Thank you Frank for all the great years of bbq. I will miss this place. I pray you reopen one day soon.

This is where I discovered spicy ketchup and was mind blown… fries were great and crispy. I’m not sure about the rest but everyone seemed very content. Typical southern portion.

I really enjoyed the atmosphere and the music. The sauce was spectacular! I will definitely be back for seconds.

Don’t judge a book by its cover ! Although this BBQ joint doesn’t look so hot from the outside(or the inside) the food is pretty darn good. First there is plenty of parking … I came on a Saturday around lunch time and it wasn’t too busy. Customer service was awesome !! Guy working the counter was super nice, he promised my food in around 5 minutes but it was ready in about 3 minutes. When it was ready he showed me my order before packaging it up. The portions were huge. I ordered a brisket plate with stew and green beans. There was a lot of brisket and they put the sauce on it when they make your order. I like to try some without sauce so I can taste the smoke. I found some without sauce. The bark was decent. There was no smoke ring at all and the flavor was pretty average. At that point I was glad I had the sauce. Don’t get me wrong, the brisket is good but I’ve had better in other parts of Atlanta. The stew was above average. I don’t like Lima beans in my stew and this had a few but not tons of them. There was also some okra and lots of corn. The green beans tasted fresh. Not salty at all as with most canned beans. I did have to add some salt but at least that was my choice. The sauce does have a bit of a A1 sauce taste to it and is good. I’ll come back if I have the opportunity.

What an appropriate name! One star is about ¾ of a star too good for this food. The BBQ was awful and the sides were equally terrible. But on the positive side, the service was great. Of course there were only four customers in the whole place on a Friday night. I wish I were able to try them again but I just can’t subject myself to that food twice.

The owner is an a-hole drunk. I was the only one in the restaurant and a regular patron. rushed to leave because it «may» get busy with a concert near by. I I was still eating my food working on my first margarita. Never will go back. A lot of us work near by and won’t return either. Good luck jerk !

This place is a complete dive but the food is absolutely delicious. We went Saturday night, didn’t have to wait and our food was out in less then five minutes. The pulled pork was delicious.

What’s the definition of a good Friday night? Grilled chicken wings, barbecue quesadillas, ice cold beers, and Bobby of course. One Star Ranch is my Cheers in Atlanta. As a former ATLien, a Friday night at One Star is the definition of coming home. It’s a dive in the best possible way. The food is delicious. Bobby is the best server and an awesome friend. I dare you not to like One Star, even if you’re a Buckhead hater. It’s just that good. My only complaint about One Star: I don’t have a place as near and dear to me in Charleston. I think they need a satellite location by my new home.

Some of the best bbq in town you will not be disappointed and it’s intresting to read all the dollar bills that are stuck on the walls.

Tried because of a recommendation but we did not enjoy it at all. They were out of brisket at lunch time so we got a vegetable plate and combo plate with pork and turkey. The Brunswick stew had corn and lima beans and reminded me more of a beef stew. The chili beans were very bland, and the coleslaw was watery and tasteless. The meat was dry and did not taste like it had any smoke and was pre sauced with a ketchup vinegar mix. It typically is NOT a good sign when bbq comes with sauce already on it. Customer service was below average and our drink cups stood empty for a long time. They do advertise their margarita and it was excellent, earning them the second star.

Smoked meats. Melts in your mouth. Beef brisket sandwich was my favorite. Super impressed with the quality of food and the extremely reasonable pricing. I’ll be back.

Best Beef Ribs I ever tasted… Almost worth the price… the ambiance was less than savory… especially for the location… remodeling should be considered for a place with such great BBQ

The food here has made me nauseous twice & I realized that the more you become a regular the more the staff gets too comfortable & completely forgets that you are still a paying customer. Your customers shouldn’t catch staff talking down about customers who simply just don’t like the way something was made or the way the waitress reacted to an unsatisfied customer. Would have considered coming to try the food again had the service been been great but bad food & bad attitudes? No thank you!

