Lake Claire Park

Tennis court renewal last year was welcome. I don’t do much else with this park — located two blocks from my house — other than walk through it, but I do that frequently. The field tends to get saturated after rain, but work on that is scheduled soon, I understand.
It’s a good neighborhood park.

#700! Not so much a review of the park, but also a review of the entire Lake Claire neighborhood that originated at the intersection of Lake and Claire Avenues. I wasn’t sure what I was getting myself into when I decided to move to this little hippy dippy residential enclave in the middle of Atlanta… I had lived a couple miles west and wanted to stay close to that neighborhood when I was looking for a home.
I love its proximity to the wonderful culinary delights in Decatur, and commercial offerings in Candler Park, Little Five Points, Edgewood, and Inman Park. Lake Claire Land Trust drum circle and the farm animals who live down the street (I.e.chickens) are a couple things that make Lake Claire unique to Atlanta. I didn’t know anything about them until I moved to the neighborhood. The only thing is that it is very residential so that walking to restaurants or Marta are just beyond an easy stroll, so I tend to drive everywhere.
As for the park itself, it’s very small, with a playground for kids, a tennis court, and a picnic table & barbecue area a little further away, there’s a short path that connects the park with McLendon Ave. The park has events once in awhile, like a outdoor movie in the summer or a parade at Halloween.
