I am a lucky woman! I had the Tri-​fecta of beauty and wellness experience at The Aviary. A day spent starting with an amazing massage with Alexis– truly a skilled massage therapist and amazing results! Followed by a facial by Kelly that made my skin look and feel years younger and healthy using oxygen therapy which was a first for me– I will be doing that frequently! My day ended with the amazing colorist and stylist, Victoria. She was able to correct color that had been done very poorly elsewhere and cut and texturize my bulky hair into a entire new look. Needless to say when I left the salon, I felt and looked 10 years younger. Better than botox ladies!!! The atmosphere is welcoming and calming at The Aviary and I couldn’t leave there without purchasing many of the product lines they use which I have not seen elsewhere. I cannot wait to go back and repeat this performance. You are all Rock Stars in my book, Alexis, Kelly and Victoria.

I’ve never had my hair professionally colored before, so on my recent trip to Atlanta, I took a chance on this little shop. I have to say, I am in LOVE with my balayage! Jenni was my stylist, and she was absolutely amazing. She listened to everything I wanted, and was able to give me a very pretty result. The next time I’m in Atlanta and I need my hair done, this is definitely my go-​to salon!

I highly recommend Alexis for massage at The Aviary. The space is great and inviting. Alexis has given me the 3 best massages of my life. She makes me feel so comfortable and I feel like I have had a nap and a hug after I am done. As a Hairstylist my shoulders are very tight and Alexis spends a lot of time of my trouble areas. I feel like I have found «the one». Please do yourself a favor and call her today.

My first time getting my hair colored here by their amazing hair stylist Jenni and she did an awesome job with my balayage. She is as good of a hairstylist as she is as a human being. I’m glad I found this place and can’t wait to be back!!!

I booked my hair appointment with Jenni based on all the reviews here. She gets rave reviews, but I have to say that I received one of the worst hair cuts of my entire life. It is hacked/​butchered… HORRIBLE. I am seriously thinking about going somewhere to get it cut short (ears) in order to fix this, and I had below shoulder hair when I went to Jenni. Before she started cutting she had talked about what she was going to do, but it is nothing like she had planned. I was in the chair for 2 hours! I keep telling myself ‘it’s just hair’ but almost every time I look in the mirror, I get sad/​upset. It is a bad, bad haircut, and a couple of my friends agree.
I know most of the other reviews here are good, so maybe I just got her on an off-​day. Unfortunately I will be taking at least a year to grow this back out.

Alexis is incredible! I’ve been all over, and truly believe you won’t find a better massage in all of Atlanta. I was originally brought in when I bought a Gilt City deal and I am so thankful I did, because now I go frequently and going in for my massage has become one of my favorite things to do. I highly recommend going to see her!
Also, The Aviary has an awesome selection of products to make you fabulous and happy including Davines and Moon Dust. The location is cozy and inviting inside of studioplex, and there is ample parking. It’s an all around awesome spot!

I went to Aviary recently and had my hair done by Victoria. I can’t say enough amazing things about the salon. Loved the atmosphere… immediately felt comfortable there and Victoria was so great. I don’t get my hair cut, colored and styled often and she absolutely knocked it out of the park with very little suggestion from me. She was so great to talk to and didn’t give me the forced small talk feeling that you get at some salons. I have already recommended this salon to many friends and hope that they have a chance to check it out soon. Definitely going to Aviary again and highly recommend Victoria!!!

If you go here, ask for Victoria! She is way chill and prescribed me just the look and color I was going for. I’ve gotten quite a few compliments since I got my hair done but most importantly I love it. The place is really cute/​rustic chic. I feel like they thought of everything. Super relaxing and in a great location for me. Would definitely go back.

A tucked away gem in booming historic Old 4^th Ward near Inman Park off the Beltline, this day spa and hair salon is a must-​visit! The staff is non-​pretentious yet highly trained and professional. The vibe is urban chic — great music and décor, awesome people and quality products in a cool neighborhood. I love their new hair stylist Jenni — she does the most amazing cuts and color! I can’t wait to go back for more treatments like the Rejuvenate + Instant Infusion facial that everyone is raving about. Tip: Book your appointment ahead of time!

Studioplex oozes character and hipness, and Aviary does not disappoint. Jenn and Amy were warm, welcoming, and attentive. Jen listened to me, looked at the picture I had printed out without any hint of snarkiness, and worked thoughtfully and meticulously on my hair. we talked comfortably about our work and what we both love about what we do and how some somewhat unusual circumstances brought us both to our current businesses. It felt natural and unforced-​as other reviewers have said, she does this well. Oh, and of course, my hair looks fantastic.