Disappointing — I asked the waitress to make a recommendation. Brisket plate was boring, smothered in unexciting sauce. The corn bread was dry and overcooked. My friends ordered margaritas and one was ok but the other was poor. Hmm inconsistent drinks on the same order… Yup. Not going back there again.

I just had the best Bbq of my life! Hubby and I got half of a chicken and beef ribs, with jalapeño cornbread and chili beans. The ribs melted in my mouth, and some foodgasms were definitely going on. The sauce was spicy and tangy, just perfect! I am glad that we weren’t deterred by the few that gave subpar reviews. Our tip was definitely reflective of our appreciation and we will be back!

I can’t believe how many times I’ve been in the Buckhead area and have passed by this restaurant without stopping by for a meal. HUGEMISTAKE. This is by far one of the best barbecue spots in Atlanta. Everything is pretty moderately priced and the service is commendable — even after midnight on a busy Saturday night. Our food came out quickly, the servers were kind, friendly, and extremely helpful. Of course the deal breaker for me was the portions –they were perfect. I shared a medium size plate with my boyfriend and we both were left extremely satisfied. After asking for recommendations, a server led us to try the baby back ribs, jalapeño cornbread, and coleslaw. FANTASTIC. The ribs were tender, well seasoned, meaty, juicy and just perfect. The cornbread was the perfect spicy contrast to the cool slaw. I also tried a piece of the chicken tenders — grilled not fried by the way– and I was blown away. Juicy morsels of deliciousness. I can’t wait to go back and try some of the other items on the menu.

Pretty good place. Nothing too exciting. The BBQ is what to order. Everything is smoked on site. Very low key place and very casual. The sausage is great. Wings are good. My favorite might be the jalapeño cornbread which is not that spicy. Limited beer selection but it’s cold and cheap. This place has been around for many years and it isn’t going anywhere anytime soon. Right in the heart of buckhead basically at the corner of Irby and Roswell. Free on site parking. Patio is available and is covered.

Sometimes you gotta go with your gut on things, and let me tell you… our guts were not happy after visiting One Star Ranch. Not only did I not enjoy my food at the restaurant, but by the late afternoon, I was miserably sick. Food poisoning aside, the food was not even mediocre. I split the 3-meat combo platter(sausage, brisket and pork with cole slaw and cornbread) with another person and: — The brisket was chewy and flavorless — The cornbread was dry and awful(I didn’t even finish eating it) — The coleslaw was too mayonnaise-y We also ordered fried pickles, which were okay, but the ranch they served it with was just not good either. The place is tiny, dark, and covered with defaced dollar bills. I just have no desire to ever go back. And I do not encourage you to go out of your way to do so, either.

(a longer version of this review also posted to my food blog, with photos!) One Star Ranch is in Buckhead located on 25 Irby Ave NW, just south of where Roswell Rd dives into Peachtree. I first ate this great BBQ when it was called the Rib Ranch — it’s your typical throwback to a time when BBQ was all about the food and good times — this is a no frills restaurant with picnic tables and ice cold beer — no fancy table cloths here. We decided to eat outside under the cover of an awning, and enjoy all the foot traffic(at one point a handful of Belgian soccer fans walked by, sporting bright orange wigs and hooting loudly — the World Cup match was about to start shortly). I’ve had many of the various types of BBQ offered by One Star, but I basically forced everyone to share a single order of the Beef Rib. If you haven’t had this before, it’s really One Star’s signature dish — it’s basically a large«brontosaurus» rib with the ribeye still attached! It’s really awesome, and for our group of 7 the perfect amount of food that allowed everyone to have a bite. Accompanying the rib was a side of beans(more like chili beans) and a chunk of cornbread. As a group, we also elected to all drink bottles of Shiner Bock — if you’re from Texas you’ll understand. This is perhaps Texas’ biggest contribution to the world of beer(at least in the US). The interior of the restaurant is what you would expect — dark and covered up with souvenirs from Texas and elsewhere — I especially like the«buck» wall with the stuffed armadillo. Service was excellent with our food and drink coming to us in record time. The rib was out-of-this world — if you go, make sure someone orders it and is willing to share! Parking can be a bit iffy — your best bet is to park on the street in the surrounding blocks
