If you’re used to Korean bakeries, then you will be disappointed with what to expect when coming here. However, don’t let it fool you because the snacks are yummy. I came here because I wanted to order a cake for my mom’s birthday. They don’t like very sweet cakes. I once tried to order a sheet cake at the Korean bakeries but they told me they couldn’t make one that is rectangular, only circles. Since then, I’ve been disappointed. They are decorated beautifully. I remember some of my friends ordering cakes from Chinatown and decided to give Dinho Bakery a try. Fellow Unilocaler advised me about the pandan cake with buttercream with fruit fillings. I bought the small pandan cake on display and was not disappointed. My parents definitely prefer more cake than icing and it wasn’t super sweet. I knew they will love it. I cannot wait to pick up the cake on Sunday for my mom’s birthday. They take cash only but so far, great turnout with cake. I also bought éclair and buttercream bun and was not disappointed. It’s not a hangout like most Korean bakeries so don’t expect to come and just lounge and chill.

I am obsessed with taro. Like all taro all the time. I had fond memories of Dinho Bakery and Café, and when I somehow made it back over to the chinatown food court, I was excited to return to dinho. Hmmm. Looked a little shabbier than I remembered; the years have not been kind to this place. It was dull and drab on the inside, but the warm friendliness of the owner was still going strong. I thought that the selection was not as awesome as it used to be, and my taro bun was honestly, a wee bit stale, but super flavorful and not too sweet. My friend got a bag of plantain chips(why?) and thought they were quite delish. Who knew?

We’ve been getting made-to-order cakes here for 20+ years. They were actually the first one in Atlanta to sell banh mi sandwiches. Must try here are whole loaves of bread: the red bean, coconut, and butter(they can be sliced by request). The mocha rolls are good and moist. The baker is a Vietnamese woman who has been the original baker.

This small bakery is a good spot to read a newspaper or catch a quick cup of coffee before heading in to the Dinho Market next door. You can find a nice assortment of breads filled with taro, red bean paste, pork, etc. It’s pretty standard Chinese bakery stuff. They have a good selection of bubble teas and desserts as well. The prices on the baked goods are very reasonable, the bubble tea is $ 2.50 each(not great, but definitely not as bad as elsewhere in Atlanta). Unlike the grocery store next door, the bakery does NOT take credit or checks. It’s cash only, and it can be a little awkward if you don’t realize it before bringing all your goodies to the register.
