbie burrito is superb. While not as thick and heavy as the Dirka-Drika, I prefer the DC-Cabbie for its blend of flavors. The yogurt and mint make it fragrant and appetizing. The Persian salsa served with the burritos is a «dry» salsa that is composed of chopped up tomato, cucumber, red onion, mint, olive oil, and citrus. The tortilla chips served the salsa(and dips) are flour-based and a tad hard. Sheik also serves a variety of drinks, including mixed alcoholic beverages. Non-alcoholic drinks are a good value(between $ 1 – 3 with free refills). Try the«Sheik Tea,» made fresh in-house. You can get it hot or cold. It’s very refreshing. If you want to sweeten it up, use some of the agave nectar supplied table-side. I think it’s awesome they provide agave nectar at your table. Also provided at the table is a seasoning(crushed berry) and a special homemade hot sauce. Desserts include baklava and even King of Pops. Sheik has partnered with King of Pops and provides a limited selection of gourmet popsicles in the restaurant for $ 3 a pop. Plenty of free parking outside. If you’re looking for a burrito, but don’t want to try the same old thing(Moe’s, Willy’s, Chipotle, etc.), I’d definitely give Sheik a try. If you like Persian/Middle Eastern food, even better!

Oooooh. Ooh ooh ooh. I am a little obsessed. The neighborhood isn’t totally inconvenient for me to get to, the food is totally rad no matter what I’m in the mood for, and there is a STUPENDOUSLY attractive guy who works here. Hey youuuuu. Shardule S. told me about this joint a couple of weeks ago, so I ventured out on a random late Thursday afternoon. I had just quit my job and was in an AWESOME mood… traffic happened to be crazy because it was monsooning, but I was starving and decided that my first celebratory meal was going to be a dang Iraxican burrito. And so it was. And it was SO worth risking my life to get there. Aforementioned Attractive Guy broke the menu and the food-style down for me, let me stare in awe for a couple of minutes at the many many options in front of me, and finally I decided on the Dirka-Dirka, the Chicote Dip, and some baklava. It was all ready for me in a matter of brief minutes, and on the way back to my hotel room it pained me to get wafts of my lunch while I was sitting around in gridlock. I tore into the baklava while still in my car, and was so excited about it that I may have traveled in the breakdown lane to get to the rest of my food faster. My burrito was so stinking delicious. I am in looooove. In all honesty, there wasn’t quite enough lamb on there for my likings, but there were plenty of veggies in its places, which was probably healthier for me anyway. The chicote dip was warm and spicy and eggplanty and amazing, and the cucumber salsa that came on the side made the whole thing extra awesome. I need to come back here again and again. The space is not special and pretty small, so unless I’m flying solo I’ll stick with to-go orders, but beyond that, I couldn’t be a happier camper. Fresh, delicious, creative food… nice people… couldn’t be better.

Looks like a hole in the wall, but this place is surprisingly clean and cozy inside, although the seating on the right side of the restaurant is somewhat awkward — a small, barlike attachment to the wall with some bar stools where you get to admire yourself in the mirrored wall while you eat(great for checking for food in your teeth post-meal). I had the Persian style burrito with the tiger shrimp, feast-n-june sauce,(semi-sweet ground walnuts, pomegranate, and carrots), basmati rice and yogurt, and sheik’s salad(romaine, golden raisins, pistachios, parmesan, mint n apples, tossed in Sheik’s Tangy Dressing). No idea what I was doing when I randomly selected these things, but the end result was very tasty and the portions were pretty good. The main guy/owner was very nice but I wish service was a little faster. Overall a good experience. They also had free Dictator stickers.

