My wife and I have tried almost every dish on the menu since discovering 10DS two years ago, and every bite has been delicious. Highly recommend for a special meal or just drop by the bar any evening(frequent live music).

Customer service was on point! Everyone was so nice and courteous. From the valet service to the waitress to the bartenders. Oh and I can’t forget very accommodating lol my girls and I changed our reservations like three times and they didn’t make it a big deal at all. The live entertainment was delightful as well. I would definitely recommend this place! My first but not my last visit.

Food is always good, although prices are a little high in my opinion for sides of rice or potato. Note: they are checking EVERYOne’s IDs to serve alcohol… luckily I brought my purse to show i was born in 1969. I was annoyed I won’t lie

I am entirely unfamiliar with South African food, so this was an interesting place to try. In short, the food was good, and about as much as one would expect to pay for dinner in the area. The experience was way below expectation. Two things that really turned me off to the restaurant, and why we won’t go back: 1) The tables are very, very close together. When my wife and I go out to dinner, we expect to have space to have a conversation. The tables were spaced so closely together in a row that in order to fit between them, one had to turn sideways and slide between tables, and we still bumped the other table’s glassware. In a row of 7 – 8 two-seat tables sharing a common bench/booth, the staff seated couples directly next to each other even when the restaurant was not very busy. As a result, the couples on either side of us heard every word my wife and I said, just as we heard two other couple’s every word as well. For this reason alone, we won’t go back. Because of this experience, if I see another restaurant like that in the future, I will decline to be seated and leave; it isn’t worth it. 2) The hostess, when we arrived, spoke on and on about how we looked like William and Kate walking in to the restaurant and how she couldn’t move her eyes away from us. It felt awkward and silly then. It felt rude when she loudly said the same thing to every younger couple that walked in. I’d simply prefer not to feel like the target of some elaborate staff inside joke when I arrive to eat a meal.

10 Degrees South became an instant favorite during Buckhead Restaurant Week a couple of years ago! The ambiance, service, live music, wine, and food are all superb! Since visiting South Africa I have wanted to find a restaurant here in Atlanta that serves South African inspired cuisine and this is it! The food is so delicious. Appetizers: The prawns that come with a lemon butter sauce is a must try. The peri-peri spring rolls are pretty decent. The lamb chops are very good and cooked perfectly. The boerswors sandwich is pretty good but just tastes like a bratsworth sausage to me. Main dishes: rack of lamb are great. The beef boboti is one of my favorites! It’s a sweet dish but the spices and ingredients balance out very well. It’s different but it’s so scrumptious! Prawns are great choice once again. The Cape Kingklip fish is divine! I don’t even eat fish but the meat is very mild and seasoned so well! Not to mention most of the dishes come with the white and yellow basmati rice that I love. The food is really sensational. You also have to try the drinks and wine selection! The service is impeccable! They have live music which is really nice. The ambiance is dim and intimate which makes great for a date night but also is a place for a great time with friends. I really enjoy 10 Degrees South! It’s always a great experience. I keep returning to try different dishes. Next up is the rib eye!

Service is absolutely amazing. Food was really good, but not mind blowing(for me). I suggest the lamb and bobotie rolls. As much as I wanted to love the chicken curry, something about the flavors didn’t work well for me and I ended up with a very strange(unpleasant) after taste in my mouth. However, the lamb was cooked to perfection and it was a stunning dish.

I honestly wasn’t blown away with the food. Lobster spring rolls were good, chicken curry was good but just that. good. The service was just ok. Our waiter was not fast enough and we waited for 10 minutes at a time to receive wine, dessert, bill. For the cost I expected more.

Winner all the way around! Great food and great service. We were greeted by the entire staff at the front door. It was so impressive. I’ve never seen anything quite like it, except at a sorority rush party. Love this place!!! BigG thumbs up!

