I was referred here by my OB/GYN to take a better look at something found during my annual visit, saying«let’s have the breast specialists look at it.» My appointment was with Anna, the nurse practitioner. I arrived about 15 minutes early to fill out the paperwork(the usual 3 – 4 forms discussing medical history, privacy, and payment). The office is light and calm, the chairs comfy. I didn’t have time to get to any of the magazines since I was called fairly quickly after my paperwork was complete. The nurse showed me to a procedure room, and went through my medical history. I needed an ultrasound, and was impressed at all the capability they have in house. Nothing is more annoying to me that being referred to someone who just refers you to somewhere and someone else for a decently simple procedure. Anna arrived and did the ultrasound. She talked me through it, pointing out what was on the screen, explaining concerns and good signs. She talked me through all the possibilities, listened in detail as I explained that I’d had something similar looked at years ago. She took down the information, said she’d track down the records from the previous doctor and ultrasound, and told me not to worry. Then she brought in Dr. Morehouse, apparently waiting for her so that I could be squeezed in. Dr. Morehouse took a look and had pretty much the same explanation, very thoroughly explaining what is good, what is bad, and why my situation required more information. Both women had great bedside manner, making sure to answer all my questions and thoroughly explain without raising alarm. Anna kept my mind occupied asking questions about me, taking my mind off the issue at hand. A few days later, I received a call from the office that the discussion with the previous doctor had taken place, but that it wasn’t enough, so they were getting the images themselves. A few days after that(1 week since the appointment) I received a voicemail directly from Anna explaining the further review with instructions to call back and confirm that I’d received the call and to get on the schedule for a visit in another year. Now that’s customer service that I am not accustomed to in a doctor’s office — personal calls from the practitioners and being able to plan visits a year in advance!