I really wanted to love this place because I am a huge fan of foods of different cultures marrying and having babies. Korean tacos anyone? But honestly, I don’t know why this place has such great reviews. Now don’t get me wrong, I love trying new foods and I’m one of the least picky eaters. But for some reason, Persian food just doesn’t do it for me. I ordered the Dirka Dirka(lamb burrito) in a kid’s portion. The contents looked similar to a shwarma warp from Jerusalem Bakery, but the taste is COMPLETELY different. Instead of a rich warm taste, you’ll get a fresh herby mature taste, which I think only works for a very specific palate. However, I did enjoy the Chicote dip(mix of cheese, eggplant and herbs). Also, service was kind of bi-polar. At first, the door was opened for us as we walked into the restaurant(WOW). The waiter was really great at explaining the menu and being patient while three indecisive Asians tried to figure out what to order. However, the food took a little longer, and the orders came out wrong(tortilla instead of flat bread), and it was hard to wave him down and get his attention to fix it. At least he was very understanding about this mix-up and gladly changed it. All in all, it wasn’t the best dining experience mostly because my taste buds weren’t enjoying the party. But that’s good enough reason not to frequent this place. Sorry Sheik, I wanted to like you, but this just won’t work between us.

Here’s one of the«slippery slope» arguments I haven’t yet heard yet from the crazy homophobes who oppose queer marriage: if we let two women get married, then next some woman’s gonna wanna marry a restaurant. Guess what? I’m that woman, and Sheik Burritos is that restaurant. They have vegan food – and it’s not just an after thought. It’s been given deep, intentional, forethought. They have many options, including kabobs! And soups! And salads! They have a burrito called«The Happy Vegan,» and let me tell you, after eating it’s, that’s exactly what I was. It comes with firm Tofu, Black Beans, Guacamole, Red Spinach Salad(minus the feta) all in a Wheat Tortilla. You can select one of four sauces. The waiter suggested a spicy sauce of peppers and mushrooms, and I couldn’t have been happier. They also have an «angry vegan» soup with ginger and jalapenos that I will gladly partake of the next time I go, which I plan on being very soon so that I can get my game right before I propose marriage to this lovely place and set the whole aflame with the love that dares not speak its name.

Love the concept and flavors, but overall Sheik doesn’t come together quite right. Seems like a quick, counter service/to-go place, but they have servers, and it’s pretty slow. Confusing. The lamb is pre-cooked to a quite unappealing, dry and mealy consistency. Kibbeh was wonderfully seasoned, but chewy. Salad with mustard seeds and green apples was fantastic. Kid cheeseburger is really a kibbeh wrap. Even with Smob, it was $ 30 for lunch for 2 and a kid. Cheers~

Alright, Scoutmob, this is what you exist for, and when your model actually works for a small business: we likely wouldn’t have come here without the coupon, as it’s slightly spendy(the kabob combo plates range from $ 12-$ 18, burritos around $ 8.) But we’ll absolutely be back, discount or no. Tons of options for all y’all picky folks(I’m in a glass house, as I’m vegan, and my partner is vegetarian.) They try to use local and organic when possible, and have lots of solid vegan options, as well as Atkins, gluten free, etc. Rejoice, picky eaters: they’ll find a way to hook you up here, without making you feel like you have to apologize for it. While a few things do suffer from the«we’ll just take the cheese off» problem, other default substitutions are nice.(To clarify, this is sometimes obnoxious since the chef who designed the menu clearly planned to get some serious flavor out of the animal product, be it cheese, meat, honey, etc.) The owner was, as other reviewers have noted, fantastic. Ridiculously friendly. Ridiculously helpful. Made me feel welcome the minute I walked in the the door, even sweaty from riding my bike 10 miles in the 80 degree Atlanta weather. When I answered«no» to his first question, had I been there before, he cheerily and enthusiastically said«Well then this is your lucky day!» Okay, sure, this might not be everybody’s cup of tea, but we loved this guy. He walked us through the fairly complex menu and we got all sorts of good stuff we wanted, without feeling any pressure or upselling. We had the kabob plate with tofu, basmati rice, black beans, a roasted tomato, a side of diced cilantro and onion, and a couple of(included) sauces: «BAD-MAN-JON: Spicy Roasted Eggplants, Lentils n Tomatoes», and«BANDIDO: Spicy Every Pepper in the House, Mushrooms n Onions». Our(included) salad was the Red Spinach, vegan-ized by taking the feta off. We got a separate side of hummus, which was delicious and very dill-y, and came plenty of delicious soft Persian flat brea, a small portion cup of delicious kalamata olives, and a couple small cornichon style pickles. Everything was at least very good, some things excellent. My partner had a delicious fresh, made to order juice, carrot, ginger, and something else I forget, but the ginger was pronounced, and delicious. I had the Red Hare Brewing(Marietta) Watership Brown, and was surprised how much I liked it. Draft pint of beer($ 4) and fresh squeezed juice($ 3) both reasonable. I was impressed that the tap list(5 deep) had clearly had some thought put into it, not just the usual suspects that crappy beer distributors push onto unknowledgeable restaurant operators. The price point straddles a fine line between fast casual and sit-down restaurant prices. For fast casual, sure, it’s a little spendy(what had kept us from coming in before.) For sit-down prices, totally reasonable, and about what most similar places would cost. Inside has a dozen or so two tops and four tops, as well as a large community table(or it might just have been a couple pushed together.) We sat outside on one of the two picnic tables, and it was great. Plenty of people(car) watching on Piedmont, and an APD clearly cruiser running a traffic trap from the parking lot. I do worry a bit about the long-term viability of the location, in a struggling to dying strip mall on Piedmont just south of Cheshire Bridge. Both shops next door to the north were recently vacant, and at least one other in the same general strip mall apparently was also(Cottage Ethiopian, which which was good, but not better than some other nearby options.)

