Well– you can tell they don’t take kindly to growing groups. SONOTCOOL about the 18% add on. How was I suppose to know people would show. The carrot top who waited us seemed irritated… again– sorry people showed up to a birthday party. By the end of our time there I could tell we were obnoxious for staying that late so we ska-daddled elsewhere. Food was on point.

This is the best bar in the area in my opinion. It is spacious and everything they offer comes out quick and is super good. the drinks are not too expensive and the vibe is classy wiht a touch of grunge but casual overall. i would take a date here hands down. i would also think about going here to cruise by myself as well. the options are endless because this place is cool

I enjoy this spot for when people want to get together and play boardgames. I think they could have a little easier-to-navagate menu(a few healthier options would be welcome), and maybe more comfortable chairs for long seated visits, especially in the upper levels where people tend to stay for a long time, but I’ve never had a bad time there and I like the beer selection a lot. The servers are patient.

While the beer selection is really nice, the food is kinda hit or miss. I love the atmosphere and came in for the potato gnocci advertised as the nights special on the board outside and they were out. The first 2 beers i tried to order, they were also out of. Settled on a beer and ordered the poutine. It was just before the kitchen closed. I could hardly put a fork through the fries and the gravy was a little congealed and very salty. You couldn’t taste the generous portion of brisket over the gravy. Last time I got the Tuna Tartare Tostada and asked if there was anything in it not mentioned on the menu, as I have food allergies, and was told no. It had some kind of peppers finely diced in it(jalapeño or bell) which I can’t have. I just didn’t bother. I also got the beer boiled peanuts and they were not hot and had a pecan flavor, wasn’t impressed. And I had to ask for my check 3 different times from 3 different bartenders and was finally brought the wrong check to begin with… Come for the beer/cocktails and the atmosphere. If you get food, stick to burgers and the wood fired pizza.

Food is GOOD. Service is HORRIBLE. We came in on a slow Thursday afternoon and sat outside. A server saw us and completely ignored us. It wasnt that crowded so it wasnt because that she too busy. Finally someone brought out the menu for us. But the server was weird. Kinda attitude and looked like he hated his job. This is so sad cause I love the food here. But I dont think im gonna come back anymore. There are so many restaurants with good food and service out there.

I usually don’t recommend establishments if I don’t love their food, but I think Argosy’s robust beer and wine lists, as well as poppin’ atmosphere, definitely make me a fan. So go there for a good time and to hangout with friends. My take. ***** I. FOOD&DRINK I visited Argosy for a birthday party and ordered mainly small plates off of their dinner menu. What I had: *Sesame Chicken Lollipops: with chilli, soy, scallion, and cucumber salad, I just thought there was a lot going on. Not to mention that the lollipops seemed a bit overfried and dry. I personally wouldn’t recommend them. *Duck Confit Steamed Buns: I think these steamed buns are fine, but if you’ve had baos before then you’ve likely had better. Again, decent option, but not memorable. *Brasstown Beef Poutine: They use a stout braised brisket and beautiful gravy and cheese curds. Very gluttonous, and I loved it. Definitely recommend. Regarding their drinks, they have so many beers to choose from and decent mixed-drink list. This is probably what you should go here for. II. SERVICE I forget her name, but she took care of our party and did a great job with our orders. Food also came out at a reasonable pace. No qualms here. III. AMBIENCE/DÉCOR Definitely the main selling point of Argosy. The space is simply gorgeous. The main room has beautiful hanging lights and sexy crafted tables and chairs. It’s lively and intimate, and there’s private upstairs seating. On the main floor in the back, there’s a game room with a hovering, glowing gigantic octopus that’s pretty rad. I also dig the painted trophies that reside on the walls. Oh, and ski ball. That’s pretty baller. –Just a cool place. IV. PRICES They’re fine. Drinks are at a reasonable price and most small plates however at or below $ 10. Portions are generous. V. OVERALL Again, although I don’t love their food, I would absolutely return for their drinks and atmosphere. It’s a great option, if you’re ever in EAV.

Firstly, I might be weird, but their Marge Pizza is straight up my favorite in the city. The cheese is just so… cheesy. The tomatoes and basil are so fresh. The wood fire grill makes the crust perfectly crunchy. I love it. I love everything about it. Their beer list is awesome, their mixed drinks are great. What more could you ask for? Also, my fiancée held his birthday party in the loft space last November. We had over 40 people, only one main server, and I swear to god, she didn’t mess up one order AND remembered everyone’s name. She was top notch. I know sometimes the service can be spotty, but this is a place I want to support forever and ever.

