I had brunch on Sunday with some of my friends when k was in town. The French toast is amaze balls. I freaking love this place. I can’t wait to go back when I’m in town. Our comp mimosas was the highlight of the day. I wanted to go back on Monday but they’re closed on Mondays.

Today was my first and last time here, this places sucked! They offer«complimentary mimosas» which we never got to see or taste. After numerous reminder about our drinks they kept telling us glasses were been cleaned up, then we asked again and she forgot. Then nada, we asked again then she tells us they ran out of mimosas after we waited over 30 – 45 mins. Next time we noticed that people that just got there were been served mimosas, wtf? Then she said I was told we were out let me check again, at that point we did not care as we were leaving. Wait time awful, service not all that great and the food wasn’t all that to like make up for it. Then we asked for a manager, we were told there wasn’t one… We asked who the owner was, she said she didn’t know his name since she was knew… Speechless! Save your time and $ and don’t go there.

I had a horrible experience here. 4 of us sat down and ordered coffees. They each came out separately and took a total of 45 minutes for all of us to finally have a drink in front of us. By this time the food was going on 40 minutes and the waitress acted like she was stoned out of her mind. When she finally came with our final coffee she was bleeding from the nose and we were both too angry and creeped out to stay. We left promptly and told them why we were leaving. They didn’t seem to care one bit. Coffee was watered down and horrible. Can’t speak to the food besides the long cook times.

I really enjoyed myself. Went there for brunch and the food was absolutely delicious! The only drawback was the service. Nonetheless, this will not prevent me from returning to this little nugget in the future!

Our food never came out. We actually waited a whopping 35 minutes before leaving and going to a restaurant across town. The restaurant we ended up going to was twice as busy and it took our breakfast orders less than ten minutes to come out. La Mongerie reminds me a place where someone opened a restaurant with absolutely no restaurant experience. Horrible.

We found La Mongerie on Scout Mob last year and we’ve ate every few months since then. At best the service is poor, but the food is great. It’s worth the struggle. If you don’t hit this place on a completely empty stomach you’ll be fine. It’s a long wait and the staff seem easily confused, but the food is worth it. Chicken and Waffles plate is one of the best and their sandwiches are fantastic as well.

I’ve been wanting to come for a while after seeing how good the food looks and reading the reviews. With my friend visiting, yesterday was that chance. For me, my experiences are always summed up by three factors, the appeal/cleanliness, the service, and the food. So, I’ll begin my review with the negative points. 1. Leaving the door open allowed for gnats to roam about as patrons dined(although I understand that the cool weather was pleasant). 2. They do take credit/debit but they prefer cash. They use the square card reader(which isn’t an issue). The issue is the fact that when they ring you up you are to pay one price after taxes but if using your card, the square card reader charges a higher tax so you end up paying more than you should. Despite that the food and service were really good. The place is also decorated so nicely. Fatima(I believe that’s her name) was very pleasant and efficient. She smiled and engaged us as we waited patiently for our food(which did not take too much time to come out). I ordered a small coffee with French vanilla crème which was so delicious. My meal consisted of the Belgian waffle topped with fresh strawberries and pecans with turkey sausage. Everything was cooked to perfection.

SIgh. This place could have easily received 4 stars. The food was decent. I liked my shrimp and grits, but you put canned peaches on my girlfriend’s french toast in the height of peach season and your hostess chatted listlessly with a co-worker while we waited about 30 minutes for our food and another 20 minutes for our check. What kind of a restaurant are you running here? Our waitress was polite, but we could care less about politeness when your hostess blithely ignores our obvious dissatisfaction with how long it takes you to process a payment with 4 tables seated in the entire restaurant. Your food isn’t good enough for me to overlook the service, and I don’t want to come back to an establishment that does not train its staff to respect its customers. For those of you who will patronize this restaurant, both the shrimp and grits and fresh toast were quite good. The shrimp and grits was a little oily, but I don’t think anyone ordering this option can be too terribly health conscious. They also do free mimosas and sangria on the weekend with up to two refills. The sangria and mimosa were both not bad especially for a freebie. Shrimp & Grits — Oily, but full of flavor, slightly spicy Peach French Toast — Canned Peaches, Buttery Browned Toast