I dined here last night for my sister in laws birthday! A quick review: Nice Atmosphere; You can dress up or arrive casual; Food was alright but I would go again for drinks and appetizers! The atmosphere was calm and refreshing. We sat in the bar area while we waited for the rest of our group to arrive. Our favorite cocktail was the Lychee Martini. This cocktail had a fruity flavor that was not overly sweet. The fruit(Lychee) is native to South Africa so it was nice trying something new. We also shared lobster spring rolls as a starter.(The lobster rolls were great and I spotted many other tables starting with the same dish.) There was live music in the bar area that added to the experience. It was too bad we could not hear the music throughout the rest of the restaurant. Our server was very nice and informative. Out of all our entrees, the lamb was the best. I ordered a South African white fish topped with lemon butter sauce, rice and squash. The squashed had the most flavor out of everything on my plate. They were seasoned similar to sweet potatoes with cinnamon, maybe nutmeg, and a little sugar.(It was great!) My lemon butter sauce lacked flavor and tasted as though it was missing something.(BUMMER) I would return for drinks and appetizers! This restaurant is a unique gem!

Great dining experience. Food was awesome and service was impeccable. Eric, our server was very knowledgable about the food, its preparation, and excellent wine pairings. My only complaint was the chairs. They were a little too soft with a reclined feeling to them. It took a lot of effort to stay upright during dinner.

This place was really nice I loved the setting I chose this place for my birthday and my Mother and I went last night. I had a good time everyone that works there even the Valet was really nice. Now my appetizer was SOOOO good and not to mention the entrees were to die I had ate a couple of bites then, it was over for me I had to take it home… lol I and as well as my mom were stuffed… BUT I had gotten a Birthday Flan that was my first and last time having that it was beyond disgusting but hey some people like and so people dont. But other then that I had a really good time at 10 Degrees South it was easy to find as well.

Wow! This was place was fun. Pretty hard to find anything wrong with this place. It’s right off Roswell and easy to get to. Parking is valet, we took Über. We had a 7:45 reservation on OpenTable on a Friday night and arrived a little early. Very friendly hostess seated us immediately. Our waiter(Eric) arrived shortly, and was very helpful explaining the wine list. Even though we didn’t ask for it, he gave us a taste test of a peculiar kind of white/red blend. It tasted weird, so he suggested another great bottle. Always nice when the waiter knows the wine well. By this point, shortly after 8, people were streaming into this place like crazy. Live music was setting up in the bar area, which we didn’t check out this time, but won’t miss next time. Got a couple of amazing appetizers: the beef bobotie spring rolls and the prawns. I annihilated the beef bobotie spring rolls in about two minutes. They come pointing into a delicious little scoop of mashed potato covered in some sort of apricot sauce. My wife couldn’t stop raving about the prawns which I tasted and were delicious. For entrees, we went with the ostrich medallions and cape kingklip. Ostrich was tender, not gamey at all, and delicious. Second time I’ve had ostrich and it didn’t disappoint. I’m also a sucker for anything that comes with/on mashed potatoes. My wife loved the kingklip which was in a slightly spicy and flavorful sauce. Big portions, too. Because of those big portions and a kind of limited dessert menu we passed on that. But next time we will try some of the dessert drinks which sounded good. This place is not cheap, but it’s great food and it fully justifies the price. If you come here as a couple and get a couple of appetizers, two entrees and a bottle of wine, expect it to run around $ 150 with tip. Will definitely return!

