My wife and son bought me for Father’s Day and it was ‘deliciously awesomeness”! Uncle Ricky took special care of us!

Love this place, but when the bartender priority is busing empty tables as instead of serving drinks it’s frustrating, there are 8 people in the bar, why can’t we get a drink. AND he was a dick, made us split our own tab. That is really part of the job. Also when you make a reservation for 8 days in advance maybe call another worker in.

Took my mother and wife here for Mother’s Day this year. They offered buffet brunch. I give props to Old Vinings Inn because while what they didn’t offer a lot on the buffet, the quality of what was offered was VERY good. The Lobster Ravioli was incredible. In addition, the staff and management were very courteous. They made sure everything met our expectations and checked on us several times. I definitely want to come back when it is not as hectic as a Mother’s Day.

I’m only speaking to the downstairs restaurant portion and my rating is based on the food only. Mediocre is too high of a rating for the dinner. Service, setting and ambience is four stars. I could never say you get what you pay for here because the food was so… well, blah. At an average of $ 50 a person(without drinks!) expectations were not met. They need a complete kitchen leadership overhaul. Maybe then I would go back because the place was charming and service really good.

Loved it Super nice Service was perfect and Great Food ! Definitely recommend! Our waitress was great I’m having to type more and more because Unilocal is requiring me to write a book so the review can be submitted and now maybe this is long enough… yes this is long enough

I love this place so I truly hate to say anything negative. However, their Easter buffet was not up to their normal standards. We were very disappointed. The selection of various dishes wasn’t as extensive or as tasty as we expected. This experience will not keep us from returning when the normal menu is served!

I had a really good experience at Old Vinings Inn. From the moment our group walked in, we were attended to and each of us loved our dishes. I had the buttermilk fried chicken with white cheddar grits and greens. It was lovely. The banana bread pudding was to die for. Overall, we had a great dinner at a lovely place with nice people.

Love the Old Vinings Inn. New management has really elevated the food quality. Scallops and risotto are always spot on. I feel that I could order anything straight off the menu and have a first rate meal — just like mamma would make me! The live music upstairs always make for a fun time after eats!

Yet another spot where you should come for the history even though the food is a little lackluster. This spot touts itself as one of the oldest restaurants in Atlanta, and the setting is charming with lots of quaint nooks and corners. Service was a little slow to start off with, but once the two servers working our area figured out who we were to be assigned to, it was fine. The food is a-ok, starting with the bread basket, which is filled with soft, sweet yeast rolls that reminded me of the Sister Schubert’s rolls you can get in the frozen food section of the grocery store. For my entrée, I selected the pecan crusted trout. Though the pecan crust was a little overdone for my tastes, the fish was not overcooked and was flavorful. The whipped butternut squash provided a tasty complement, though I would have preferred it to be a little smoother rather than lumpy. The wine pours are a little stingy for the $ 10+/glass price tag. Next time, I’d try one of their signature cocktails. Valet parking is available for $ 2, plus tip. There are other places in Atlanta I’d rather spend $ 50 on dinner, but Old Vinings Inn was A-OK overall.

Valentine’s Brunch today was awesome! We really love the OVI& decided today we absolutely need to dine here more often! The interior has been upgraded over the last year or so & Lee Shulman has created a very relaxing & beautiful space for dinners! Excellent menu & very well-prepared & presented offerings! Of course the upstairs Attic Bar is in a class by itself! Always fun & lively, The Attic Bar showcases very talented musicians! Apparently they ran out of bar glasses last night as my boyfriends cab was served in a champagne glass & my Chardonnay was served in a small wacky glass! But that’s ok… Still tops on our list!!!

Me and a couple friends made reservations here for dinner on New Years Eve and I was very disappointed. The food was good but the service was not good at all, just really slow. We were seated right away without issue, got our drinks and salads quickly. After this our waiter was barely existent. We had to flag him down to ask if we were going to get any bread while we wait. And after that we had to track him down several more times to inquire about it then we finally got it. So we decided okay while we have him lets just go ahead and put all our entrée orders in. Once we ordered our entrée’s, we waited 45+ minutes before the first entrée arrived and I only ordered 2 sides with a slice of cake. It was really ashame that during our wait, the waiter only came by one time. He said he was going to check on our food but we did not see him again for another 20 minutes when the food finally started coming out. He then told us that the hold up was with the kitchen but honestly on a night like this the service should have been faster and much better. This was my first time and last time coming here. I was just sooo disappointed.

