Awesome food and really friendly service! You can’t really go wrong with any of the menu items. Only downside is that service can be slow and their hours are not very consistent.

Amazing food!!! Definitely my go to spot and would recommend to anyone. They have amazing burritos, burgers, wings and fries. Pretty strange combination of food to serve but it doesn’t even matter because they are all so so good! Great quality food and great people working there. Keep it up JA’s!

At first glance, this restaurant is a ghost town, and something just doesn’t feel right. But the food, for the most part, more than makes up for this. I had their burger the first time I came. You can only do so much with a burger, but they managed to make the beef juicy, the lettuce crunchy, and every other ingredient complement one another nicely. Call this a bold statement but this may be one of the best backyard style burgers I’ve had. They also came with fries that were maybe a little bit too crispy but great nonetheless. The next time I came, I had the jerk chicken. On the bright side, it came with a lot of meat, which was nicely cooked. However, what really put me off was the sauce and how watery it was. This makes the jerk chicken platter average at best. Food-wise, they have a lot of other options too like tacos and gyros. The lady working there was also super pleasant so that’s a plus. Joseph Andrew’s Grill & Food Service is divey and nothing glamorous, but if you’re into solid food, decent prices, a lot of choices, and a restaurant all to yourself, this place is for you.

I stopped in for lunch on a Friday morning and the place was deserted. There’s a huge menu above the counter where you order your food. I spent a few minutes staring at the board trying to figure out what I wanted to eat when the person taking our orders pointed out that they don’t have most of the stuff on the big menu anymore. She instead pointed me to a small paper menu standing on the counter with about 5 things. I ordered the burger, fries and drink combo. The burger looked like something my mom would make at home. Big, juicy patty with pretty good seasoning. The fries had some sort of cajun seasoning on them that makes them addictive for me. I’m always a sucker for any sort of seasoning salt. The burger and fries came with this BBQ sauce. I’m not sure if it was for the burger or to dip your fries in. I’m not the biggest BBQ sauce fan so I stuck to my usual mayo for my fries. Hopefully this place is able to make it. It was empty the whole time I was there. Maybe they are busier at dinner time?

I went in for lunch. Nobody was there. Where was everybody? It looked like a place that would go out of business soon. They do have a large space though. So it felt weird being the only person there. At the corner, they have a cafeteria-type station. I’m not sure if you can order food from there. But I think they just have their prepared food there for the sides and such. You actually order off the menu. Their menu consists of burgers, burritos, and stuff. They also have a Jerk Chicken Platter. So I ordered that. The Jerk Chicken platter comes with your choice of collard greens or pasta salad. It also comes with your choice of black or pinto beans. I got the greens and pinto beans. The Pinto Beans comes on top of dirty rice. I liked the Jerk Chicken. The jerk sauce was nice and spicy with a bit of sweet. The chicken was good. It was juicy and fell off the bone nice. The sauce marinated all throughout the chicken. Their collard greens had good flavor. I don’t know what they cooked it in. It can’t be pork since they are Halal. It must be chicken or something. But it was nice and savory. Their rice and beans were fine. I liked my lunch. The only problem was the lighting. I think they were trying to save on energy costs because they turned all the lights off. I could barely see my food. They serve Halal food. and the staff seem friendly. If you have a student id, you get a discount too. It seems like a good place for lunch.

It’s alright. I’m not going to make a full judgment of the place based on the weird allspice-flavored burger I had. The chips and salsa were good.

They don’t make the pizza quesadillas anymore but I asked for a veggie quesadilla(even though it’s not on the menu) and they made it for me! It was amazing. Good service too.

Their beef burger is very delicious. It was very fresh and made to order. The place is super clean and quiet. The only thing I didn’t like about this place is that they were a bit slow in preparing the food although it wasn’t very busy when I went there.

