Great Expressions Dental Centers Fountain Oaks

I wish I would have read the reviews last year prior to selecting this office as my primary dentist for my insurance. HOWEVER, I must say I am glad that I didn’t. When I first started going to this particular office in early 2015, I ‘ve had several bad experiences. One being that each visit I had a different dentist. Secondly, front office staff was always so rude, never returned my calls, and overbilled me. So let’s fast
forward to six months later and I am just getting the matter resolved and apparently the entire office staff, including dentist, has changed again.
This time it is for the better!!! I explained my issue to the new Front Office Manager Stacy, and she listened and assured me things will get resolve. (as it did) Dr. Kim, Lisa, Lacey, and Kathy have all helped turn my bad experience to one that I must share with everyone.
The entire office atmosphere is so much more warmer and welcoming. Everyone is smiling, patient, and so willingly to help. Going to the dentist has always been a fear of mine but now I actual look forward to going. Dr. Kim and Lisa make me feel very comfortable and at ease when I am in the chair. You can sense the love and passion that they have for their profession and patients through their charismatic and infectious smiles and big hearts.
If you’re looking for a family feeling dental office. This is definitely the office you should visit.

I didn’t even have the chance to write a review of what it’s like to go and see a dentist here, although by looking at others’ experiences, it seems like them refusing to answer their phone might have saved quite a bit of time, money, and upselling.
When I had to pick a primary care dentist for my insurance, I looked at the proferred options and chose Great Expressions because it’s close to my house. Boom, done. I’m not picky.
Then I tried to make an appointment. Long story short, I’ve been calling during normal business hours for the past month. Not once has anyone ever answered the phone. I’ve left voicemails. Not once has anyone ever called me back. I even tried the appointment request form on their website, which they promise to reply to within 24 hours. Not once have I ever had the privilege of connecting with someone from Great Expressions.
This morning I had finally had enough, so I went on my insurance’s website and changed providers. Shockingly, I got connected with my new office on the first try, and am all set up to have my teeth cleaned! I filed a complaint through my insurance, but from what I’m reading here, it doesn’t seem like they care much about their handling of patients.
Edited to add: Within hours of posting this review, I had a voicemail from Great Expressions, who finally and magically found my information and managed to call me back. Coincidence? I don’t know, I’ll ask my new dentist what he thinks.

STAY AWAY! I only wish I could give 0 stars.
Only go to Great Expressions if you like being pressured and bullied into work that doesn’t need to be completed.
I went to Great Expressions on Roswell Road near Kroger only because my previous dentist was no longer in network for my insurance.
Without going into too much detail, I felt like a number and that the staff just wanted to make my visit as costly as it possibly could be to maximize the amount of work that could be charged to the insurance company.
I currently have braces and visit the orthodontist at least once a month with good reports all of the time. (And yes, I know that Orthodontists are NOT dentists. But they are actually dentists with additional training and expertise…) Not sure why these crooks would try to tell me that my mouth is in such bad shape. I left without even getting a basic cleaning as the staff tried to tell me I needed about $ 4,000 worth of work before a cleaning could even be done.
I went back to my regular dentist (Dental TLC) and they cleaned my teeth without issue after this botched experience. It was well worth the out of network fee to go back to an office where you are treated with respect and dignity instead of being treated like cattle with Great Expressions.
These people are dishonest and theatrical in their attempts to make cash. Shame on you, Great Expressions for making dentists look like used car salesman.

This was probably one of the worst dental experiences I have ever had and that is coming from someone who does not like going to the dentist. My appointment lasted two hours and I had to leave to get back to work before they could even get to the cleaning (the purpose of my appointment). Additionally, they added on a lot of things that I’ve never heard of at previous dentists that were going to cost a good amount because it wasn’t covered by insurance. They indicated they wouldn’t do the cleaning unless I agreed to the other procedures. Because of this, I decided not to return to them for my cleaning and am attempting to get my records (the X-​rays) to send to my new dentist and they are going to charge me to release these records as well. Overall just a bad experience, I suggest finding another Dentist.

Great Expression brought out the Dental Office I was going to, I guest have be going to this office for about two (2) years. I noticed some of the same people working there and felt I would be taken care of. My problem started in August 2013 when I needed fillings. I kept getting senitivity problems and the Dentist made some repairs but was still having senitivity problem and with back in to get checked a couple times. I was told eveything was was ok, and I said why am I getting senitivity and was told I need something called MI paste. Still had the problem on my appointment in Janurary 2014. My next appointment would of been in May 2014. I thought why should I go back to them and still having senitivity problems, so I cancelled my appointment. They wanted to reschedule, told them wouldn’t be back. In my research for another Dentist found out these three (3) to four (4) month scheduling, my insurance only paid for every six (6) months. It wouldn’t a been a problem if I was told the full amount would be out of pocket. I did email there Main Office with little help. Most places their billing people knows about your insurance coverage. I felt insulted when the person I called at the main office said that I should have known my coverage. On somethings I felt the other office (not Great Expression) did a better job.

Terrible place. For routine preventative dental cleaning, this place is OK. However, I cannot say anything good about the treatment. Since I went there for the frist time two years ago, there was a different dentist every time. I have never seen a dental hygienist for more than three times in a row (I do dental cleaning twice a year). The high turnover does seem to be a good sign. During the past year, I was forced to get some treatment during the routine dental cleaning. A year later, I was told that my insurance doesn’t cover my preventative cleaning anymore because I did the treatment. However, a year ago, nobody told me the consequence of the treatment in term of my insurance. Of course, a year apart, it was a different hygienist told me about the insurance problem. After that, the dentist refused to do the scheduled filling and root canal. He said because he thought I was not sure about the treatment plan and left me in the chair to «think about it». The dental cleaning and insurance problem happened before this dentist started here. I never complained that he didn’t explain the root canal clearly to me, which is a completely different matter. Later he sent the office manager to answer my question. And the office manager had no idea what was going on. I was very unhappy and left without dental cleaning and root canal. I will never go back again.

I’ve never liked the dentist. The last two or three I went to were horrible. I went to Fountain Oaks Dental today and was very impressed. They were polite and actually TALKED to me (which the last two did not… it was just the hygienist & dentist talking to each other… ABOUT me, but not TO me). Jody did an excellent job of talking me through what she was doing and was also very pleasant with the ‘chit-​chat’ while working. I’ll definitely return — it made the ‘dentist experience’ more than bearable!
