PCAC certainly looks the part of an upscale urban athletic club. Fluffy white – sometimes even still-warm – towels grace shelves around every corner. A view of the Atlanta skyline, leather sofas, big screen TVs, a spiral staircase, disposable razors, sanitized combs, hair driers, racquetball courts(nothing really says«executive fitness» quite like a racquetball court, eh?). And yet… the women’s sauna and steam room have been broken since perhaps a month after I joined(about a year ago) and have been left in a state of disrepair despite promises that a fix was coming soon. I, like another reviewer here, was promised when signing up that the pool would be up and running again in a matter of months. No deal. I haven’t seen even a hint that work was underway on it. Look up and you’ll see neglected water damage covering much of the ceiling and walls. Bring your own yoga mat to class, and on a bad day, you might find a pretty gross amount of other people’s body hair stuck to the bottom when you roll it up. Given that the membership rates are higher than at any other gym in the area, I’ve been pretty shocked by PCAC’s lackadaisical approach to maintaining the«fitness» of their facility.(Not to mention lying to customers about the pool and other repair issues! Alas, I’ve finally wised up and will be switching to an LA Fitness with a pool, even though it’s a chain and farther from home.) I do want to add that the staff are friendly and pretty well-informed on matters of fitness, the machines are in good repair, and the yoga instructors are good. If I wasn’t dying to swim some laps, the convenience of the location and the fact that it’s never overcrowded would keep me at PCAC.

One of the top fitness clubs in Atlanta! It’s comparable to Equinox in NYC. I was in Atlanta for a week and worked out there everyday. Each class was amazing, equipment up to date, club was clean, friendly staff… If I lived there I would most definitely join.

Not too bad for an athletic club set in the heart of downtown. This gym is located on top of the Courtland Street parking ramp on the 9th and 10th floors. Its somewhat expensive for a month to month membership(around $ 90.00 a month), however, they do validate parking. I stopped in today after work to change up my workout routine and for a change of scenery. Back in the day, PCAC was sister company with Athletic Club Northeast, but they soon parted ways, and ACN took most of their members(including me). It clearly shows. During my work out, I swore I saw tumble-weeds rolling down the corridor! At first, I forgot why I left such a nice gym, but was clearly reminded by the horrible traffic on Courtland Street(outside the parking structure’s entrance) and the stink of foot funk, b.o., Ben Gay, and two day old soup from the locker-room. The equipment is nice, but clearly is old, as many of the machines squeak, probably from the lack of use. There used to be an olympic sized pool there, but was shut down for good when I left about two years ago. Rumor has it the foundation of the parking structure kept shifting, causing the pool walls to crack– costing over thousands of thousands of dollars to fix. Pretty decent work out for those who live downtown, or hotel visitors. I had a good time strolling down memory lane as I worked out, but I’ll won’t be signing up for another membership here.

I’m very happy here. Best gym membership I’ve had yet(I have tried LA Fitness, and Gold’s Gym). It’s never crowded. Classes are just«okay». Not very many good ones to choose from. But overall, the place is CLEAN, with plenty of equipment, a track, and supposedly the pool is to be opening back up within the next couple of months(probably a lie the sales guy told me so I’d sign up). It is expensive, but if cleanliness and spaciousness are important to you then it’s worth it. The locker room is nice as well. You are able to lock up your belongings with your gym membership card. Staff is friendly and warm. Also, I LOVE how there are no trainers hounding you about signing up for training programs.

This place is probably the most upscale gym in Atlanta. I belong to three gyms — please don’t ask, it’s a story of obsession. PCAP, as members call it, is a «place where professionals play.» Well, where professional-looking corporate men and women come before or after work and immerse themselves in a power-walk as they dream about more money. First, it’s really clean. You can walk barefoot without thinking about foot fungus like other places. They also give you towels, cotton swabs, lotion, hair spray, etc., so all you need to bring is yourself, plus gym clothes. The staff is really friendly. In the morning, a short, petite woman always greet you with a smile. But here are two areas of concern: the price. It’s about $ 70 to $ 75 a month. Yikes, indeed. Also, the club had to close down the pool recently — and permanently — because of a severe leak. So you can’t swim in this gym. Nonetheless, it’s a rare experience that’s definitely worth a year membership.