Came with a group of 6 for dinner last week. We came on a weekday around 7pm, and were surprisingly lucky with parking. We were seated quickly at one of the high top tables. Loved the atmosphere – casual, hip, and fun, with lots of different kinds of seating. We split two apps: sesame chicken lollipops and an order of fries. Chicken lollipops were well fried with great flavor, also quite easy to eat because they were«lollipops.» Fries were solid as well. I got the nashvegas hot chicken as my entrée. I was worried about how spicy it would be, so I got the traditional southern style, which isn’t as spicy. The chicken was well fried and super juicy. I wish I had gotten the regular version instead of the less spicy version because it wasn’t spicy at all. As a lover of Nashville’s hot chicken, my only issue with Argosy’s version was that there was too much celery flavor(I would guess from too much celery seed?) and it overpowered the flavors. Best part of Argosy was all the different kind of beers!

Love this place. I was first introduced to this fine joint when Ben G. had his welcome CMYE event when he was the ATL Unilocal manager. I was already a huge fan of the EAV area but fell instantly in love with Argosy. Their cool vibe, super friendly staff and overall décor of this place made me want to tell everyone I knew about this place. Visited here several times in the past year for Saturday night fun, birthday dinners and so on. Most recently, I had my birthday party on the second floor, indoor balcony area. It was PERFECT. The place comfortably houses about 24 people, cocktail style with plenty of seating all throughout the private space. There’s a $ 500CC hold for the reservation. Collectively as a group, the minimum spend is that amount and the balance would be charged to your card if it was under spent. I worked with Chris R., the office manager at Argosy to plan for the party and he was über patient with me and helpful in answering all of my questions leading up to the event. I appreciated his help in communicating to the management team my request and setting us up with Emily who was our fantastic server for the night! I was initially expecting about 30+ guests but about 22 – 23 showed up and it was perfect since again, per Chris’ suggestion, the private space comfortably seats that many. After visiting the space last Saturday, I wouldn’t recommend more than a group of 24 in order to have some room to mingle and have all of your guests be comfortable. Their special menu rocked! It was all appetizers but my friends loved the food. Everything from the sesame chicken lollipops, assorted pizzas, hummus, poutine and house fries were great! Thanks again for a lovely experience! It was a memorable birthday party and several of my friends also fell in love with Argosy since it was their first visit last weekend!

Located in the hip EAV, I’ve come to Argosy a couple of times now for weekend drinks. Both times, I had great beers from its impressive beer lineup and some dope food. The pizza was fantastic and although the late night snack menu is incredibly tempting, I held myself together and only ordered the beer boiled peanuts(I finished the whole bowl solo… so good). Knowing that they have different menus for each meal of the day and seeing how freaking good the late night menu is, I most certainly will come back for breakfast, brunch, lunch, linner, dinner, etc.

Unilocal helped«steer»(boat pun intended) us to Argosy, not a merchant ship or the for-profit university, but a cool restaurant in East Atlanta. Curated beer list and elevated pub grub in a trendy space? We’re sold. Try your luck in the parking lot just south of the restaurant. There is a bit of a wait on popular nights, but at least Argosy will seat incomplete parties. Four of us were placed at a six person table. The table was actually sorta narrow so that worked out since we could use the empty spots for extra plates and such. The respectable beer list is light on the local brews but heavy on a wide range of styles. Beer snobs will be able to find something appealing on tap or in a bottle. I gave one of the two goses on the draft menu a go, not bad at all. Most of the draft beers are in the $ 5 – 8 range. Two orders of the Brasstown beef poutine($ 8 each) were successfully destroyed. The beef is braised in Eventide’s Dry Irish Nitro Stout; curds are smaller than what I’m used to but no matter. The certified poutine expert at the table gave the poutine the stamp of approval. I sampled one of the wing-like sesame chicken lollipops which was an iota too spicy for me but were popular with the rest of our gang. Since I can’t resist a burger, I went with the Plancha burger($ 10) which could certainly be a contender for one of Atlanta’s better burgers. Even the presentation was noteworthy, on a wooden cutting board. You aren’t asked how you want the patties cooked since there are two thin ones, hugged by a sturdy H&F bun. The American cheese was melted and gooey. I prefer raw onions but caramelized ones work too, and there are pickles and a separate spear but no lettuce or tomato. You know a burger’s great when you are down to the last bite and don’t want to eat it since then the burger will be gone. Fries are the default side; I subbed an «accessory» for a $ 1.50 upcharge, getting the black eyed pea and pickled GA corn salad. This proved to be a wise move since the southern salad was excellent, with some onions and lots of vinegar. Good portion size too. Others seemed happy with their Nashvegas hot chicken sandwiches and The Admiral pizzas. Our hipster server was very polite and may have slipped in a few«darlins» here and there. Perhaps he could have been a teensy tad more attentive but hey, it was a busy weekend evening. The bathrooms are at the back of Argosy; simply walk down the hall marked with taxidermy heads and look right. The women’s restroom had three stalls I think and didn’t have any issues. Dear Argosy, Since it’s Valentine’s Day, I just wanted to tell you that you are supercool. Thanks for the delicious food and drinks. We all had lots of fun. Let’s do it again soon! XOXO, me.