My 30^th birthday is fast approaching, and I decided I wanted to enter the next decade in better shape. Getting my skin in order and reducing stress through massage were both part of the plan. Kelly (skin) and Christine (massage) are helping me.
THE SPACE
I like the aesthetics of their loft space. It’s inviting (which can be hard in a loft). There is natural light from the courtyard and windows in the reception and hair areas, but that light doesn’t penetrate into the treatment rooms. They also have nice pottery and pieces that had a naturalistic feel. I enjoy walking in.
SKIN by Kelly
Kelly has shown me the truth about skin care! My skin has visibly improved over the last 6 weeks because of her help.
I’ve had the occasional facial on vacation. In each case, it was a relaxing experience, but not an experience that changed my skin. In truth, I felt that those estheticians were trying to sell me products, not help me better my skin. In contrast, Kelly described why my skin looked the way it did, suggested products *that she didn’t sell* to improve the texture of my skin, and detailed a maintenance plan for after our visit. At the end of the appointment, she told me that we could meet again in 5 weeks – my skin needed some time to adjust to the new routine. Honestly, I was so determined to improve my skin that I would have done weekly visits – I appreciated that she was honest about the level of care my skin needed.
The visit itself was relaxing and informative – she was willing to share what steps she was taking on my skin and how those steps helped my skin. The treatment room is calm and dark. She plays a nice Sufjan Stevens-​esque mix from Pandora.
MASSAGE by Christine
Christine has a relaxed, kind energy that translates to the massage experience. During my first visit, we took a fair amount of time discussing what I wanted to accomplish (relaxation) and where I wanted her to focus. She focused on the areas I specified but still gave me a full body massage.
I’ve stuck with hot stone massages in the past, as I was worried about leaving the massage being sore. The first time around, Christine did a traditional massage that accomplished the same level of relaxation without leaving me hurting at the end. During my second visit, she did a deeper, stronger massage that did leave me a bit sore, but in a good way. In both cases, I floated, a bit disoriented, out of the treatment room – just what I wanted.
I’ve set up bi-​weekly massages for the next 2 months on the strength of my first 2 experiences.

I just got my hair done here for the first time. I absolutely LOVE that this is an organic salon. I’m 26 weeks pregnant and am very conscious about minimizing my exposure to harmful chemicals. I was so excited when I found this place online. Worth the 30 minute drive into the city.
I thought she did a really nice and thorough job cutting my hair. Very thoughtful and wanted to make sure she gave me what I needed :)

I have been a client of Aviary for several years. Originally brought in on a ScoutMob deal, I was instantly drawn to the warmth and the people. Amy, my esthetician, took my skin care to heart. Together she and I worked as a team to rid my face of cystic painful acne, and the scars they leave behind. 5 years ago, I felt self conscious leaving the house without some sort of concealer on… Now, today, sunscreen, maybe some bronzer and mascara, and I’m good to go. I’ve never been more in love with my skin!
Combining yoga and massage therapy, I’ve been able to take control of my overall body, and wellbeing. Christine, my massage therapist, is hands down the best therapist in Atlanta. She listens to your needs, and ensures that your pain is addressed. The first time I saw Christine I was traveling 60%, and had chronic neck and back pain. I’ve seen so many different massage therapists over the years, I’ve lost count, and was certain my future was just managing the pain. Thanks to Christine’s commitment, I actually know what it is to be pain free. She uses massage cupping therapy, and that addition has changed the way my body reacts to massage therapy. It is MIRACULOUS.
I’ve spent the last five years focusing on my overall wellbeing, mind, body and soul. The menu of services might lead you to believe that they only help with the body portion of my practice, but they help with it all. I’m so grateful I’ve made the transition of client into friend with these ladies, they are some of my favorite people on the planet!

My son and I both go to Amy for facials. They are the best in the city!
She has helped us both keep our skin clear and has taught us how to maintain our skin with a simple daily regimen.
The space is also really beautiful.

I went to Jenni for balayage this week and I am OBSESSED with my hair! I’ve never had such a fun change. It was a little out of the box for me so I was slightly nervous and she eased me into it so I felt really comfortable. Aviary is such a relaxing environment and everyone is so nice and laid back. I will never go back to Van Michael!