Disappointed with server on New Year’s Eve. He was grumpy and made our meal nothing special. Paid $ 80 for 2 entrees and 2 soft drinks, plus paid valet parking, too. Food was good, but would avoid due to service. So sad I chose this place for our special night out.

Parking: Valet ONLY, which costs $ 2, which you pay when you leave. However, their valet is pretty fast. Now, I have seen people park in nearby businesses and walk to the restaurant, but I wouldn’t recommend it if you’re wearing heels. Ambiance: Rustic with for-sale artwork on the walls, nothing impressive here. Can be very noisy. There is an upstairs that leads to the bar, which is pretty small. I was there for a private holiday dinner event, and it was uncomfortably warm in the main dining area. Service: Horrible! We’ve had to ask our server on numerous occasions to bring our table bread, which she kept forgetting to do. It took a very long time for the food to come out, about 45 minutes. I had their mac/cheese fritter and their fried green tomatoes which were both good. For my entrée, I had their dry aged pork porterhouse which was so dry and flavorless, complete waste of money and my jaw started to hurt after all the chewing. I couldn’t even finish my food because of it. The sides which consisted of mashed potatoes, green beans and risotto was ok. For dessert we had their apple cobbler and flourless torte, which was ok. Their cobbler was very dry. Overall: below average, over-cooked food without any culinary genius(something anyone could make it home with minimal effort), lackluster ambiance and poor service. Would definitely NOT recommend. You’d be better off cooking the same food at home and it would probably taste better and save you lots of money!

Ricky was our server in the private room. He was very friendly and attentive. He made some really great suggestions and we thought the service overall was outstanding. The food was incredible. Our favorites were the crabcakes and corn fritters, calamari, unique meatloaf, pork chops, trout, and scallops. The Inn has a lot of history and is just beautiful. They have valet parking right next to the restaurant. Delicious and we can’t wait to go back.

We typically love the special Sunday dinners at the Vinings in. We invited a young couple to enjoy a meal with us and were not pleased with the quality of the food. It was good but not really good as I expected it to be. The trout was a little fishy and the butternut squash in combination with the fish just didn’t make the mark! Come on guys, we expect 100% from you every meal!!!

We went to Old Vinings Inn for drinks and dinner on a Friday night a few weeks ago. We started out with drinks and appetizers, which were delicious. To be fair, it was our waitresses first evening, but she did not get much help from the rest of the staff and they were not that busy. After we had appetizers, we waited literally 20 minutes before they came back to take our order for entrees. We ordered the scallops. For $ 28 entrée scallops, we expected to get more than two with a few vegetables. All in all, decent place to get drinks and apps but I would not return for dinner.

Food — was not very good overall, the second star was because we did like a couple of food items, $$$/4 pricewise, Service-was lacking. Décor-in a quaint old house Has Valet Parking because they have a very very small lot more info about this later on. Overall disappointing. Our friend recommended but there was just too many things that went wrong to overcome. Had a 7:30PM reservation and when we walked in the host/owner acknowledged us briefly and kept walking by us again and again mumbling«we’ll be with you in a few minutes». Then we waited and waited and waited. There was no place to sit down to wait, even though there would’ve been enough room for chairs or settee. Couldn’t quite understand the wait because there were many unoccupied tables to the right of us When we finally sat down, we indicated to the server that our table was very wobbly and, I kid you not, it was like 2 inches off, our server look at us blankly as if to say«well what do you want me to do. «. Even when she set the red wine on the table and the wine swished violently in the glass as it rocked back and forth on our table she still did not quite get it. Even when we hinted again, she was still oblivious. I was going to stick the napkin or fold some paper to prop it up Our server was incompetent. Firstly we couldn’t hear her description. She was very quiet. She said something about a tenderloin and so we ordered that but it turned out to be a rack of lamb, it had nothing to do with the tenderloin. I don’t know what she was talking about and she definitely didn’t know the menu very well. Had the Charcuterie Plate-The sausage was too salty, hummus type dip was good, crispy cracker and red mystery dip was flavorless, pickled red peppers was OK; lobster mac & cheese was good but it didn’t appear to have a lot of lobster. Beef stroganoff — tasted off, sort of sour, and the mushrooms were way too salty — definitely did not like this. Green beans — good, risotto-OK but the rice didn’t seem to be cooked down so it wasn’t creamy smooth. Cobbler –not good — felt it really needed more crumble and texture. Bread pudding — not really that good, too sweet and tasted like some parts of it was uncooked. Near the end of our dinner, the lady manager noticed our wobbly table and immediately got something to study the table. Thank you. She was good. When we left the restaurant to retrieve our car,(wow the cars were so closely parked, definitely something like a foot apart). The cars were so close that the attendant could barely open the door and slide in, thank goodness he was skinny. we were a little bit concerned that our car would be scratched up from being so close. Also near the end of dinner the noise/music upstairs picked up cuz I think they had a live band upstairs in the bar??? It wasn’t romantic or pleasant to listen to. Hey I totally understand that they r trying to appeal to the late night crowd and expand their clientele and extend their service hours. It was just annoying and it was basically very hard rock music we think. When we got back home, during the night/early morning we did not feel well. Let’s just say we went through a whole toilet roll and there was a lot of fluffing the sheets that night. Ughhhhh Would Not recommend and we will not be back.

