During this stay at the W, I spent several hours in the Living Room.(Or perhaps more accurately, outside smoking cigars on the patio.) It was better than my experience during my last stay at the W. Vickie is still a terrific bartender. The others are okay. Service was mostly good, although on one occasion it took a long time to get someone to bus the refuse from a previous group. Three out of four servers were excellent. They have a small list of over priced cigars, but you can bring your own. It’s a good place to smoke and have a cocktail. After my previous visit, I wrote: Service and quality of drinks varied greatly during the three nights I stayed at at the W. Vickie was an outstanding bartender. Quick, friendly, and knew how to make the classic cocktails. Unfortunately, she seemed to be one of a kind at the Midtown W. The other bartenders ranged from okay to terrible. I don’t know how it’s possible to screw up a mojito, but on Saturday night one of them managed to do so. Also on Saturday night, I can’t remember another time when I’ve been a guest at the hotel and have been required to leave my ID at the bar to keep my tab open. This was the only time during a three night stay when the bartender even asked for my ID much less insisted on keeping it until I closed my check. Service was generally good, although there were a few times when things were slow and servers spent more time chatting with the bartender than paying attention to guests. Overall, it was pretty disappointing.

Had Matt as a bartender, and he was knowledgeable and friendly. Drinks were prompt and competent. I think this place is a notch or two above the average hotel bar. The menu is ambitious, but they follow through on the details. The indoor/outdoor split is particularly nice considering the local climate. The staff don’t seem afraid to speak their mind about the menu choices, which usually speaks well to management. Décor is upscale and modern.

First time here to celebrate a friend’s bachelorette. This was actually a pretty comfortable bar/lounge on the first floor of the W Hotel Midtown. I had the Lemongrass Drop martini. I’m a fan of lemon drops because they’re usually a bit sweet but citrusy. I had my hesitations about ordering this one at first because lemongrass can be hit or miss. I thought it might have a strong herb taste/smell to it, but it turned out to be delicious. It’s not as sweet as a usual lemon drop and it’s refreshing. I’d say the taste is more like grapefruit than lemon. Oh, and their Moscow Mules aren’t served in copper mugs. :( I think the only con to this place is that cocktails are on the expensive side. $ 13 for a Martini? Meh. Service was good though and our waitress even brought us waters after we closed out.

The décor is interesting, the service and drink choices are good. Wasn’t crazy on the type of crowd — i.e. lonely business

I went midnight on a Saturday night of Halloween weekend… so this was a huge night for nightlife in Atlanta. The décor & drinks are amazing, super awesome spot. Just not quite my Spot for the mood I was in. Warning: at night-if not going with valet-, you have to park in the parking garage connected to the hotel and walk out… the entrance from the parking deck locks at 10. for whatever reason. Drinks are great & nice appetizers. For my young professional bachelorettes that aren’t WASP, not a place to go looking for a fun time and meet cool guys. Instead, a nice place to meet up with friends to drink, dine & chat. The crowd is mostly white people who mostly talk to the people they came with… so do not show up here by yourself. No cover charge, and different levels and rooms to hangout in.

Hmm what can I say. I’m a sucker for hotel bars but this one has little character, and by character I don’t mean the décor which is quite nice but the crowd was a bit iffy. All bartenders were women, I appreciate a mix. And $ 15 for two mini slider burgers is a bit of a rip off. But hey it’s at the W so expect expensive. It has a nice outside sitting area. Music is typical lounge music, elevator like songs. Parking is validated but with what they charge for food and drinks it probably covers parking in their prices. It’s a Wednesday so I didn’t expect a big crowd.

Honestly, this place should be five stars… Lots of staff, tons of room, and the drinks are delicious. Would definitely come back here!

I have stayed at this W Hotel many times over the years and the lobby bar is always overpriced but it IS the W in midtown Atlanta. The bartenders have always been very good until tonight. I ordered a rye whiskey with very light rocks(I specified 2 cubes only) but got a glass with 8 – 10 pieces of ice in it. Didn’t complain though because maybe she didn’t hear me or understand. Ordered a 2nd glass and clearly said I wanted 2 cubes of ice. Got 8 – 10 again. Used my fingers to pull all but 2 cubes out of the glass onto the bar. I think she got the hint. Anyway, I like vibe at W Hotels and just wish this bartender actually listened to customers.

