An Atlanta classic. Cozy and casual. Yes the pizza is the main attraction but good Lord that Johnny’s Special Sub is the best sub I’ve ever had. Cheap and cold beer. The calzones are huge and they don’t skimp on toppings. I always try to stop in when I’m on that side of town.

Good pizza for an affordable price! I appreciate how quick they are, no frills. I’m from Chicago, so it’s not deep dish, but it’s a different style. If you’re looking for neopolitan, this isn’t your place — check out Antico or Ammazza. If you’re looking for NY pizza, this is it.

Make sure to ask the staff on the phone if they will deliver to your area because they aren’t competent enough to check on their own. I ordered my pizza for delivery, gave my address, my credit card was charged and I waited 1.5 hours before the delivery boy called, lost. I gave him directions and waited 10 more minutes before the restaurant called to tell me they cannot deliver to my house, even though the driver was in his car already, and that my money could not be refunded for 3 days. I spoke with the manager, who was less than helpful yet very apologetic, he could not offer any answer to my question of «why would you charge my credit card without confirming that you can deliver to my house?» Stay away from this place, I was left hungry and dissatisfied, looking for other options for dinner after 1.5 hours of waiting.

Neighborhood dive pizza shop with some seating and beer-only. I had a calzone which was decent. I also had the garlic knots, which were literally drowned in melted butter. I could feel my arteries hardening… I shouldn’t have ordered them with the cheese, and had I known I would have asked for no butter(or on the side).

As much I view Atlanta as a great town for food, good pizza(NYC style pizza) is hard to find. This is about the best you will find in the city. The 4 stars should be more like 4.45. It’s good. Real good. The crust makes it hard to beat. Thin but hearty. That perfect mix of crusty, crunchy, and soft where it needs to be soft. Great cheese, flavorful sauce and quality meats. Hard to believe this is a chain, a local one, but chains rarely are this good. Real New Yorkers love it. I’m not one but I’ve been there enough to know my pizza. Get a slice. You’ll love it.

The food is and always has been great, but I long for the old wait staff. After you get your food, you don’t get anymore service. The newest girl is so busy socializing that you pretty much get ignored after that initial contact.

Delicious! I ate there instead of take out — which I definitely suggest. The pizza I had was better than most NY pizza I’ve had from NY. Super crunchy crust but chewy in the middle– not too thin and certainly not too thick. Cheese was super stretchy and toppings were all fresh and great. It’s not a fancy place but the pizza is awesome and speaks for itself. I plan on trying takeout this week(I have about a 25 min. drive) and will give my takeout review as soon as that happens. Also, I hear that the other Johnny’s franchises are not the same(as in, they aren’t as good… I’ve been told this by at least 10 – 20 people).

Oh Johnny’s how I wish you were closer to home! The pizza and subs are so yummy! Our favorite is the hot veggie sub. They also have the best pre-set pizza topping combos for veggies. Word of caution — do not think you can go to another Johnny’s NY Pizza and get the same quality or deliciousness. We made the mistake of getting our favorite picks from the Johnny’s in Conyers — it was oh so disappointing. So fight the traffic and go to the Cheshire Bridge location — it’s worth the drive!

Subpar pizza. I prefer the local joint over a pizza chain but I can’t justify paying more for below average tasting pizza. Might as well call papa Johns. It’s in the same neighborhood and a little cheaper. Sauce wasn’t very tasty and crust was a wee bit thick for NY style, in my opinion. Also crust was nothing special in the flavor department. I didn’t hate the pizza, but it certainly wasn’t worth the calories, or the price even. Won’t get it again.

I vaguely remember visiting Johnny’s Pizza in the 80s after many nights twirling around on the disco dance floors in the clubs that defined this neighborhood. All I remember basically is that the pizza was fabulous. Fast forward 20+ years and nothing has changed. Got a large pepperoni… nothing fancy and we were not disappointed. As a matter of fact I would eat there every evening if resembling the side of a barn was the look I was going for. Can’t wait to return for my next treat!

I hadn’t been around that side of town in awhile. Stopped by after a long afternoon at the Clairmont Rd VA hospital. Ordered an Eggplant Parmigiana and Caesar salad. Enjoyed both! Since I wasn’t quite«full», had a slice of pizza for dessert — very good! Just one I never heard before — when I mentioned to the cook on duty that there’s a law that prohibits food handlers working without sanitary plastic gloves(which he didn’t have on, though the guy who made my salad wore a pair), he told me that supposedly, «if the oven is at 500 degrees they don’t have to be worn».(?) Never heard that before. Please, is there someone out there with connections to the health department that can validate his claim, so I can give them four stars?(Or, two stars, for dishonesty :()

I thought the pizza was very good. Also like the friendly service. Very reasonable price on beer as well.