Dined with a group of colleagues. We had a reservation for 6 people and had a few more decide they wanted to join our group.. not a problem. From the moment we walked in we were treated with southern charm and hospitality. The appetizers were outstanding. You should try the crab cakes and fried green tomatoes. Oh and the pimento cheese was not a disappointment! Beautiful entrées. Wait staff was attentive and so polite! A definite must if in Atlanta!

Great place to try traditional southern fare with a little flair. Cool spot in downtown Vinings. Perfect to take a date. Candied bacon appetizer is fantastic. I had the Ga Mountain Trout, and my wife had the Shrimp and Grits. We both thoroughly enjoyed out meals. The owner came by our table, and was very nice and engaging. Dont forget to grab a drink in the attic bar.

I’ve lived in the Smyrna area for a while and I’ve been wanting to try this place ever since I realized it wasn’t an actual inn. It was recommended to me by some coworkers that had worked there in the past and I’ve always heard good things. So I tried it on a date, and we ended up having a fantastic time! We went on a Saturday night, which is one of the nights Old Vinings Inn has live music in the attic bar. We got there at 8pm and headed straight up to the attic bar, where the bartenders greeted us and were super friendly! They were hilarious and made us feel really welcome and even gave us some recommendations on the menu, which were very much appreciated since it was our first time at the restaurant. I cannot speak highly enough of the service, out drinks were always full and I’v never felt more welcome when I came into a bar, they greeted us like regulars the moment we walked in. We ended up ordering the steakburger and the bar meal with the sliders, fried green tomatoes, and candied bacon. We absolutely loved our food! It was the most delicious food I’ve ever eaten while sitting at a bar. The fried green tomatoes were stuffed with pimento cheese and were delicious and the sliders were great too. The steakburger was awesome. The drinks were very well made and the minute my cup was empty the bartenders got me another one. The best part about the evening was the atmosphere! The band that was there on Saturday night played a bunch of 90’s rock songs and I was loving it. It was one of the best nights out I’ve had in a long time, I will definitely be coming back!

My BF and I came here last night for Date night and we were really looking forward to it, but we left very disappointed. We had a reservation for 8:30 and when we walked in it seemed busy and the host, a gentleman in a striped blazer, was so inviting and very sad to let us know that they were a little behind and it would be a wait before we were seated. No big deal, but there was no where to sit while we waited and the waiting area is very spacious so there’s plenty of room for a few benches. After about 20 minutes we were seated. The host asked us what the occasion was, we let him know it was our date night, he seated us a the tiniest 2 top in the corner of a separate room. It was private, but there were 2 open 4 tops right next to us, one was dirty during our entire visit. A very awkward female server came over to take our drink order, she did not make eye contact and looked incredibly terrified to come to our table, she did not offer any suggestions. I ordered the Panacea and my BF ordered the Oglethorpe. They were really awful. The panacea is listed on the menu as a cocktail with single malt scotch with honey and ginger over ice. There was zero ice in my glass, the drink was warm and no honey or ginger flavor, also the scotch was very poor quality. The Oglethorpe came in a very girly martini glass and my BF was not too happy with the taste or presentation. The girl just put down our drinks and practically ran away. Another male server came over very quickly and decided to take all of our orders at once, no mention of specials and he did not tell us his name. There was a table of 4 guests at a table close by in the other room that seemed to be having a great experience with their server, he was making jokes and conversation and checking on them regularly, we really felt very snubbed by our server and cheated out of a nice dining experience. A different girl brought our appetizers: truffled Mac and cheese, seafood boil, and strawberry salad. She popped them down and left. The truffled Mac and cheese was not good. It comes as 4 deep fried balls of what looks and tastes like Kraft Mac and cheese with tiny pieces of lobster. The salad was very bland, just a few crumbs of blue cheese, and we laughed because we only had ONE candied pecan on the salad with very dry leaves. The seafood boil was very nice though. The same girl came back and cleared the table very quickly and thought nothing of clearing our ¾ uneaten truffle Mac and cheese, and left before we could explain we disliked the dish. Shortly after our entrees arrived: my BF had fried chicken and I ordered the scallops, they were very nice, both of the entrees. The room however was incredibly warm. We were both sweating and so uncomfortable. We sat there for a while waiting for our or server to even check on us, but nope… Nothing. We had to grab someone to get our server, and he came in and said he took care of our drinks, and dropped the check with zero explanation why, we appreciated the gesture, however, we had not actually seen the server at any point to fix anything that went wrong, and we never even were offered a dessert menu. Not that we would have stayed for dessert. The restaurant was not very busy, they ended up seat in another walk in couple at the larger empty table next to us, and the other 4 top stayed dirty during our entire dining experience. We did not understand why we were placed at the very tiny table when we had made a reservation and we did not feel as if we were very welcome, with the exception of the host, he was very friendly. We will not be back.

