I am sure I am the odd duck, but I have had some really nice experiences with CustomBuilt PT in Atlanta, and in my home gym in Phoenix. The contract was fairly priced and well negotiated. The clauses were well described and I followed it to a T and got a GREAT trainer and was well serviced. I had a concern about the terms and called the office in GA a couple times about payments and terms and they were super nice and supportive with southern hospitality and charm. I only wish they had someone I could work with locally, that is why they didn’t get a fifth star.

The local Custom Built office in Omaha is filled with outstanding people who do a great job. The corporate office is filled with unprofessional leadership… these«leaders» cheat the customer and tie the hands of the good employees at the local level. Poor, poor, poor customer service and underhanded practices abound.

If I could give them less than 1 star I would, however I can’t. I have been injured twice during my contract with Custom Built Personal Training. My physician has blamed both of my injuries(shin splints and chest muscle strain) on improper techniques used by the trainer at CBPT. For the record, I use them at the Workout Anytime in Dunwoody(Georgetown shopping center). I’ve been working with them 3 sessions per week since April. I’ve seen very little results, despite doing this in conjunction with weight watchers(I’ve lost weight with that!). However, their own measurements do not show any significant muscle gain. I was told to expect to gain 1 pound of lean muscle per month. I have not gained 1 pound of lean muscle in total since April, despite working out with them 3 times per week. So, I landed in the ER with the chest muscle strain(it presented as chest pain and I thought I was having a heart attack). This prompted a follow up visit to my PCP, who suggested I immediately stop working out with these people. I’ve followed their instructions regarding contract cancellation to the letter. My PCP had to sign a letter saying that I was unable to workout permanently, which he did. However, they are unwilling to refund me for the 22 sessions I have remaining, unused. That is a financial gain for them of $ 594. Their suggestion was to allow a friend or family member to use the sessions. Umm, yes, I was injured twice due to your trainers bad advice, I don’t want that on my karma load thanks. In short, CBPT uses underqualified personal trainers(I’ve worked out with at least 5 trainers(did I mention high turnover??) and none of them had any certifications in personal training, though one was a Doctor of Osteopathy who had lost his license in several states. They do not care if you actual gain any fitness; they simply want your money.