This salon totally calms me down… unlike other salons, it’s not a chaotic mess of hair dryers, fluorescent lighting, and hairdresser conversations, but it’s a serene sanctuary of an industrial loft space with natural light (especially when the sun is out). Ben & J.J. described the look and feel perfectly– Anthropologie in a salon setting. And as you all know, I love me some Anthropologie hipster vibe. Jenn is a cool cat without being intimidating… she’s very laid back and chats with you just enough while working on my hair (perfect balance between too chatty and not talking at all). I feel like I can trust her to do what my hair needs, without me having to micromanage or over-​describe.
Plenty of free parking so you don’t have to worry about parking tickets or walking too far in the rain or humidity and having your salon ‘do ruined… I park at the very far end of the Studioplex building.
Only negative is that the appointments go fast because Jenn is very popular. But at least I can make appointments over email!

After the unexpected loss of my stylist after 10 years of stellar service, I spent the past year wandering around to various salons and shops looking for someone who could once again work some magic with my coarse, wavy hair. As fate would have it, I happened on an introduction to Unilocal Atlanta’s newest CM Ben and his lovely wife JJ who recently relocated to Atlanta and had been in need of similar services. They referred me to the incomparable Jenn Jones and the crew over at Aviary and for that I am forever grateful.
Aviary occupies the farthest corner of the Studioplex complex in the O4W just behind Krog Street near the water tower on Auburn. Furnished with reclaimed wood and other natural accents, you honestly feel like a bird in the best of nests. They are super accommodating with scheduling, genuine in conversation, and simply the best at their craft.
Jenn Jones is the epitome of solid customer service. From emails to texts, she’ll consult on just about anything you have floating around in your head and give you an honest opinion on where your locks should lie. Recently honored as the best colorist in Atlanta, I’ve lended myself to her colorful whim with shades of green and blue over the past few visits. Her skills with the blade are second to none as well, and she has given this kid on chemo a shot of confidence he hasn’t had in quite some time.
Suffice is to say I’m a fan, her clients adore her, and after a couple visits she’ll be one of your best friends.

I’m not exactly the kind of hipster kid who needs the fancy neo-​pompadour cut with the slick back look and such. I’m also not very cool like some folks who have really awesome hair and are the lustful idols of other style-​savvies.
Nope. My hair pretty much does one thing and there’s a whole lot of it on top of my big dome. Chalk that up to a gnarly, Nordic-​style beard on my face and you’ve got one funky hair project on your hands. Enter: Jenn Jones of Aviary. (Huge props to my friend and Charlotte stylist, Stephanie, for the recommendation!)
Holy wow. First off, this place is super quaint. It looks like it should live inside of Anthropologie… but it’s way cooler. It’s rather cozy and super hip. Not the kind of hip that makes you want to lose 10lbs either.
Jenn already knows you. That’s what I like. She doesn’t push anything on you or make you feel self-​conscious about your dome piece. She asked me what I was looking for or what I normally do and she put her own spin on it. I’m not even sure what you’d coin my cut as, but she did some wonderful new things to it. She added a lot of texture so my crazy double-​crown doesn’t make my head look like a bunch of trees that just got blown over. She even trimmed my sideburns low enough to taper my beard. Whaaaat?! Now that’s a service I’ve never received. So, after the fact, not only does she have my hair looking nicely shaped, but my face, too? Winner, winner!
It’s a little more than I’m used to paying, but when you have that kind of service and friendly atmosphere, I’m never going to balk at the price. Getting my haircut is kind of like going shopping for clothes — I don’t tend to look forward to it hardly ever. Buuuuuut, Jenn is one of the few who have made it something to look forward to.

Moving to a new city is challenging for a number of reasons. Transferring utilities, changing addresses on all kinds of things, finding a new standby shopping market, locating the best pizza delivery…
For me, the biggest hurdle is finding an amazing hairstylist. In the last place I lived, it took me about 4 years to find someone with enough talent and a creative streak who understood my passion for self-​expressive hair design.
When I found out that we were moving to Atlanta, apprehension was high until my stylist in Charlotte suggested I go see Jenn Jones at Aviary.
I instantly followed Jenn on the social media and saw that her style was just exactly what I hoped for. Within 2 weeks of moving, I contacted her and made an appointment.
Yesterday, I walked into Aviary. (Imagine the aesthetic of Anthropologie perfectly executed in a salon-​type setting.) I met with Jenn and we chatted about our collective vision for my hair. Within an hour, she had provided me an excellent style and I walked out with freshly shorn locks. I’m now the envy of every hipster kid I encounter.
Super friendly staff, great location close to where we live, reasonable pricing, perfect environment.
Go to Aviary. Have great hair.