I revisited La Mongerie this past weekend for a(super) late«brunch» with a pal. We’re talking like 5:30pm. I was a bit worried that we’d be pusing it since closing time is at 7pm and service tends to be a bit slow, but to my surprise summer hours kicked in June 1 so they are open until 9pm(kitchen closes at 8pm, though – take note). We decided to sit on their small patio outside since it was later in the day and the ATL weather had graced us with a cool enough breeze to counter the humidity. Our server-cute Asian girl-met us almost immediately and handled all of our questions about the teas and the menu very well. She knew her stuff and it was obvious that she’d tried almost everything on the menu as she was able to give us specific details about all the items we asked about. Not only that, but she asked us a few questions about our personal preferences when it came to food(sweet, savory, sour, etc) and was able to suggest specific menu items that would cater to our tastes. Wait… You love the food at the place that employs you AND you can personalize the menu to fit my tastes??? Yep. She was a rockstar. My friend decided on the lemon marscapone pancakes after hearing me rave about them for the past two weeks(this date was a long time in the making) and I went with the fig and brie panini(it’s been on my hit list since my first visit). We also ordered an Early Grey tea and the Bohemian coffee(it’s the best!). My friend received her own teapot AND her mug was tempered – she was very impressed. The food… oh, the food. My friend ate every last bite of her plate and couldnt’ stop raving about how the last bite was every bit as good as the first. My panini was a creamy slice of heaven served with a side of chips. We both enjoyed our meals very much. About halfway through I remembered their complimentary(and bottomless!) mimosas on the weekends so I ordered one. We ended up closing the place down. The weather was so perfect, the conversation was awesome, and they brought us out two cupcakes on the house(score!). The cupcakes were fabulous, too. The carrot cake was perfectly spiced and the chocolate frosting on the chocolate cupcake was not overly sweet and you could taste the real cocoa in it. They were perfect. I ordered a slice of their Amaretto cake to go to take home to my roommates. No one’s tried it just yet, though. Great food and excellent service? La Mongerie is back in my good graces. 5 stars for you!

This is the cutest little place and it really does have a lot of potential. The positives: The décor is super-cute, I felt like I’d been invited to a tea party! It would be a great place to meet the girls for brunch! The coffee was good and my Daughter’s waffle was pretty good as well. The not-so-positives: Service was slow and the wait staff did not seem to know what to do with themselves. Even though there seemed to be managers/servers all over the place sheepishly asking how things were, my actual server kept forgetting my 2 requests(for butter and splenda), I also never received a refill on my coffee(even though she told me she would be «right back» to refill it). Also, I’m not sure if they even made my French Toast with any egg — it had no taste! It was simply a big piece of bread they decided to pan-fry in a little oil. I was confused. I ended up eating half of my Daughter’s waffle(which was pretty tasty). The place is really nice but unfortunately, they store food supplies in the small hallway next to the public restrooms(I was slightly turned off my this). Overall, it’s a cute place and I hope they get the kinks worked out. They REALLY need some basic service training. Based on my experience, I have no desire to return.

I’m only giving this restaurant 2 stars on the taste and quality of the food. I had the Shrimp & Grits. The shrimp and sauce was good. It is spicy, so if you’re aren’t into spicy food, then I would advise against it. But, I enjoyed it. They are lacking in prompt, attentive service. We did have a large group. The place wasn’t that busy. The food came out in pieces after waiting over an hour. We had people finished with their meals while others were still waiting for our food. The waitress didn’t clear the table of finished dishes. Our tables were crowded with excess plates. With the delay in the food orders, there were no apologies from the hostess or our waitress. No one will probably return. We have friends who live in the neighborhood who were excited to share the new restaurant with our group of friends as a regular brunch location, but after the experience, none of us will ever return. The impression I got was someone opened this restaurant with no idea of how to run a restaurant. You can’t anchor your success on the quality of the food. Customer service is a huge part of a restaurant’s success. Bad customer service will kill a restaurant. If a restaurant is still in business in 6 — 8 months, I may try it again to see if there has been any improvement. Breakfast is a pretty quick meal, you shouldn’t have to wait over an hour to eat. We arrived at 11AM and left the restaurant around 115PM or 130PM. It’s just kind of ridiculous. To give you an idea of what we had, there were 2 chicken and waffles, 4 breakfast sandwiches, shrimp and grits and fruit, greek yogurt and granola. From a breakfast perspective, these aren’t complex meals that should take longer than 10 — 15 min.