What can I say about Argosy that hasn’t been said before? Probably not much, but I’m gonna write this review anyway. I’ve been to Argosy several times because it’s one of those neighborhood places where I know what I’m going to get. Because I know what I’m going to get, I only come a few times a year. My favorite menu item are the sesame chicken lollipops. I’ve ordered these almost every time I’ve visited Argosy and they are always delicious. I even eat the cucumber slices that come with them — edible garnish — yay! I most recently had the blondie dessert and it was incredibly tasty — not overly sweet with a chewy texture that I really liked. The pizza’s I’ve had have been decent, but my favorite came with sweet peppers and they no longer serve it — boo!!! :-(The only item I’ve had that I would never order again is a hot dog. I ordered one once and it was awful — flavorless with an odd pâté-ish texture — I couldn’t eat it. Everyone can tell you how pretty Argosy is — high ceilings with gorgeous artwork make it a pretty place to meet and greet, and that’s what people do here. Lots of them. It’s a popular place for groups and couples on date night. Because I’m a frequent solo diner; this is one place in my neighborhood that I feel uncomfortable in because I’m usually the ONLY solo diner at the bar. This odd-man-out thing doesn’t happen as much earlier in the week, so I tend to limit my solo Argosy visits to Tuesdays and Wednesdays. Service here is wack-a-doodle. I never know how it’s going to be and I rarely see the same person. I don’t know if it’s turnover or what. It’s not awful but it’s not the most attentive either. I like the game room in the back — mostly because of the booth that I call the«hobbit hole». Even though the booth is wide open to the room it feels like an enclosed space and because it faces the door, it’s great for people watching. The tiny back deck behind the game room is great in the summer; especially for smokers. Unilocal 100 #8

I love Argosy. I don’t frequent it as much as I would like, but every time I go I enjoy it. They have a great beer selection on tap, sometimes having beers I haven’t seen on tap at many other places. Their cocktails are also pretty good. I had a moscow mule the last time I was there and liked the way it was made. As for appetizers, the seasame chicken lollipops are worth trying. The cheese plate is delicious. I hated sharing it, as I wanted the whole thing to myself. All of the entrees I’ve tried are great. I especially like the wood fired pizza. It’s hard to pick which one is my favorite, but I think it’s the Mutiny on the Bounty or the Mermaid(depending on if you want a red or white pizza). The atmosphere is great too. The building used to be a church or something close to that and has stained glass windows and super cool architecture. There are a lot of different levels of seating as well, but it’s very open. Definitely a place that hipsters hang out, and it gets more crowded around 8 o’clock. They have a lot, but it gets a little crowded so you might have to find street parking. Would recommend for drinks and appetizers, or just dinner, or everything. Great spot in East Atlanta Village.

«Great choice. But nothing beats two cheeseburgers with secret sauce. Goes great with this ’45 Lafitte.» — Kingsman: The Secret Service(2014) I love a great bar with awesome food and friendly staff. What do I love more? Let’s see… Let’s talk about creative décor(funky and nautical without trying too hard), plenty of seating(and not just the uncomfortable kind, but also«cool-kid couches,» large tables to accommodate larger parties and plenty of bar seating and a private room you can reserve). Yea, there is that. Also, quite the beer(and cider) selection for those who are interested in local and microbrews. Great cocktail options and bartenders who like to be challenged. Also, the music selection is always pretty spot on. None of that crap that makes me want to gouge out my ear drums. The music just fades into the background. So what else, hmmmmm. Food. Yes, the food is great. Think bar food with a creative twist. It will entice the foodies, without driving away the bar food-types. Coca-cola and beer boiled peanuts and a personal favorite of mine as well as the sesame chicken lolipops. Both great appetizer options to keep you drinking. But my go-to is the Plancha Burger. Trust me on this, folks. It’s a double stack with American cheese(I know, but the trust), house made pickles, and caramelized onions all on a Holeman & Finch bun. If you want, they will add bacon(DOIT), but otherwise they will NOT customize this burger. They bring it out on a cutting board with a side of fries and I strong recommend you get a dipper sauce. Personally, for the fries, get the Buttermilk Parm. You will thank me. If you feel especially decadent, also get some Yum Sauce. You’re welcome. The staff is pretty friendly and always open to suggestions, especially if you aren’t sure what drink to order. They have been well-trained and know how to direct you. You can order late, but the kitchen stops serving at 11pm during the week, midnight on Friday and Saturday. However, they keep the pizza oven hot til 2am. So a great late not stop if you are hungry for something other than Cook-Out grease. Come for the beer, stay for the food. But do not expect to get a Natty Lite or Coors here — this is not the bar you’re looking for.

