Stopped by to grab some coffee on my way home and it was interesting to say the least. I ordered The Irishmen’s Coffee and it was actually stronger than I expected(slightly stronger than I prefer but too much alcohol is ALWAYS better than too little!). I tried making conversation with the bartender but he wasn’t interested so I gave up. Definitely more of a bar than a café but I decided to get a latte to go, to see how their Java fares. Big mistake! I don’t know if he used old coffee or burnt coffee or what but it was nasty — I kept trying to make myself swallow it down(I hate wasting money) but I couldn’t do it. 3 stars for the coffee cocktail –1 star for the latte Not my bag but your mileage may vary. Great coffee that’ll wake you up for sure. Sides are also decent and there’s space for you to sit down and relax. You won’t be disappointed.

We ended up here after roaming around Atlanta a bit. There’s a huge loose tea selection that the barista/bartender puts in the tea bag with a tiny scoop by hand. I said it was like an art. He and my boyfriend were more practical in their agreement that it could be difficult in busy times. I really liked the non traditional feel of this place. The sort of punk meets coffee and tea and alcohol. The wall of flyers is pretty cool to investigate. If there were books for sale, it would be heavenly. The guys hanging out by the bar were having interesting conversations and were sweet about including us off and on. The refill I was offered as I walked out the door was too good to pass up. Though I almost did.

This is an awesome little place full of original funky artwork and original funky people. They are attached to the theatre where Dad’s Garage is temporarily performing and they complement each other perfectly. There is coffee, beer and mixed drinks all served by fast, friendly staff. *You can take your drinks into the theatre with you, too! Glad we wandered in here, great vibe and a great breve latte.

My friend and I came here on a Tuesday night, both of our first time. It was real chill and laid back, live music in the background, very nice vibe! The bartender, Sterling was awesome! He made us the perfect glass of «adult» chocolate milk :) 10⁄10 will return!

Artsy, trendy joint in Little Five Points. In a way, seems a little lost in translation of what they are more considered: night life or coffee. Have been twice for iced lattes. They have a pretty good coffee selection. As far as a coffee shop would go, flavor of drinks and atmosphere, I would give them between a 3 – 3.5. Nightlife could be better, so I night check out that scene when I get a chance. For some reason I don’t feel like I’m in the right atmosphere for just buying coffee. I can relate with a few of the recent reviews in that sense.

I came in here for a midafternoon cup of tea and a spot to read for a while and found myself in what looked at first like an awkward space but in fact turned out to be an exceptionally pleasant environment. Despite this being billed as a coffee place, there’s a decent selection of tea and the staff are knowledgable about it. The seating area is well set up, with bar seats for the more extroverted and tables and a few booths for the introverts or small-group socializers. I ended up staying longer than I’d originally intended because the atmosphere was so nice and I liked the music.

I live across the street so this is an easy option for me. It’s never crowded in the morning so I’m in and out. I’ve never been in at night, but based on the people standing outside it looks fun.

[TL;DR] JAV’OHLORD! Best thing about this spot is the location. Right next to Variety Playhouse. Makes an awesome way to dip in for coffee or a pre-game drink. Where else are you going to get Bell’s Two Hearted in a CAN?

Nothing special, just any other coffee shop. Service was okay, crowd was cool, parking was good. Cons: dim, dark moody vibe Pros: opens late for those night owls like myself

I’ve become a chai latte snob lately and have been turning my nose up at the coffee shop chais across Atlanta. Java Lord’s chai, however, is in my top 3! Not sickly sweet, not too spicy. I like going here to work and study, but they also have a full bar and a night scene. They’re connected to 7 Stages theatre so that can make it interesting in the evening. Downsides include lots of smoking on patio and in front(where there are a few chairs), and no dogs allowed on patio; I’ve sat with mine at the table out front before which is nice, but there’s only one table so it’s hit or miss finding a dog friendly spot. Also, the snack selection is meager and includes just a few pastries wrapped in cellophane.

I went around 10pm on a weekday because I was looking for a late night coffee shop where I could get some work done outside of my home office. It was good but not quite what I was expecting, which was more of a contemporary coffee shop with a cool crowd, mellow tunes in the background, and good coffee. This place is a hybrid of bar and coffee shop. It is non-committal in either direction. It appears to specialize more on the bar side as they have a full bar but their pretty decent-sized list of beers and ales were in the bottle, not on tap. At the same time, if you aren’t sitting at the bar they had a few booths(with outlets) like a coffee shop where someone like me could come and spread out their papers and electronics and get all plug & playalistic! I would define it as a coffee-shop with alcohol by day and a bar with coffee by night. As far the coffee, the coffee was pretty good and they even had a big list of flavor shots that could be added to your beverage for an additional cost. There were a few baked goods(pre-wrapped, possibly supplied by another local business). I had an oatmeal cookie that was okay. The noise level was medium with moderate-level conversation going on in the place. There is metal and hard rock playing in the background a little louder than«lounge» level but not so loud that you find yourself yelling and leaning in close to hear your neighbor. I came on a night where a few loud people were being a little obnoxious and apparently continuing the party from wherever it had started but the baristender(barista/bartender) did apologize after the loud crowd left. All in all, I had good coffee, found a bottled spiced amber ale that I’d try again, and got some work done, so I can’t complain. I’d go back again if I needed to get away late night to get some work done in a spot that gives you the option of Cuervo or coffee.

Came here recently to meet up for a meeting. It was about midday so it wasn’t super busy. Just a few laptop jockeys seated at the few tables inside. After sitting inside for about an hour or so, it seems that the main focus here is the bar over the coffee. The coffee selection is grand and they sell some really great whole-bean varieties. I think the thing that made me turn my head is that one of the two people behind the counter/bar was doing some pretty hefty day-drinking. Not a huge deal to me, honestly, but that can be a little misleading. The«coffee» aspect of this place seems a little lost in translation and the focal point is more booze from my perspective. Probably not headed back for a coffee date, but I’d definitely come back to enjoy a drink after hours.

I really love the space at Java Lords. It looks like a real coffeehouse should. People talking and young lovers falling in love. I didn’t see a single person on a laptop and I loved it. The baristas were slighty surly, but it adds to the charm.

Spent 3 years of my college life in this dive and I miss the heck outta this place! Great location and decent pricing. Yea the hipster crowd can be a bit too much every now and then, but an Irish coffee, a cheap Pabst and something sweet to munch on is enough to pacify me!

Stopped in here before a show at the recommendation of a friend who is local. They are conveniently located next to the Variety Playhouse and it definitely has a bit of a «divey» feel to it, but the coffee was strong and amazing and the employee behind the counter was super nice and friendly. Only complaint, they didn’t have the air conditioner on for some crazy reason so it was hot as hell in there. I’m not sure how people were sitting inside!

Their ginger molasses cookie is good. It was a ghost town when I went, which was a little worrisome. Customer service was OK.

This is a pretty mellow bar, they constantly rotate their beer, so I never know what I ordered the last time, or what I’m getting next to drink. The bartender s a cool dude that been here for ages, and he is also one of the actors for the seven stages plays next door. The crowd doesnt surprise me, its the same people you see outside of the place, walking around little five… except they have their laptops out here and get free wifi. It is a very mellow place if the craziness from little five gets to you, but its not quite an escape from it all. the hipsters are still inside! AAHHH!