The boyf and I tried Sunday brunch at La Mongerie this morning. The interior décor is bright and charming. Our meals were delicious and relatively inexpensive with respect to other ATL brunch spots($ 20 for two people, including coffees, and complementary mimosas). The bowl of fruit that came with my breakfast sandwich was the most fresh and delicious collection of fruit that I’ve ever consumed. Nevertheless, we do not intend to return. La Mongerie just doesn’t deliver on its image. If a brunch place has twelve different kinds of coffee, it should offer a choice between Aunt Jemima’s syrup and real maple syrup. The mimosas shouldn’t taste like Orangina. The men’s bathroom shouldn’t have tacky art and the women’s bathroom shouldn’t have art with nudity. The dining tables shouldn’t be wobbly. The menu shouldn’t have an ominous«no substitutions» disclaimer or a request to «be patient» during busy times. We were lucky that the boyf’s substitution request was granted(he wanted a Belgian waffle without the toasted pecans and berries) and that it was not crowded when we arrived.

So much potential! Could get 5 stars if they were a little more efficient and a lot friendlier! When we(my wife and I) arrived, no one greeted us even though a few servers brushed right past us. We walked to the counter before anyone greeted us. After getting a table, our server(a dude) barely spoke a word, no smile, didnt ask if this was our first visit, didn’t bother to discuss the menu or anything. Only asked what we’d like to drink. The wait for our food was 25 minutes after ordering and we were first in line. Only one other group in there and they had their food when we ordered. Don’t know how long they waited. And the server never said a word to us while we were waiting. Twenty five minutes for pancakes is an eternity! I’ve gotten paella in less time at Barcelona. I literally had to get up and go to the kitchen to ask what was taking so long. The server saw me and then went to check, came out and said it’s on the way out. BTW, it’s a relatively small place. Once we were served, the presentation was awesome and the food tasted as good as it looked! I mean it was really good food. But the wait and service makes us hesitant to go back. The memory of those experiences puts this place in the back of my mind. Also, you get 3 free memosas. However, they use really cheap champagne or sparkling wine(Asti Spumante I believe), and while the water is served from a glass pitcher with blueberries and strawberries, the memosas are served from a plastic kool-aid pitcher! Hopefully a manager or owner will respond to this post and convince me to come back. I’m not asking for anything, just want to know that the service and wait issues have been addressed. I’ll pass on the memosas unless they upgrade to Korbel or something else.

I stumbled upon this place when I crashed my sister’s brunch with her girlfriends. Let’s just say, I was in awe. I love the décor. The white, chairs, tables and a long walled couch/bench are accented with a Parisian flair with black and Tiffany blue. The space is quaint but comfortable. We were a party of 5 and sat very comfortably in the corner near the window. We stuck to the brunch/breakfast items as when in a new place sometimes it’s best to play it safe. Boy, were we happy with our selections! I had the french toast and it was divine! I sampled the chicken and waffles as well as a croissant breakfast sandwich one of the other girls had, and yes they were both also good. I prefer the maple syrup over the house syrup, I’m not sure what brand of maple syrup they use, but it definitely adds to the dishes. I’ve been here too many times to count, it’s my go to place for meetings and me time. Quiet and chic… and the free mimosas add to the charm as well. Dishes to try: Shrimp and grits, chicken and waffles, french toast, smoked salmon sandwich. The teas are great, my fave in the peppermint tea. You will get a full pot that is good for about 3 cups of some of the best tea I’ve had. Great payoff for the price. My only concerns are that they tend to run out of items that are on the menu, and that can be very disappointing especially when you can already taste them! Hence why i have still yet to try the rosemary chicken. Also, they door is left open frequently and on a very sunny day with warm weather, you may have to swat at a few gnats that are annoyingly flying around. Additionally, sometimes the servers can tend to get easily distracted, even when there are few patrons there. But they are a friendly bunch! Overall, they have my stamp of approval. I will continue to go back over and over again!