Ok, such a fun treat today! My friend Jahan is the owner of Sheik Burritos and we ran across each other in the parking lot of the Publix at Ansley Mall. Sheik isn’t open on Monday, but I ended up getting a private foodie and restaurant tour! It’d been awhile since I’d been in(and he wasn’t there the first time) so this was the royal treatment on their closed day. I got to see the cool garden beds they’re doing outside and tour the kitchen. Fun! Even better, I got to sample the goodies that they had in the kitchen for their day-off-munitions: lamb, chicken, guac, quickly whipped up pico and more. YUM! Such a treat. Can’t wait to go back with D and have him sample all the goods! Thanks, JO– such a fun visit today.

The owner of this place really makes it awesome. He leads you through the menu and makes suggestions. The menu is extensive and pretty unique, so the guide is certainly helpful. Freshness is the best part of this restaurant. The guacamole was wonderful as was the shrimp taco. I had the caesar salad which was pretty standard, but why on earth did I get that at a Persian restaurant? Stick to more classic dishes when you’re here! Random fact: They have a full bar focusing on unique fresh cocktails. I’ll definitely be back to try some other items!

It wasn’t as good as I had hoped. Most of the meat was made ahead of time, which you could tell from how dry it was. The flavors were good and the veggies fresh. If only they made the meat to order… Portions are good for the entrees. But the apps were pretty pricey.

My wife brought me here for the first time yesterday with a Scoutmob coupon and I’m glad I ate here. This seems to be a two person operation and they’re doing fine. The owner obviously is the one doing the wait service and he’s dong fine. Yeah he gets caught up when talking to his customers but that’s called customer service. Great food such as the Chic dip is fantastic and the Sheik Burrito was a good as it gets. Be prepared for a shock because the owner looks like a long lost relative of Borat and has bangs of personality. He definitely cares about his craft and it shows here. I highly recommend this place for anyone. The food is all organic and local and it shows. The Sheik Tea was also completely refreshing and if you put sugar in it I will find and destroy you. I will most assuredly become a repeat customer.

Yummy kabobs– all kinds! Chicken, scallop, beef, tofu, etc. Plus, super fast, affordable, healthy and tasty«burritos» if you can even call them that. Gluten-free and vegan options here too :) A nearly impossible combination of great things, but Sheik’s got it for you. (Only downside for me was too many onions, but otherwise really yummy!)

There are things I love about this place and(as usual) things I strongly dislike. First the positive: The food is very, very good. It is well prepared and healthy. It is perhaps a step or two above the usual Middle Eastern fare. The wraps /burritos are pricey but generously portioned as well as very good. Now the negative: The image /packaging is all wrong on too many levels. The counter menu is not up-to-date and one has to read the paper /takeout menu to figure out what to eat. But both the paper menu and the counter menu are hard to decipher with too many items and choices. The most pressing problem is the place insinuates itself as a cheap, fast burrito(or pita /kabob) joint when in reality it is an upscale pricey Middle Eastern /Persian /Southwestern bistro in disguise. And there is no fast in /fast out — even with«to go» or takeout service. I really don’t understand, see a need for, or recognize evidence of enough to rationalize the«Southwest» labeling or «Southwestern» infusion in the name /menu. What I can see evidence of is an organic /locally grown /locally harvested /local farm-raised livestock aspect /kind of thing — but certainly not the Southwestern thing. I don’t like the confusing labeling /mislabeling /identity-addled aspect at all. So I clearly understand the identity issues or deception issues others have encountered or insinuated in their first /initial visit. The appetizer spreads with chips(though quite good) are overpriced. As some others have mentioned, Jahan needs to lay low(perhaps find a hobby or some other distraction) and not be such an overwhelming or overbearing presence. Bottom line: I will return; however, not nearly as often or with the same frequency that I afford other similar spots like Papouli’s, Dalia’s or Mediterranean Grill.