Small, not fancy, kinda crampy, small bar, limited beer selection only 2 TVs but you come for the food. The pies are outstanding. Thin, crispy and with ample toppings that are fresh, friendly enough service from a small joint.

Pizza is okay and they deliver. I’ll take it over Domino’s/Pizza Hut/Papa John’s any day. We usually just get a large pepperoni which feeds 4 easily. It is super greasy, which I have no problem with but I know some do.

Great prices on lunch specials. Good food… Timely service, cant ask for much more out of a pizza joint at lunch.

Having lived in NYC for sometime my standards are pretty high when it comes to pizza. For Atlanta, this ain’t bad at all. Johnny’s keeps it simple, nothing fancy décor wise. But what great NYC pizza place is? Paper napkins and large plastic cups yet they have real cutlery. The staff were really friendly, pizza came out fast(for Atlanta) and it tasted good. Nice thin crust like I remember it. Price wise, they are cheap as chips. $ 1PBR, and lunch specials are hard to beat. For quick and simple lunch it was perfect. Seeing as they serve cheap beer and pizza, I reckon I’ll be here after work too.

Yesterday I had quite arguably the worst lunch experience thus documented this year. The other half and I decided that for lunch yesterday, we were going to go to Johnny’s Pizza on Cheshire Bridge. The other half had raved about other Johnny’s Pizzas and we had been to this one once without incident. Yesterday however, left me bitter, angry, and still hungry when I left. Yes, it was that bad. We entered the restaurant around 2PM yesterday(Tuesday). There were probably 4 other tables with customers and the rest of the tables(except one) were covered in trash and debris from previous customers, which had not been cleaned up. Thankfully there was one table left that didn’t have trash on it so we didn’t have to wait for a table. We sat ourselves and within an appropriate amount of time(2 – 3 minutes), a waitress came and took our order. We ordered pizza, a pitcher of beer, and salad for lunch. The pitcher was pretty cheap($ 8.00), the waitress brought them in cold glasses, and she brought them pretty quick. No problem so far. Our pizza then arrives at the table. I ordered the gourmet pizza with feta, spinach, olives. It was a tasty pizza. The crust was a bit on the burnt side but it was still pretty good. I found it odd that they would bring me my pizza before my salad but I was hungry so I just went with it, knowing that my salad was on the way. Flash forward 20 minutes. We had not been checked on once our entire time eating. It wasn’t so busy that it would have taken a lot of effort to check on us. So at this point, I’m done with my pizza and the salad still hasn’t arrived. I got out of my booth, walked up to the waitress and asked her politely to take it off of the tab, as it never came. She nonchalantly said she would remove it from the tab but didn’t really apologize for the mishap. I then sit back down in the booth. She then has the nerve to ask«How was everything!?» as we were getting out of our booth. I wasn’t going to lie to the waitress and tell her we had a fabulous experience so I told her the truth. The pizza was good but it would have been nice had we gotten the food that we actually ordered. The waitress became extremely defensive and said«well this is a laid back place, you should have waived me down or talked to someone else». A: That is not my job. I order the food once. It’s your job to bring it to me. I shouldn’t have to beg for my food. If you had checked on us once while we were eating, this problem would have been solved. B: You should always take responsibility for the problem. Don’t blame it on someone or something else. After speaking with her for a few moments, I realized that arguing with her was like arguing with a dining room table. It just wasn’t a task that I was interested in engaging in. We then walked up to the front, paid our tab to the manager. He was friendly and seemed really embarrassed by the whole situation. We left a horrific tip — which is a rarity for me, walked to the car and left. We wont be going back. The only reason I’m giving this place 2 stars is because the beer was cold and the pizza was pretty good. I’m not sure what the exact issue was at the table beside us, but they were also having a trying time with the wait staff. I did see that one of the guys had to get up to beg someone to give him a refill. I wonder if the owner knows how deplorable this place has become? I would be livid if I owned this restaurant and this kind of service was going on. This one goes on the blacklist despite the good pizza. It’s just not worth it. There are other places that have pizza just as good and with much better service.

I was there for Trivia night on thursday with a couple of friends. For a place that size, it was fantastic. Extensive enough menu covering pizza’s and calzone’s. I ended up getting a calzone — italian sausage and pepperoni. The cheese was just melted right and the whole thing was juicy awesomeness. Great value for money portion-wise. Trivia questions were a mixture of extremely easy and fun stuff, with libations being some extremely modestly priced beer, even if there isn’t a great variety of choice in that regard. The only downside I might say is that if you are heading here looking for a ‘nice’ place to chow down on some pizza you might want to redirect your ambience-finder elsewhere. All in all, good food, great fun on trivia thursday and doesn’t bleed a hole through your pocket.