Had a date night and chose this as our destination. Sadly disappointed. Salads came out 10 – 15 minutes apart, beet salad had thick goats cheese between layers of beets. Too much! Pork chop requested medium; got raw. Two tries later… overdone, tough. They tried to make it right but just couldn’t.

This has been our go-to place for special occasions for 20 years in Atlanta. We went there tonight to celebrate Mother’s Day, and we we so disappointed. The first waitress was truly«out to lunch» and acted like she would have rather been anywhere but there tonight. We waited a long time before getting water. Then we sat and finally had to ask for bread. When the serving of the meal began, 5 people at our table got served, and the remaining 2 had nothing. We sat there while the wait staff started to serve another table. We requested that our remaining 2 be served. By the time they were served, our other meals were no longer hot. We complained to the waitress, and then the hostess came to our table. When we told her about our service, she was rude, said that was«how we do things», and cast us some«dirty» looks as she was walking away from the table! WHAT??? Then the owner came to our table and inquired. He at least apologized and replaced our waitress with a waiter who served us well for the remainder of the evening. I don’t know if OVI is under new ownership or what has happened, but it was a disappointing experience. I don’t think it is unreasonable to expect well trained and engaged wait staff at a restaurant such as OVI. One positive thing is that at least the food was good, even if lukewarm. Atlanta has too many great restaurants to waste time at those where the service is poor and personnel rude. The consensus at our table was that going forward we will find some other place to celebrate our family events.

Was going to go to Another Broken Egg Café but it was way packed so we came here instead and boy am I glad. The food was amazing and so flavorful. My fiancée had the angus steak burger with a fried green tomato and that was really good. He asked for American cheese and out pimento on it instead. Now I know what you’re thinking, yuck, but this pimento was actually good. It didn’t taste like it at all and had a little bit of spice to it. I had the chicken pot pie and let me tell you it was the most flavorful pot pie I’ve ever had. For an appetizer we had the fried mac and cheese balls with lobster inside and those were really good. There are other things one the menu I most definitely will be going back. Also the sweet tea is very good. I highly recommend this place.

Our pleasant server was attentive and very positive. When explaining the history of the building, it would have been nice to hear it chronologically with the specific time periods relating to the evolution. That history presentation, when done properly, could be an excellent setup for the meal to come. The setting could have been great, it was quiet and romantic, but we were distracted by our hunger. Unfortunately our ticket time was substantially longer than the surrounding tables. Overall I rate the meal as fair. I prefer a little less alcohol within my meals. The beef stroganoff sauce was over saturated with alcohol which wasn’t reduced. When it came back, the dish was drown in the sauce just not as potent with the alcohol as before. The original portion of sauce was ideal if properly reduced. My wife’s meal would have been great if they cooked her chicken thoroughly. They corrected the mistake and she was pleased with her dish. So we recommend the fried chicken if you visit this restaurant but we most likely won’t return.

Came for brunch so I did the corned beef hash — DELICIOUS! Fantastic, cannot WAIT to eat it again. Our server and the manager were SO nice, making sure we were warm enough(it is an old house so it was pretty chilly) and I loved it. Can’t wait to come back for dinner!!!

Enjoyed another great meal at Old Vinings Inn followed by some great live music upstairs. It’s great having a quaint intimate restaurant setting amidst the sea of big box corporate restaurants that dot the Buckhead/vinings area.