With the inducement of a social living coupon, and an attractive menu, my wife & I dined here last night. We quite like ethnic cuisine, and we were not disappointed. This is a small, communal style dining room, and everyone is casual and friendly. One walks up to the counter, and after having the assorted menu explained to you, you order, and 5 minutes later you eat. We ordered two glasses of wine, and took them to our tables while we perused the menu in detail. The counter man came over to us a few minutes later to take our order – a nice touch! While the wine was good, even though it was a full glass, it was a tad steep @ $ 8. However, we enjoyed a 2nd glass with our meal, and staggered home. My wife ordered a chicken burrito which she thoroughly enjoyed. There were an assortmernt of spices, flavors, textures, etc., that made it go down easily enough. I ordered a mixed plate of beef and lamb kebobs, also with the assortments, and a great salad, all for about $ 18. It was delicious and very filling. Total cost was $ 58, or $ 22 for the food. Beer is also available. The owner/chef served us, and later came by to check on us. All in all a very pleasant experience, and one we look to repeat.

What a great way to celebrate Persian New Year! «Cutting Edge Persian and Southwestern Fusion» does that make any sense? Well in the case of Shiek Burrito & Kabobs it goes together like«bread and butter.» Located in a shifty shopping center next to Taco Cabana, this place is a great«hole in the wall» place for lunch. Nestled near a busy intersection, this«jem» can be easily over looked but scanning the business signs, you’ll do a double-take when you read«burritos & kabobs». It’s a looney concept and restaurant idea that works in so many ways. From the colorful painted mural wall, deli fridge filled with tasty Persian side items, and an actual owner operated restaurant, this is truly a local foodie treasure. Order the lamb burrito, about 1lb of food it’s filled with fresh spinach, diced beets, aromatic rice, fresh herbs & vegetables, and lots of flavorful chunked lamb. The wrap is not a traditional corn or flour tortilla but(I’m assuming) a Persian style flat bread/tortilla. Didn’t care much for the bland tortilla chips and salsa as a side. My advice, throw out the chips and pour the salsa on top of the burrito. Once you’ve had Sheik’s burritos, you will never go back to Moe’s gut-busting«Joey(Barf)bag of Donuts». I think my «high» just wore off. I’m ready for another burrito fix.

Attention all vegetarians, South Beachers, omnivores, vegans, celiacs, lactards, spice wimps, organics, and foodies: you will find something to eat here. Something quite tasty. Kebab meat/tofu. In burritos. Why didn’t I think of that?! You can get your fixins served via typical burrito tortilla, fancy Persian pita/naan-like bread, or solo in a bowl. You can get things topped with something super spicy or something more sweet. The options are nearly endless, and I love it for that. While I am seemingly the only one who does NOT love their cheesy names, I do love their food. I had a camel something-or-other: skewered chicken with a tomato/cucumber salad, yogurt and feta, and an absolutely delicious pomegranate/walnut spread/salad thing. Yeah, a lot of dashes, but this is unlike anything I’ve ever had before. I got it completely breadless served in a bowl with rice, and it was delicious. The chicken was the slightest bit dry, so I think next time around I’ll try some of their other meat options. That pomegranate/walnut stuff was the absolute jam, though. I went in just the other day and prices were pretty apparent on the menu. I loved that they accounted for tax so that when you actually make your purchase it’s a nice round number. Service was wonderful and very helpful in helping me make a decision as to what I wanted to eat. It’s just a super casual, easy in-and-out environment, and I’ll be back for sure.