The décor here is really cool and comfortable. It’s like a big living room. I was less impressed with the food. I had the grilled romaine salad and it wasn’t what I was expecting at all. It’s a stalk of romaine, so half or about a third is inedible. If it were all edible this would probably be enough for a dinner portion but as it is, I had to order the sesame chicken lollipops. These were ok but nothing really memorable. Overall I liked the décor and it seems like a cool place locals hang out, but I probably wouldn’t eat here again.

«is this a late lunch or a predinner snack?» what i ate: — fries: deliously fried. crispy. perfect bar snack. — white whale pizza: wasnt expecting much, but was totally wowed. the saltiness from the sardines were balanced by the tart fried lemon slices. i think i could have eaten the whole thing by myself pros: — food was great! — beer selection — AMAZING — décor: sooooo fun and a delight to be around. the mix of woods and metals, etc was perfect — larrrrrrrrrge space. great spot to meet up with friends. i was told that there is even a back space that has a bowling alley and another bar. the bar area itself was impressive with plenty of seating all around, and what looked like a balcony area — staff was friendly — bathrooms were clean cons: — apparently parking can be an issue depending on what time you come. we hit the weird too early for dinner, too late for lunch timing, and were able to score parking in the lot, but apparently this is a rarity. just be forewarned. would i come again? yes!

Went for brunch today and the place couldn’t have been emptier! I had the gravlax platter. Hmmm… it was definitely mediocre. No dressing on the arugula, plain everything bagel and an excellently scrambled egg that was pretty much useless. This platter needs something to glue it all together for real. My boo had the Mexican inspired brunch dish with pulled pork and that was BOMB! I also had the special bbq bloody mary which was also BOMB! But my drink was served in a glass that had a smear of pink lipstick on it that I didn’t notice til I was halfway thru my drink. Welp, there goes that! I’ll try again tho, Love, Nicole from

Deinitely a hipster paradise(but in the best way). The streets around this spot are full of artistic murals(not graffiti). The restaurant has a great outdoor space and open air feel with high ceilings. Be careful about sitting right near the street. We were approached 3 different times by men asking for money and the last one took our leftovers. Not a huge deal, just a little awkward when you’re on a date or in the middle of a good conversation. We shared the Admiral Pizza and it was pretty good! The crust was thin and get a little soggy but overall delicious. Our waitress was super friendly and we didn’t feel out of place in the hipster vibe. It was great to be eating right in the middle of a cool art scene.

I recently visited some friends in Atlanta and had requested that we go to a solid Burger joint. Argosy was their spot and it didn’t disappoint. I was in town for a card tournament and the night we went was to both refill after a long day and celebrate some victories. Walking into Argosy on a Saturday night around 8pm we were greeted to a live atmosphere with lots of conversation in the air and great mood lightning /music. The place felt like it was hopping and we were able to snag a table in their outdoor-ish section(patio but enclosed). This was perfect because while we appreciated the liveliness of the inside area, it was a bit heavy on the noise and we wanted to talk. I really like that they had some separation so you could go with the flow depending on your disposition. The menu is fantastic. Everything sounded mouthwatering, and the dishes brought to the tables around us appeared to live up to the descriptions. I like that there was both good variety but also succinctness so that you weren’t sitting there forever feeling overwhelmed at a new place. I was leaning towards ordering either the Wood Fired Pizza which was sitting on a table next to us making me drool, or the unique Fried Chicken. My friend insisted that I don’t miss out on their Plancha Burger though so I went with the tradition. Very tasty, reminded me of the Juicy Lucy burgers up in Minneapolis, just a bit of that dive bar classic taste fresh off the grill. Greasy and Cheesy but not sloppy, with addictive fries and a sweet cutting board to eat everything on. We had some local Atlanta beer and I was impressed by their extensive beer menu, as well as an acceptable shot selection for our celebration. Prices were about what you’d expect in the downtown of a big city, $ 10 – 15 entrees and $ 5 – 10 drinks. Certainly not an everyday spot but agreeable. Our waiter was reasonable, but could have been a little more attentive and a little more pleasant. We felt like he was kind of going through the motions, but it wasn’t too bad and he took care of everything we needed. Overall I was happy with the food and the visit and would return again next time I’m in Atlanta

