What a disappointment! My sister and brother-in-law wanted to meet my family of four here for a fun afternoon. I checked the website for hours(11am-7pm), and we decide to meet at 2:30pm. When we arrive there is a large chalkboard out front that says«walk ins welcome today after 12:30.» Inside we begin looking at the pottery and the 2 kids pick out their pieces. After about 10 minutes a woman walks over to us and says they are not accepting walk ins today. We point to the sign out front, and she replies they are full. We also question that as there are only 2 groups in the store(a couple with an infant and one adult with two kids). We point to all the empty tables to which she replies there aren’t enough chairs. The other patrons offer us the extra chairs from their tables they aren’t using, but the woman insists we cannot paint today suggesting we come back another day. We got the point that we were not welcome.

Ok, to start off I must admit I was NOT looking forward to this! It was bought as a Groupon gift for my girlfriend… I put it off as long as I could but finally went this past weekend. I was the only guy in there for a while, but a couple more came in by the time it was over. There were two big groups of girls there when we went, seemed like a big«chick thing». Truthfully-it wasn’t near as bad as I was expecting! I actually kinda got into it and my inner Picaso(ok, Dali) came out! You can bring in your own drinks and snacks, which is cool. A few cocktails might have made my work better in retrospect! The people were amazingly friendly and helpful! Checked on us a few times(I think due to my deer in headlights facial expressions…) and answered any questions we had! Overall, we both really had fun and it was a cool experience! They have a bunch of different items to choose from to paint, from plates, to frames, to coffee mugs to piggy banks and the list goes on! All paints, stencils and anything you need is included in the price which is nice too! I will say though, it was Africa hot in there and the chairs you work in do nothing for your back and butt… especially when you’re there for a good 3 – 4 hours or more depending on what you pick to paint! Fun though, worth a try~!

My sister and I have been coming here for years. This has always been a great place to come. They are no longer on the top floor above TCBY but right next to Kroger as you pull in the front you will see it. Right next to Sally’s. There are lots of other competitors out there these days but my sister and I think this one is by far the best. The employee’s there are always super friendly, helpful and nice. The items they have there range anywhere to children’s nick nacks and penny banks to plates, candle holders, jars and pots, etc for adults. They now have where you can bring your own adult beverage and snacks for a cute girls night out which they didn’t have before. They also have been doing a lot of private parties and/or events but sometimes they are still open for others. One group was there throwing a baby shower, AWESOME idea!!! The paint selection is great, they have glass pieces which you can paint too, tons of stencils, brushes, etc. This place has always been a favorite, and highly recommend it!

I think painting pottery is cool. There I said it. Don’t mock me. I think painting a cupcake for my niece is even cooler. I think painting pottery for my niece and nephew while they are also painting a scary snake and a little fish is the coolest of all. I would love to give Art and Soul 5 stars simply because I love painting pottery that much. Sadly, they only receive a three. I found the selection of pottery both limited and overpriced. There seemed to be more adult-oriented pieces(wine bucket anyone?) than kids pieces. I did like that the paint was in a separate container and you got to squeeze it into your palate. The only problem with that was when you needed a refill… I couldn’t remember the color I used! Also, they have hairdryers to dry the paint layers; this was problematic because a hot hair dryer is not the friendliest to children, or to your skin. I think fans would have worked better. The staff was friendly enough, and the wait time for your piece was about average(about a week). The location is also decent. The best part about this place was the airiness about it… lots of light and open space for the little ones to run around. I’d definitely come back here to make a wine bucket!

I had to find a place to take my artista girlfriend. Luckily I stumbled upon this place via Unilocal. As you enter you are surrounded by a nice array of all white ceramics to choose from. Of course I choose the«easy» one. An already molded doggie cup. I figured it would be as close to paint by numbers as I could get. But not having a lick of artistic ability made even this elementary undertaking, daunting. The two hours I spent on my Bella inspired cup were really fun. But the cup was not awe inspiring. My girl’s Radiohead/Stanley Donwood inspired cup was an instant classic in comparison. The owner does allow you to bring in food and wine. Now that I know it basically takes as long as you want, a bottle or two would make it that much better.

I posted on my Facebook page yesterday that I was«heading over to Art and Soul to paint pottery» and 5 of my girlfriends showed up. It was pouring down rain and we were all bored at home. We decided to paint pottery as you can do other crafts like glass painting, mosaics, and more. You pick what you want to paint and the price is on the bottom. There are no surprises on the price and you are not limited to paint colors or time. They have tons of stuff that you can paint — you name it, they probably have it. I was not able to complete my piece so it is on the unfinished shelf waiting for me to return. We received a ton of personal attention from the owner, Lucy, and all of her staff. And we were able to enjoy some appetizers and wine that we brought with us. I would highly recommend this place if you enjoy this type of activity and take a group with you as that makes it even more fun.

This is a great pottery painting place. I went with a group for our monthly meeting. In fact, they opened up the studio just for our group, which was really nice. Their selection of pieces was extensive — they even had glass that you could paint. Their color selection was good, and you could use as many and as much as you want. I must say I prefer this business model. The entire price is incorporated into to price of the piece. Creativity isn’t limited to 4 colors, and people want to make the piece without worrying how long it’s going to take or how much paint it’s going to take. The staff was extremely helpful and knowledgeable — offering so much advice about color and pattern, guiding you in the best direction so that you’re happy with all your hard work at the end. I can’t wait to see how my piece turned out, but regardless, I would happily return to Art and Soul.
