i had the urge to eat the food. of my country today so i stopped by this place aince inwas in the area. the place is decent. i was a bit disapointed with the quality of the cuban sandwich. they gave me it not even pressed as it looked like they are in a rush to get food out. i had to send it back and still it wasnt as toasted as it is supposed to be. overall its… ok. will i come back? probably not. recommendation for ownership: dont rush. the quality of food pays for it.

I had the cuban sandwich, which was fine. Can’t say it blew me away or anything.

Not fancy, but really fabulous. Sign out front says, «Serving Atlanta for 40 years.» That alone told Me something about this place. We walked in and ordered quickly, 2 Cuban Sandwiches on the sweet egg bread. It’s the #4 and called, medianoche. It was excellent. Probably the best Cuban I’ve had. Going with the sweet egg bread changed the experience of the sandwich for me. I’ve always had them on the Cuban bread. It was a big sandwich, I didn’t get any sides and really didn’t need them. My companion had the rice and beans and couldn’t finish. Don’t let the outside of this building fool you, go in and get a Cuban sandwich!

I have never been to Cuba before, but I imagine the food would taste something like this. I just enjoyed one of the classics, a Cuban sandwich, and I have to say it was pretty damn tasty. Looking at all of the«Best Of The Best» and Trip Advisor awards that adorn the wall, I am pretty sure my fellow ATLiens agree this is a solid restaurant; One of the gems along Buford Highway. I am taking one star away because of the lunch only hours(had to take a day off from work to check this place out), and high price($ 12.00 for a sandwich and drink, no sides). Overall, great little place and I will definitely be back to sample other items on the menu.

Came by for a couple of sandwiches. We tried the Cuban sandwich and midnight sandwich($ 7.25 each). They come with a generous portion of ham and pork. The bread is nice and soft. I think the Cuban sandwich is better than the midnight sandwich because the egg roll was a little too thin and lacked crisp and substance. Overall, a nice option for Cuban food. They are only open for lunch on weekdays. Ample parking in the front and back.

Okay Cuban food. What was ordered: ½ Cuban Plate, Steak Plate, and Maduros Overall, it is a quick lunch place. Fairly priced and friendly staff. My steak with onions and peppers plate was slightly oily and so was the maduros. I was glad that the red sauce was not on my rice. The Cuban sandwich seem to be okay for my friend.

Glad to see that this restaurant has returned to its former location after the fire five and half years ago. The food is just as good as I remembered it. Welcome back.

Pretty good food. But definitely not traditional Cuban. I don’t think anyone there is even Cuban. But that seems to be normal here in Atlanta. Everything we got was pretty tasty. I am sure I have been spoiled as I grew up eating real Cuban food made by real Cuban people. That being said, this is pretty good food. I will go back and try something different.

Hands down, my favorite place to get a Cuban in Atlanta. It’s all about the bread. Don’t get me wrong, the ham, pork, cheese and pickles are great but it’s all about the bread. Get the sandwich combo with rice and beans and thank me later.

Only open for lunch, but this place is definitely in the running for best authentic Cuban sandwich in Atlanta. Make sure you get plenty of Mojo sauce if you are taking your order to-go. Mojo sauce is mandatory. And you’re probably going to want to call in your order and take it to-go anyways as there really isn’t much seating on the inside and the atmosphere is, well, «divey» I guess is the word for it. But don’t let that scare you away, because the food is delicious. Really wish they still had empanadas.

So happy to have Havana Sandwich Shop back! Their cuban sandwiches are the best as are their black beans. I could eat here every day!

I ordered the chicken empanadas(with cheese and jalapeño) and my friend ordered the Arroz con pollo. My dish was served with rice and black beans. Her meal was served over rice and plantains. I loved the empanadas. They were incredibly flavorful, perfectly salted, and fried to a perfect crisp. I had wanted to try the Ropa Veija and the Cuban but I will have to go back. Four stars is because the arroz con pollo was dry, flavorless, and the plantains were very mediocre. But whenever I taste more dishes, I may reconsider and make this a five star review, and assume I just don’t have a taste for the that particular dish.

This is it! So glad to see their original store reopened.(Their other store further up Buford Highway at Clairmont is still open, too.) Best Cuban sandwich ever. Check their menu for other Cuban dishes.

I work right around the corner from this place and pass it all the time. It had been closed for years, apparently due to a fire, but it is now back open. I was actually on my way to the sandwich place next door when I saw that it was open a couple of days ago. I went ahead and gave it a try and I’m glad I did! It’s a great little place, with really friendly service and delicious food. I ordered the traditional Cuban, and it was great. The bread was nice and flaky, the meats were really juicy and tender. it was really great and I’m already thinking I may go back today…

The medianoche Sandwich was good as we’re the plantanos but the café con leche was subpar. It’s not hard to make! Maybe I’m spoiled because I go to Miami a couple times a year and get spoiled

Finally getting around to Unilocaling Havana Sandwich Shop after my first visit a few weeks ago. YUM! What a great little place. The food was above average, prices were very reasonable, and the atmosphere was casual, unpretentious, and happy. The people working behind the counter actually seemed to be enjoying their job(fancy that!) and they must be doing something very right judging from the number of people jamming in there at 2 in the afternoon. My picadillo was pretty good(though I have to say my own is better) and the yuca fries were tasty. Having mojo de ajo on the table was a big plus. My lunch date had a Cuban sandwich, which is pretty much a staple for him. He said it was good as well. I love places like this: not a chain, not trying too hard to be something its not, and serving good food at reasonable prices. Just my speed, and probably many others’ too. Give it a try if you’re in the area.

Photos of Havana in Lonely Planet travel guides and National Geographics are always dripping in color, capturing somewhere tinged with history and a bit faded. Stepping into Havana Sandwich Shop is a flight away from the actual Havana, but gives what I would imagine the same effect. Definitely a shop that has seen many a sandwich get devoured at the worn tables, it’s had all its history on Lower Buford Highway. Everything, from the green and banana yellow exterior, to the maps on the walls, seem to have been washed over with a sort of faded«Havana Glow,» and if you’re like me, you’ll get the urge to at least feign being a photojournalist and snap away at the cola bottles and brightly colored walls. And well, then there’s the sandwiches. For six bucks or so you can get your very own ‘souvenir’ from your near-Havana experience and chomp away on a classic Cuban, rice and beans. Wash it down with a guava juice, and you’ll almost forget where you are.

If Cuban food is this good, why are people fleeing the country? Everything here is amazing! From the pork filled Cuban sandwiches to the rice pilafs to the flan(yum…flan). I once came here and just ordered the yellow rice with some tomatoes and pepper red sauce on top and smiled every time my spoon dug into the mountain of goodness. Nothing fancy here. You can stay and watch football(soccer) on the TV, or take your sandwich to go.
