Now re– located to the Auburn Ave Market is an old favorite. Consistently freshly made to order with fresh tasting ingredients is Bell Street Burritos. A great value, ample portions and rapid service make this place a winner. A patio or some outside seating would be a nice addition.

We actually ordered via Zifty. Starving and watching college football while the rain continues to come down. Chips, salsa fresco, steak burrito and steak burrito bowl(no rice). We both added green chilies to our burritos. The salsa fresco was very fresh and made with some great ripe tomatoes. We really liked the chips: light, crunchy and not overly salted. My burrito bowl was huge… saved half for lunch tomorrow. The beef was good but it was really the cilantro, beans, green chilies, and the remaining veg added to the burrito bowl that really made me happy. It was very flavorful and super filling. As I mentioned, I didn’t get rice and I didn’t miss it. I feel like a lot of people have indicated that the food is light on the meat. I feel like mine had enough but my boyfriend mentioned that he would have enjoyed less rice and more meat. But again, the chilies were fantastic! We will definitely order again, and next time we will order light rice. So good.

I had the pork burrito with beans on my last visit. Pretty good burrito, decently fast and convenient inside the market. The chips and different salsas were ok. By no means is it the best or worst I’ve ever had. Comparatively, there are some better burrito options in the area. It won’t be my first choice next time I’m around, but it wasn’t bad and I’d probably eat there again if a friend wanted to.

Was told about Bell Street from a friend and was looking forward to it. Unfortunately my experience wasn’t that great. The gentlemen that took my order was impatient and rude. When I received my food, it was overly salted and the tortilla was so soggy I ended up not being able to finish and threw it away. Would not recommend.

As a native Californian I must say this is yet another Mexican cuisine disappointment in the South. I ordered a chicken burrito and not only was it terribly bland, the chicken’s consistency was like it had been through the food processor. I asked for cilantro and I’m having a hard time identifying it in my burrito, as there was hardly a sprinkle put in there. The pinto beans taste like they came straight out of a can into the burrito. I wouldn’t eat here again if the burrito was free. Don’t waste your money.

How lucky am I that I work right up the aisle from Bell Street Burittos? Fabulously! Having spent a lot of time in Mexico I am very picky when it comes to authentic cuisine and until I found BSB I couldn’t replicate the experience. Eating there brings back such fond memories. Even a simple taco takes me back to my home away from home. Thanks Bell Street Burritos for being real.

As with some of the other reviewers, I was massively disappointed. There has always been so much hype about Bell Street, so I finally decided to try it out. I ordered the pork and green chilis with green sauce and jalapenos(on grilled tortilla). The burrito came out quickly, but was lukewarm and had very little flavor. It was also missing the sauce and jalepenos. Total bummer and tasted like something my unskilled self could make at home, except I could at least remember to add the jalepenos and sauce.

Best Cali style burrito in Geeee-yay and the Guac is soooo good. I live an hour from ATL and will make this my last stop before heading home. The adjoining produce market is a bonus!

A variety of delicious tacos at an unbeatable price, what more could you want? They have got options for carnivores, fish fans and vegetarians and I have never had a disappointing meal whenever I have eaten here. Friendly staff as well.

Was excited to try Bell Street Burritos as I heard they were the best in town. I am big into having a freshly prepared burrito with plenty of tomatoes, lettuce, and other fresh ingredients. This burrito is pretty basic coming with primarily meat, beans, cheese, and rice. Substituted extra black beans for rice and was charged extra. Most sides with substance come for a price. Decent burrito but was disappointed in the lack of ingredients that came on the burrito. When I pay $ 7-$ 8 for a burrito I don’t expect to pay extra for items such as sour cream or spinach. Glad I went but would prefer Chipotle over Bell Street.

Not impressed. I am mexican and this did not meet my standards. Chips are decent. The best thing about this place is the green tomatillo salsa that I can’t find anywhere else in this area. Burritos are decent size but the meat is bland and semi warm. The rice was not authentic or even tasty. These bearded dudes can make a salsa, but unless you are looking for a slight upgrade on Chipotle burrito then there really isn’t a reason to go out of your way for this place. No seating for this stall so you have to fight for seating at lunchtime with everybody else around them. Tip: Mexican coke. Green salsa.

