Everyone is welcome here. I’ve seen amazing drag shows where the place was packed and I’ve been there for low key nights with friends. Very fun for karaōke too!

I’ve never been so disappointed in what I thought was my favorite LGBT bar in Atlanta. The lady checking ID’s at the door was so incredibly rude to my group of friends last night. I had been talking about Mary’s ALL day and I have been going there for 10+ years. She was highly offended when I said one of my friends had never experienced a LGBT bar and proceeded to tell me that«they» were not an experience and that the gay community didn’t want people like us there. The LGBT community is extremely important to me and are people that I advocate for on a daily basis. I apologized to her and said that we just wanted to come and enjoy the bar, however, she still would not let us in or my gay friends. Then, she let’s me know I discriminate bc I was wearing a notorious B.I.G.shirt and that I’m white. MANAGERDIDNOTHING. ABSOLUTELYDISGUSTED. However, the predominantly African American club next door i-Lounge invited us in with open arms and I plan on returning there with my gay, white, lesbian, black, orange, Hispanic, double headed, banana flavored, and multi colored friends. THANKS I-LOUNGE FORMYNEWEXPERIENCE!

Hands down, my favorite bar in Atlanta. Always. Great prices on drinks, friendly and attentive staff and a cozy bar to hang out in whether you want to just sit at the bar, dance, sing karaōke or chill on the back porch. There’s typically a good mix of people here and very welcoming.

They don’t call it the best gay bar for nothing! Good times, come for the dancing! Everyone very friendly.

Absolutely LOVE this place! It can get a bit crowded on the weekends but it’s a fun spot! The bartenders are great especially Matt and Marky! Their new Monday Night Movie Macabre is a blast! Horror movies commentated by the witty Chelsea Daggers has quickly become my favorite thing to do on a Monday! By far my favorite bar in EAV!

I’ve been with a friend a few times now and I like the place. They have weird«smoking» hours though. Yeah… I can see the look you’re giving me now. Sounds crazy right? Well there are times you CAN smoke in the bar and times you CAN’T smoke in the bar. I’m sure it makes sense to some one;-) We had fun… had a drink and then were on our way. But the people were nice and laid back so all in all… yep. Cool place to go. PS we went on «off» nights so as to not have to fight a crowd.

Wished they would go back to no smoking. Also wish the bartenders were nicer to new people. had a friend meet me here and she ate her dinner and never talked to anyone. Drinks are good if you keep it basicm

I’ve described Mary’s to friends as a gay dive bar because it’s nowhere similar to Blake’s or My Sister’s Room or any other gay bar I’ve been to in the South. I appreciate this because it draws queers from all facets and it’s not pretentious. The bartenders are friendly enough, drinks are decently priced, and their drag shows are always the most fun. Dance parties also happen on the regular as well as karaōke. Every time I’m visiting in town, Mary’s on a Saturday night is a must.

Great bartenders however, the karaōke was subpart. I guess being from Nashville I had high standards, but the dj was no where near what I am use to. He was rude and not friendly, and did not bring any fun vibes to the place. Also, I asked when I would be up and he did not give me a correct time because I ended up waiting for more than he said and had to eventually leave without being able to sing. I would go on a night when there’s no karaōke. I guess Nashville has spoiled me.

We came here New Years Day in the evening, which was a Thursday. There really weren’t many people there. The décor was funky and fun. The drinks were good and strong and cheap. The bartender was friendly. This place is not in midtown, where a lot of other gay bars are.

Last night(12÷27÷14) was our third visit. We like the ambience and the vibe of the place. Oddly enough, last night was a bad experience. There were two bartenders on duty. The female, who served us our first(and only) drink was abrupt and not very friendly. We took this in stride, and decided that we would visit the other bartender, a tall biker/bear type guy, for our second. Except that THERENEVERWAS A SECOND. For some reason the other bartender would not serve us, even though we were sitting on stools in his section, with empty glasses and empty looks on our faces. The bar was not busy at the time; it was around 10 pm and there were other empty stools. Did they not want our business? I am 54, my partner is 58. We are not lecherous old bags who gawk at the pretty young things; we have each other. There were other people there within our age range. We don’t know why we were overlooked — or downright rejected. We took our business — and our tips — elsewhere. And it is highly unlikely we will return.

Mary Mary quite contrary. This EAV, mostly-gay institution is quite the opposite of your typical ATL gay bar. It’s much more eclectic, less about standing around looking at or judging others, and just a guaranteed fantastic time. Maryoke is everything people make it out to me: hilarious, riotous. And the best thing is the patrons of this esteemed locale actually shake their groove thangs until the bar closes. It’s an amazing spectacle. Patio for smoke breaks or fresh air. An upper level to watch all the sweaty bodies below gyrate. Two entrances, in the front and in the back. Plentiful parking behind Mary’s and off street – gets a little hairier once the EAV bars get going. But seriously, I will always love you Mary’s. I always get the Angry Orchard here. I also love that gays, straights, drag queens, and lesbians who are too intimidated by My Sister’s Room come here to play. Standby.

Mary’s is a good time whether you’re gay or straight. It is why I really like East Atlanta — you get an eclectic mix of everybody and don’t feel out of place or unwelcome as an outsider in a gay bar. If you’re looking for a whole«You look fabulous darling» experience like you get at Blake’s, then you’re out of luck. This is just a fun bar with cheap drinks. What’s not to love about a place where guys can and do belt out Britney, Cher, and Madonna karaōke.

The time I went it was so crowded I had to squeeze through everyone. As a lesbian, I have never much been a fan of the opposite sex, regardless of their sexual orientation. I ended up having a panic attack on the back deck. I am sure it is great for the hags and the gay boys, but it just was not up my alley.

Good little hole in the wall bar. Wasn’t there at peak hours, but it seems like it would pop on a Friday or Saturday night.

I was there once while trying to celebrate a friend’s birthday. It’s a tiny place. Our group took up like half of the space. They had really bad Karaōke and a so so crowd. We ended up ditching after like 15min, when things just weren’t getting any better. Blake’s is a much better alternative.

This was my first time at Mary’s and it was awesome! My partner and I were only in town for a night and decided to go. While it wasn’t really popping off, it was a Wednesday, the venue is super cute, vibe was chill, the music videos were great, the drinks were cheap and the bartender was fantastic! Bernadette was our bartender and she was so super nice. She even gave us info on what to go check out next since I wanted to see as much of Atlanta as possible. Bernadette introduced us to our first pocket rocket which provided a plethora of information of gay bars all over Atlanta. Later in the evening we met Bill who I believe owns Mary’s and holy hell was he funny. Great atmosphere, great music, great people… what more do you need??? We can’t wait to make another trip back to go to Mary’s!!!

I love Mary’s! Great music, cheap drinks, fun & friendly crowd. The dance floor is a bit small… but it’ll do. I love how the have these little spots against the wall where you can put your drinks or lean your arm on. There’s also a small upstairs area that looks over the bar with some seats. Really fun place! Jason, the most amazing bartender, is what you call a great bartender! I really love what he did… he made our drink and tasted it to make sure it was good to serve. Definitely go check him in action if you’re in the village!

I came here on a Friday night with my brother. We got here a little early before the crowd got busy after 10:00 p.m. I absolutely love this place! Great décor, nice bartenders(drinks were not that expensive), and AWESOME selection of music. Danced all night and before we knew, it was 3:00 a.m. and we totally shut the bar down! This is my go to spot for nightlife in Atlanta whenever I visit from Ohio.
