This place looks and acts like it is waiting to die, along with half the mall it’s in. I stepped in in the afternoon. There was no one at the counter and dishes where food is kept hot and served were almost completely empty. I waited for a couple minutes and a guy came in dragging a garbage can, but he ignored me. I could hear voices from in the kitchen and a guy poked peered out of a corner of the window from the kitchen, but he ignored me, too. After five minutes standing there being ignored, I walked out. I have no idea how the food is, but the experience would not encourage me to visit again.

When comparing GianCarlo’s to other restaurants in its league, it is quite good. If you are looking for an authentic Italian dining experience, don’t go to a mall for it. You will be disappointed and I will judge you for it. Bf and I strolled in on our walk in the MIdtown area on a Saturday afternoon and this one of the only places open. Colony Square Mall must be more poppin’ on the weekdays, when people are working in the area. Don’t go there on the weekend looking for the adventure of your life, again, you will be sorely disillusioned. Bf got lemon pepper wings with crinkle fries AND a large serving of chicken noodle soup. I got the Pasta e fagioli, which is tomato soup with beans and soup. We sat outside(there is food court seating available immediately outside the establishment) and the man working actually brought us out the food, which I found to be unnecessary and very kind. He was extremely polite at the register(and probably super excited that he had some customers). To our surprise, soups were served with delicious garlic knots. I was full after eating my soup, which I thoroughly enjoyed after our nice walk outside. Bf’s wings were meatier than expected and french fries were average. However, he was head over heels for the soup and upon trying it, I was digging it quite a bit too. If you are looking for some fast-food Italian-American grub, this place will satisfy. We did not try pizzas or strombolis, but those are available, as well as salads.