Bell St. Burritos was a largely disappointing burrito experience. It’s too expensive for the utter lack of flavor in their food. I had the veggie burrito + cilantro and guacamole. It was SOSO bland. Nothing. I added a bunch of salsa, so that became the only flavor. The tortilla was also inordinately sticky. Not quite sure what that is, but I’m not a huge fan. I LOVE guacamole, but even that couldn’t save the burrito. However, the burrito was well-sized. It wasn’t one of those terrifyingly huge ones, but it still filled me up. I was also disappointed that chips cost extra. I usually expect those to be included at a burrito place. The service was fast. My burrito came out really quickly, and the cashier was quite nice. Unfortunately, there’s just too much competition at Sweet Auburn Curb Market to eat here again.

Bell Street left much to be desired. I saw San Franciso style burritos somewhere so I took a leap of faith and got the shrimp burrito. Unfortunately, that was probably a big mistake. The shrimp was boiled or poached, no crust and generally just bland. On top of that, my burrito was filled with much too high a ratio of beans vs everything else. I’ll try to give you another try Bell Street, but it’ll be hard given the competition from the other Sweet Auburn vendors.

Sweet Auburn Curb Market has to be one of the highlights of Atlanta eating. It’s got a wide variety of vendors, produce, fish, meat, and even some pralines. I’ve been trying to make my way through all the vendors, and today I ended up at Bell Street Burritos. I’ve heard awesome things about these guys’ generous burritos, so why not try it out myself. I ordered the pork and green chiles burrito, along with a cheese quesadilla(red salsa on the side). Now, I’ve had a very large number of burritos in my life, so I like to think I know what a good one tastes like. Unfortunately, this bad boy didn’t make the cut for me. It was gigantic, probably half the size of my very tall German-Italian face, so holy moly was I excited to stuff that in my mouth. But the result was a mushy mix of ingredients. The burritos have rice in them as a standard ingredient, but I’ve never consumed a burrito with steamed(I think) white rice with no seasoning. It was… interesting. The rest of the burrito was just very bland, and the green chiles tasted watered down, which is extremely strange. I moved on to the quesadilla with less enthusiasm than I had when approaching the burrito, and I was a little more satisfied. The cheese was surprisingly delicious, but the salsa they had in there was pretty bland. Overall, I would suggest this place to someone who is okay with average or bland tasting burritos, but that’s not a lot of people.

Went to Sweet Auburn market for lunch on a Thursday and I typically go for an arepa but I decided to try Bell St for the first time. WOW. Delicious steak and shrimp burrito. I added cilantro, sour cream and green chilies for a slight up charge. The chips are disappointing but the burrito itself was divine. Juicy meat, succulent shrimp and the green chilies were deeeelicious. Will def return, looking forward to visiting their other locations. I wish their chips were better, Willy’s has them beat in the chip department. Chips were too thick and not warm. Their salsas were pretty tasty.

I found this listed in the USA Today as one of the 10 best burritos in the USA !!! Wow I thought, how can I be so lucky as I dont live far away, yet I never heard of them. So I went right away to the one at Sweet Auburn. Closed. I see the other posts about it being closed. No sign, no hours posted. Thats the problem. I went home to look at their website and found the hours 11−3p ONLY. OK… if they posted their hours there people wouldnt be writing its closed on Unilocal! They did have a note with holiday closings, yet no mention as to when they are open is posted at their stand there. ITSHOULDBE. Most all other venders are open longer hours so it appears when you are there at different hours that this place has bitten the dust. When I went back during open hours I ordered the burrito others have raved about on Unilocal, the green chile burrito. Upon receiving it I see its wrapped like something that would have been dropped on AXIS territories during WW2. Yes thats a common look here in Georgia and you will find the same at other American style burrito places. I dont like that as its a giveaway you just scored a big bomb full of cheap filler. Yup… lots of beans and rice. I couldnt detect a trace of cheese yet the website says its there. The green chile fresh out of a can. This rice thing is pathetic and everyone is doing it in the USA that caters to a gringo crowd. You have a tortilla right, so it SHOULD be filled with tasty things and flavor, not plain white rice!(tasted like minute rice) To me thats like making a sandwich but instead of adding the usual just adding more bread in the middle!
How this could be rated a top 10 burrito in the USA is a mystery to me! Whomever wrote that knows nothing about taste, authenticity, and probably just need to make a deadline so grabbed sites randomly. Granted Atlanta is not a city of quality Mexican food, but this doesnt even come close. There are places in town that can make a burrito FARFAR better than this one. Part of the problem could be raters dont want a burrito with«kick» in it… they want them plain and without any spice as thats all they can handle. Just seems a shame to have something so plain make the list when those that truly deserve to be on that list don’t make it. Thousands of places along the border states of Texas, New Mexico, Arizona, and California should be on that top10 list instead!