Unilocalers got a little over zealous on this one. Not 4.5 stars. Try 2 but I could give it 3 because I like the patio. No ambience inside, bar and seating kind of shoved in the corner like an after thought. No fung shway. The place is dirty as were the glasses. I did like the patio though, good lay out and being in the city but not directly on the street

Great Dirty Martini’s, Black Raspberry Martini and delicious deviled eggs. Late evening hard to get a seat for two, but eventually found a couch. We met some local who were just the nicest people ever. Georgian’s really are friendly and helpful people. I wouldn’t hesitate to visit this state again.

This is a very nice bar! It has nice seating inside and outside. I can see why they call it the Living room bar! It is conformable like your own living room, but very chic! We were staying at the hotel on a Saturday and we decided to redeem our complimentary drink tickets before we got ready for dinner. We sat at the bar and looked at the menu. They have an extensive cocktail menu! The bar staff greeted us right away. One drink that stood out to me was the Jalapeño margarita! My friend had ordered the Lavender margarita. Both were delicious and strong, but my margarita was the winner for me. If you like margaritas and you like things hot, this is the drink for you! The drinks here are a little pricey, but that’s to be expected. The regular price for our drinks were $ 10. The bar staff were still nice and attentive to us even though we had our complimentary drink tickets. I was afraid they were going to turn their noses up at us while thinking«Cheap mofos». But I’m sure only hotel guests get the complimentary drink tickets, which maybe is why they were still nice to us. This bar has a chill atmosphere and good drinks. I will probably stop by here when I’m in Midtown again.

There was one other person sitting at bar at 1 pm. I ordered sliders and it took 30 minutes. When I finally got then everything was cold. Bartender was more concerned with her phone than serving her customers. Bad service.

Friendly bartender, gave great suggestions for cocktails. Grapefruit martini was so good, my girl friend had 3 even though she said she was only going to have 1 drink tonight. Cute spot with plenty of random seating everywhere. I wanted to sit on every unique piece. There was also a wooden tic tac toe game and some random coffee table books for mild amusement.

This turned out to be a stand out experience on my recent trip to Atlanta. Came here on a Sunday afternoon while my buddies and I were kicking back for a few hours before a wedding. This place definitely has some of the most interesting décor you’ll ever see. Futuristic lights hanging form the ceiling and couches spread out through out the large bar area. We parked it at the bar and ordered some drinks. The bartender couldn’t have been nicer and she allowed me to smaller some rums before I actually chose which one I wanted. Rum selection wasn’t great, but there were a few good ones in there. Se went out of her way to make my buddy a special mojito based on his specific taste and she bought us a round of show as well. All of this made for a very pleasurable afternoon leading up to the wedding. I only wish I came to this place at night as I’m sure the night time scene is probably is probably awesome. I personally haven’t seen any places like this in Atlanta, so this place as a big stand out. I’ll definitely be back here on my next trip to Atlanta and it will definitely be at night!

Living Room is a Rande Gerber masterpiece that also serves as the main bar @ the W Hotel in Midtown Atlanta. It opens every day at noon, and you can be sure enjoy yourself within its confines. I love the styling of the place– as I can’t even describe what category it falls under, and I don’t want to mislabel it. But it is truly unique. There are even a bunch of hidden seating areas under steps and what not if you would like more privacy. At the bar area, they have beautiful bartenders(and ladies, I guess you can say there are a few handsome male bartenders as well) shaking up anything you wish. There are two tvs too behind glass, which give it a cool feel. The seating is spacious and there are many types as well, and when you go outside, it is another story! They have a wall lined with greens(sorry, not a botanist), and bordered by a running stream, W style. It provides great views of midtown and a place to get some fresh air. You never know who you may run into out here! There is a gentleman that always opens the door for you as well. The staff and selection are top notch, and although some items can be pricey(remember, this is in a hotel), the service you get makes it at least more worthwhile– as I have been to places and spent $ 15+ on a drink that they might as well have pissed in it… I am actually surprised that no one has made a review of this place yet! The crowd here is diverse and hosts a lot of cool events(I highly recommend you check out if you are a modern art fan) — it can get real busy at times, but well worth it! For me, this has been one of my favorite Gerber Bars– I will be sure to take some pics the next time I go! And yes, I will be back, as I know it will be a pleasurable experience!
