Last night I went to my first PEDS-organized meeting and there’s a lot more that I understand about Atlanta and its sidewalk needs. The most obvious thing is that our black population is grossly under-represented when it comes to pedestrian access. I was in a room mostly filled with wealthy white people complaining that the city should pay more to fix sidewalks. Currently sidewalk and curb repairs are the responsibility of the abutting property owner(a/k/a these same wealthy white people). I’m actually fine with the current system, but it needs to be enforced. That was also very obvious after this meeting. Kudos to PEDS for actually bringing attention to the situation. Again, I still doubt their mission, purpose, and usefulness. The alternative is probably having no one to do the job, so I guess in that sense I’m happy they’re here.

Really wish PEDS would meet with MARTATRANSIT and request they honor the CROSSWALK and stop at or in FRONT of cross walks to let the riders off. When MARTA let the riders off pass the cross walk the riders walk all in the middle of the streets causing a car to hit them. JAYWALKERCITYONWASHINGTONST. INFRONTOFCOMFORTINNHOTEL!