I was looking for a new spot to get some work done and I realized La Mongerie had been in my bookmarks for more than a minute, so I decided it was time to check it out. The space is super cute: very French-hip, if that makes any sense. Lots of black and white and an array of seating options. Parking is not so awesome: I had to circle a few times before I figured out the closest space. If you’re eating in, you can just grab a seat and they’ve got servers to wait on you. After seeing another woman receive her order, I couldn’t deny the chicken and waffles. The chicken was delicious: flavorful, moist, with a tasty batter. The waffles were good but nothing spectacular. I wasn’t a fan of the syrup: it had a weird aftertaste that didn’t sit right with me, as if it was infused with something. I did love the addition of the fresh berries on top: it made me feel like I wasn’t eating something that was completely nutritionally devoid. Antioxidants, yay! My server was quick and friendly and the wifi was fast. I’d be happy to stop in again during the week for a spot of work, no doubt. As long as I can find easy parking.

The first time my boyfriend and I ate at La Mongerie, we were pretty excited because it is within walking distance from our apartment and looked like a great brunch place. I ordered the fig and brie panini which was tasty and my boyfriend ordered the soy sausage, egg, and cheese sandwich. We were offered free mimosas with our brunch as well — awesome! However, we visited the restaurant several times more expecting the same level of food and service, but were dissapointed. You usually only get the free mimosas if you know about it and ask for it. Also, we learned that the soy sausages were not made in house but are the frozen Morningstar Farms soy sausages that we could buy across the street at Publix for much less money. The quality of food wasn’t as great and the place didn’t seem to be cleaned very well. Sadly, we will not be returning here because it is just not worth the money.

Apparently Baby Jesus decided that Christmas should come early this year for the residents of the Old Fourth Ward. Thanks to the recent opening of La Mongerie Bakery, we now have the luxury of engorging ourselves with both Mary Mac’s fried chicken and liquor filled cupcakes without even leaving the confines of the neighborhood. Food: La Mongerie is a restaurant and bakery with a menu that includes baked goods(cupcakes, muffins, croissants, cinnamon rolls, scones), sandwiches, soups, and full entrees. During my first visit, I opted for three different cupcakes(chocolate, strawberry, and Patron) and one muffin(banana nut). The baked goods certainly weren’t the best that I’ve had in Atlanta, but they were all flavorful, sizable, and visually appealing. I was particularly impressed with the Patron cupcake, which was both unique and fairly well executed; the liquor flavor nicely complemented the sweetness of the frosting and wasn’t overly potent. Although they were sold out, I was told that they also offer a Grand Marnier version as well. Service: The service during my visit wasn’t incredibly efficient, but this wasn’t surprising considering that the place had just opened its doors only a few days prior. Aside from having a few difficulties with the cash register, the gentleman who assisted us was incredibly friendly and eager to please. All food is ordered at the front counter, but ample seating is also available for those wishing to dine in. Atmosphere: Apparently this location is a satellite version of their main restaurant, which is slated to open in December on Monroe near Piedmont Park. Nonetheless, it’s still impeccably decorated, complete with modern décor and a chandelier hanging from the ceiling. They also have free WiFi, so I could certainly see this as a viable location for a working lunch or casual group meeting. Cost: Inexpensive. All baked goods are less than $ 3.00 and all entrees are less than $ 10.00. Other: First time visitors may have some difficulty finding this place; its address is on Ponce de Leon, but it’s actually on Penn Ave in the retail space below the Camden apartments(in between Nancy’s Pizza and MF Sushi). Hours of operation are 7AM-7PM(Sunday — Thursday) and 7AM — 11PM(Friday and Saturday). Parking is not readily available, but your best option is along Penn Ave or the spots around the corner on Ponce.
