I absolutely love Meringue. The buyers have impeccable taste, so there are always a variety of beautiful, high quality pieces including clothes, shoes, bags, and jewelry. Fashionable but unique; think Seychelles and Ella Moss. They even had Chan Liuu wrap bracelets! Their products are expensive, but I am a firm believer in the adage of you get what you pay for. In this case it’s beautiful, unique, quality clothing. I had the privilege of meeting one of the owners, who was gorgeous and impeccably dressed as well as incredibly sweet and helpful. I even ran into her a few weeks later at a different store after shopping there once and she remembered me! Talk about making the customer feel special. If you sign up for their email list they send out coupons and notices of special sales. And for those of you who get a million emails, they don’t send out a bunch of junk. Maybe around one email a month. This store always provides me with some new wardrobe favorites.

I’m not a boutique girl, but I love this place when I want to splurge on a pair of nice(read: expensive designer) jeans – which, so far in my life, has been twice. The owner is nice as pie, and very helpful with all of her wares. Everything is well put together, and a penny-pincher like me has to be careful walking through the racks. Another thing I’ll add for full disclosure: I like to dress stylishly, but I hate«über-labels», and I avoid paying extra for«designer» duds at all costs. However, the J Brand denim here has become my one exception to this rule, and Meringue is my go-to spot for this indulgence. That’s saying something for a hater like me.

I always looked across the street when I was at Alon’s or Yoforia and saw the mannequins in the windows of Meringue. It seemed to me like a pretty standard boutique with young, fashionable clothes… Boyyy was I wrong. Immediately upon entering the store, I was amazed. Everything. and i mean everything is absolutely to die for. Whoever put together their collection truly has impeccable taste — with a multitude of the most beautiful and unique printed tops and dresses, high quality material, designer denim starting in size 24 sizes(yay! almost neverrr see that in boutiques), and also adorable shoes(a lot of Sam Edelman and Frye). They carry brands you can find at bloomingdales or piperlime such as ella moss, sanctuary, patterson j kincaid(but it’s like they picked the cutest out of each collection) and they also carry brands that you can’t easily find at the mall such as lauren moffatt and eryn brinie!!!(i have ONLY seen eryn brinie in the flagship store itself in NYC). sooo unfortunately, the store is pretty expensive — there is a big sale rack though which has items in all sizes(also rare b/c XS and S always run out!)

So I hadn’t been to Meringue, though I’d seen the pretties in the window, and knew I’d probably fall in love, immediately. I was right. After brunch at Rosebud, I made the(mistake? good judgment call? er…) decision to venture inside for the first time. I left with a new outfit on and a bag of goodies!!! Love. This. Store. The wrap bracelet is heaven. The white jeans(I have never bought such before, but they cried out to me!) are perfection and looked SO good with the Manolos I happened to have on. The fall stuff they had everywhere, the little stretchy scarfs, the cool tees and pretty dresses that could be work or after-hours appropriate(I’d love to go back to venture into that territory but I didn’t even get that far yesterday), the gorgeous little Linea Pella wallet thingy I want… Yes, as it turns out, my shopper’s intuition was totally right. I have a new fave spot. .. and a big credit card bill!