Yum! Why did I wait so long to come to this place? The space is huge with lots of seating for big groups at long tables, a large bar, and plenty of nooks with sofas to hide away in. I love the décor with the vaguely nautical feel — it’s cool without trying to hard. The service has been a little slow, but super friendly and able to make suggestions from the voluminous craft beer list as well as the tempting menu. I also appreciate that they’re able to split checks for groups. If you’re a beer person, you’ll love it here. But cocktail and cider afficionados won’t walk away disappointed here either– plenty for all to enjoy. And the food is really quite phenomenal. It’s far above your typical bar food. I recommend the mac and cheese off of the appetizer section; there’s a reason it’s been on the menu since they opened. The boiled peanuts are unique –they’re boiled in a mixture of beer and coca cola, which takes on the taste of a sweet barbecue sauce. If you’re not super hungry, their hotdogs are a good choice for your main. They’re on the petite side, but made in house and come tipped with creative sauce and cheese combos, and accompanied with a small serving of fries. It’s quite the value for just $ 5. And save room for dessert! The salted caramel blondie is served slightly warm and topped with a big scoop of vanilla ice cream and tons of salty caramel sauce. It’s delicious and worth the calories.

High expectations for this bar/restaurant were met! I only wish this place weren’t so far away from me. Excellent space to hang out where it doesn’t feel too claustrophobic and it seems they put a lot of thought into decorating the space. I really like the back room because it’s got the high ceilings, Skee-ball, shuffleboard, and that one booth that makes you feel like you’re inside a tree. Oh, and there’s another bar in the back so you don’t have to walk all the way to the front to get a drink. Oh, and the patio in the front was surprisingly comfortable even on a hot day. There’s enough air circulation and most of it is covered. Pros: — Decent drink menu with lots of craft beers — Some good food too(more later) — Lots of seating — Amazing decorated space Cons: — Parking, but this is true for anything in EAV Things we ate… Fries with Yum Sauce: Love the yum sauce. It’s got a bit of soy, but it’s garlicky and creamy. The fries were crispy and not too oversalted. I really wanted another order of this. Plancha Burger: This burger is alright and will satisfy a cheeseburger craving. Broccolini: This is a side order where it’s cooked to the point of being crispy and still flavorful with chili flakes. I would get this again. Mac n Cheese: This seemed to be under-seasoned. Pork Belly app: This was a small piece, but it’s a juicy, fatty cut. It’s delicious, but not memorable.

I like Argosy. I think it’s a cool space. The interior is mighty rad. Like everyone else has said, it’s beautiful. It’s sexy. And they know it along with everyone else. Pros: –Awesome beer selection that is constantly changing. –Lots of seating. Inside and outside. –Huge bar. –Atmosphere. Cons: –Not child friendly. –Sometimes the food is under seasoned. –Can be a tad pretentious. It’s hilarious to me that there’s a variety of different people that go to Argosy. This includes families. BUT, they don’t have high chairs or a kids menu. They do have booster seats that suck(no straps), which I guess is okay, but most young children need restraints because they are constantly trying to get up and run around. Is this a tactic to try to defer families? Food is alright to me. Sometimes underwhelming though. My first visit I got the Spicy Popcorn as an appetizer, very good. And my entre was the Fried Catfish Sandwich. It was a tad bland. It needed some more seasoning in the breading and some lemon juice to brighten it up. And the second time I got the Cuban with Sesame Kale. Cuban was good, just needed a little more of the mustard. And the Sesame Kale Salad left a lot to be desired. Service was alright. Both times a little douchy. Sometimes slow. But, overall not bad. I think Argosy is good for a night at the bar. But, that’s probably what they’re looking for. But, that’s a shame because they would be better if they made it slightly more family friendly… and over all friendlier.

So I visited Argosy because it was part of a bachelorette party itinerary. At first I was concerned about them accommodating our large party but that was no problem, as they gave us the entire second floor to sit on. We noshed on some delicious appetizers while the restaurant patrons glady participated along in our party shenanigans. I had the Plancha burger, which people have likened to be similar to the H&F burger. While good and kind of close, it’s not the same. But it was a good burger. I also tried the asiago mac and cheese and the sweet potato chips that are made in house. They were very delish! I’m going to assume it wasn’t known in advance that this place isn’t your typical bar-they are more about their beer than the other liquor so don’t come here thinking you can get a girly frou-frou drink(one of my friends asked for an apple martini and got her feelings hurt lol). They can make the basics though. All in all this was a good visit. I can see myself coming here again.