Color me impressed. I’ve been here a few times now and it’s quite delicious. Their menu has the basic mexican fare but has interesting ingredients to mix it up. Despite burritos being their namesake, I must say the quesadillas are my favorite by far. Mix and match and try everything though, I have yet to have a mediocre meal here. The location is a bit cramped if there’s a crowd and there isn’t a clear place for the to go folks to stand, so a lot of the time people will wait for their food at a table while other folks may need to sit. A minor issue but for some who need to eat their food in a more formal environment it may be an issue. Parking is limited but there’s plenty of street space and the area is walkable for Atlanta. Overall Bell Street offers a good product, fast service and a meal that’s under $ 10. Doesn’t get much better than this. Just in case you need an extra incentive, they have cheerwine. on tap.

Fantastic burrito, with some small adjustments needed for perfection. I ordered the pork burrito with salsa fresca and guacamole. As she was ringing me up, the cashier leaned in and confided, «That sounds delicious!» And it was – the pork in particular made the burrito. It was tender and well-seasoned and really shone through the other ingredients. The tortilla was warm and stretchy, and the rice and beans had good flavors as well. My primary suggestion for improvement would be more even distribution of the guac and salsa inside the burrito; I found a «hot spot» of each rather than enjoying them with each bite. Add in free refills of fountain drinks, and Bell Street Burritos is an almost five.

On first bite, I was skeptical. Everyone waited for my proclamation. «Well, is it the same?» They waited with bated, burrito breath. They all knew I’d lived for several years almost directly behind Tortilla’s. They knew that my second meal ever in Atlanta(before I’d ever even moved here) was on that second floor, eating a steak burrito with guac and chips, overlooking a raggedy ol’ Ponce De Leon. They knew that I’d gone there so much over the intervening years that I had a favorite toy/order tracker(which, by the way, was that beat-up Fisher Price truck.) And that first bite was… not the same. It was close, but it wasn’t quite Tortilla’s. But after I’d had some time to think about it, it was pretty damn close and I think the differences exist entirely in my mind now. Tortilla’s was the first in Atlanta, the Ur burrito. I may be remembering a mythic construct, a burrito that tastes of rainbows and leprechauns and unicorn farts. I may be remembering a burrito created by Pancho Villa himself to feed his band of wily revolutionaries and his pet chupacabra. The Ur burrito is the alpha and the omega; it spits in the face of all others while sodomizing Rick Bayless to the tune of the Mexican Hat Dance. So my first comparison was probably unfair. Still, the taste was close enough, which is a good thing. Unfortunately, Bell Street found a way to replicate the other Tortilla experiences, like the 10+ minute wait for a burrito(hey, Willy’s has spoiled me these days) and the way all the steak pools down at the bottom at the burrito so your first few bites have as much steak in them as the PETA buffet at Burning Man. And their guac? Yeah, they use taco seasoning in it just like Tortilla’s did and, honestly, it reminded me that I wasn’t a big fan of that. It’s not so bad that I wouldn’t eat it, but as I’ve gotten older, I prefer my guac relatively unmolested. Despite the last paragraph, consider this an overall positive review. I’d go back, Fisher Price truck or no. Four stars.

Food order was a chicken burrito(pre-filled with beans and rice) with the add ons being jalapenos(free), green sauce(free), cilantro(free), and green chilis(+$ 1). What I got was a small baby wrapped in foil. The taste was mighty fine. A step up from chipolte. I also LOVED the green chili add on. Fabulousity! The only issue experienced was in peeling back the foil to take a bite. Either the burrito wasn’t well wrapped or there was way too much watery sauce because the damn majority wrapped burrito dripped all over me. Was not a fan of that little technical issue. While waiting in line I noticed a couple of people coming back to return their food; «My taco chicken isn’t what I expected». The employees were nice about it. WTF people, this isn’t Taco Bell quality food. I am pretty sure that’s what they were expecting. **I probably wouldn’t make a special trip to Sweet Auburn Market for Bell Street, but if I was already here or driving by it would be one of my top picks**