Tried this place with a few coworkers recently because of all the high praise on Unilocal. We had a pretty strange experience. First of all, I went in hoping to order a burger — this was at noon on a Monday — and was told they were out of beef. The owner was supposedly — possibly — going to bring some when he came, which I think was supposed to be around 3pm. «If you want to come back.» Seriously? Yeah, I’ll wait until 3 to eat lunch? They were out of several other things, too, and no longer served several of the things that I had read about and that were still listed on their big menu board above the counter.(Don’t come in here looking for the pizza quesadilla — no longer offered.) So I settled for a «jerk» chicken burrito which still sounded pretty good. One of my coworkers ordered the«jerk» chicken salad, and I don’t remember what the other one got. I’ll explain my use of quotes for«jerk» chicken in a minute. The place was mostly empty, but it took forever to get our food.(I would say about half an hour, maybe more.) There were only two people working behind the counter, doing pretty much everything, not particularly in a hurry and not particularly friendly. I was pretty hungry once the food finally came up so I kind of just started to chow down indiscriminately. It was a pretty good burrito, to be honest, and if it had been called a «BBQ» chicken burrito, I probably wouldn’t have given it another thought. I may even have gone back there in spite of the slow, apathetic service because it really was pretty tasty. But the fact that this did not resemble any kind of jerk chicken I have ever had, authentic or not so much, was kinda just the last straw. My coworker who got the salad agreed. For one thing, it was heavily covered in sauce, and jerk is typically more of dry-rubbed thing in my experience. The flavor was just totally off, too. Way more like sweet BBQ sauce than an herby, jerk flavor. I’ll admit I’m not one who really cares about food being halal so maybe I’m not really the target demographic for this place. It is next to a mosque, after all. I am a big supporter of using grass-fed beef, though, and that was one of the big draws in my coming here. But if you’re not ready to serve lunch at lunchtime — which was easily the most off-putting part of my initial impression of this place — you’re not gonna be a go-to lunch spot for me.

I stopped by for a quick take-out lunch. I ordered the jerk chicken burrito bowl. It was so bad that I couldn’t finish it. The rice, which was 60% of the bowl, was mushy and unappetizing. The chicken tasted OK but it was coated in an overly sweet sauce. I thought it was supposed to be jerk chicken. I was expecting something comparable to Moe’s, Willy’s, or Chipotle and was very disappointed. Pros: expensive, clean, and friendly staff Cons: the food

Hidden gem of Westside. I came for the first time during lunch and got a burger with fries for only $ 7. The burger is one of the best I’ve ever had. The service is excellent. Highly recommend.

Curry chicken burrito was warm, yummy, and loaded! Interior is nice, and though I got my order to go, it looks like a great place to have a meal. Student discount if you get a meal and drink and show your ID. I’ll be back soon!

Great place to grab lunch during the busy midtown area. Very clean restaurant. very polite employees. Behind the counter food prep area exceptionally clean. Seating area swept and surrounding area at coke machine sticky free. Food was great. Guacamole made fresh to order. prices very reasonable wear for the midtown area at lunchtime.

Yes, I am a fan. I enjoyed the previous restaurant, Basha Bistro, so I stopped in for a burger and fries on a week night. Very flavorful, cooked great. I have no complaints.

Time after time, I have driven past this place smelling the amazing slow cooking BBQ right in front of the building. I’m so glad I skipped Subway to go here to eat today. I only ordered two jerk chicken tacos, but they are amazing, decently priced, and filling. Trust your nose, turn into the parking lot and order something. You won’t be sorry.

Halal organic grass fed burgers! It’s juicy and the fries are well seasoned. This place is carribean food so we wanted to try the jerk chicken too so we also got a burrito rice bowl with jerk chicken. The jerk chicken in the burrito rice bowl is cut up into small pieces and is so flavorful! You can add whatever u want in the bowl like at chipotle. Chicken is halal and hormone free as well. They also have jerk chicken sandwiches which which looked awsome, chicken isThey make a lot of things fresh so it can take a bit of time. The guys who work here are nice and chill lol.

Decided to stop past this place to grab something to nibble on while waiting to get some new fresh«Ink«. I decided to grab some of the crinkle fries cause I had the afternoon munchies, but not ready for dinner. I like the simple menu, and the variety. I like my fries hard, and these were on point!!! Gotta love when simple things work out!!!

If you are House of Hookah next door you have to stop by and get some food here. They may looked closed but typically open after their closing hours. The food is real good here. Especially the jerk chicken quesadilla. Excellent staff here too.

Drove by here on my way to McDonald’s and decided to turn around and try it. You can enter directly into their parking lot off of 14th street or enter off of Tumlin St. They have about 5 spots in front and more parking in back. The place has a lot of seating inside with a TV if you don’t want to take your food to go like I did. Note that students with their ID get a 15% discount on an entrée and drink. The menu is basically burgers and burritos. Burgers are made to order and cost about $ 7. Fries are another about $ 2, same with a drink. So it’s not super cheap for«fast food» but it’s also definitely better quality than Mickey D’s. They have condiment packets, plastic flatware, cups, and napkins out. You also get your own soda from the fountain. The burger was fantastic. You can see the ingredients they put into the patty, it’s like you’d make for yourself at home. The fries were good, I think they had the cajun seasoning on it which is yummy but they put maybe a little too much on them. They also provide a dipping sauce which seems to be BBQ.