This is now one of my top favorite restaurants. This restaurant was featured on Atlanta Eats. I was visually hooked. Went for my weekend birthday dinner and then the taste buds were hooked. Oh my. This restaurant hits all of your senses. Visually beautiful. Don’t miss looking at the golden rhinos. Valet service is great. It was raining and the valets were quick to retrieve umbrellas and cover everyone as they walked in. You don’t see that too often but quite classy and impressive! Once you are in, some well dressed hostesses who need to share their make up tips with me will seat you immediately.(highly recommend reservations). Drinks– We started off with drinks. I had the Lychee Martini. It was a backup as the server mentioned they were out of their other drink I wanted to try. I was most happy with the Lychee. It’s fruity and very tasty. You will almost forget it’s alcohol. Salad and Appetizer Next we had salads and the garlic rolls. Someone recommended we try the rolls. Again… not sorry. Their rolls were better than what you get at some true Italian restaurants. Very soft and buttery. There are other types of «rolls» which are more spring rolls which I hope to try in the future. I tried the safari salad. It’s field mixed greens with fresh fruit. Trust me it’s really fresh. It’s then topped with their papaya dressing. I wanted seconds! It was that good. Not overly citrisy by any means. What’s nice is there is not a need to ask for more dressing. You don’t necessarily see it but 1 bite and you know it’s there. Overall 10 degrees has an appetizer menu you should not skip! Entrée– I had the chicken curry. This may scare some people away but this was not spicy at all… which is a good thing. I often think people who are not regular curry eaters are afraid it will overwhelm any dish. Not the case here. The dish is a blend of curry and other South African spices and herbs(I don’t know what they were but trust me they are blended well)). It comes with sambals which is the South African equivalent to bananas and perhaps sweet potatoes that were created as a sauce with the chicken which is cut up. You are also given yellow and white basamti rice. Serving is just right. The rice was tender and did not need any additional butter or sauce. Don’t you dare ask for it either. You will spoil the dish! Overall this is a comfort dish in my book where it can stick to your ribs but not make you feel stuffed. Good blend of savory and sweet. Dessert– Ok it was my birthday so we had to try something. We opted for the server’s recommendation of Di’s sponge cake served warm and moist along with a scope of ice cream. There was no singing, candles or a funny hat to put on. Maybe because we did not tell the server it was my birthday or… which is more truthful, this is a sophisticated restaurant that simply does not have a need to do that! THANKYOU! The sponge cake is cut more like a brownie. Definitely shareable for two people. If there are more of you then get two pieces! I am not sure what the soak was but definitely something light and not sticky sweet. If the coffee we ordered had come with the cake I am sure I would have taken a piece to just dip in it to enhance the experience even more. We probably would have been there even longer. Overall– I highly recommend this place for date night, girls night or as a place to show off to out of town guests/friends. Their menu has something for everyone… except may be kids. I am not sure if they have a kids menu. This place does not strike me as one where you would take kids under the age of 12. Call to check. We did see one family enter but they were the only ones. Great wine list is available too. Hubby enjoyed his dish. Did not mention what he had because I was focused on me. It was MY birthday so of course it was alllll about me! Geez! There is a huge bar in the back where the night we were there they had live entertainment. We sat up front in the all white window room. I could hear the live music just a smidge but enjoyed the soft jazz type music being played in our area. Bottom line 10 degrees is worth your time and money!

I was in town on business for the AirWatch Connect 2015 conference. Easily one of the lamest events I’ve ever had to endure. Thank goodness I was in a real city with fancy restaurants. A «real city» is one where things happen. A real city has a professional sports team, fancy cuisine, and inane I.T. conferences. I had the great fortune to attend a lovely dinner at 10 degrees south. They specialize in South African cuisine, specifically their flagship entrée: ostrich medallions. There are a host of other dishes but this was the one. I was greatly looking forward to trying ostrich. Parking is handled by their valet person. The inside décor is quite lovely. It felt like a South African vibe complete with golden Rhino heads on the wall. The table setting was posh and elegant. Our waiter was well versed regarding the menu and politely encouraged us to try the ostrich. I think the best part was that he didn’t ask me how I take my ostrich. The cooking temperature was not asked of me because you’re going to eat it the way the chef intends for you to enjoy it. I absolutely love this. What arrived was a perfectly cooked, decedent, medium-rare, pre-sliced arrangement of ostrich medallions. It was magnificent. The ostrich was perfectly seasoned with rosemary, perfectly cooked, and overall flawless. If I had to pick on something it would be the lack of a green vegetable. The ostrich comes on top of a creamy bed of whipped potatoes and a side of sweet potatoes. You eat with your eyes first and I think just a small green vegetable would visually set off the entrée even more, Now granted, it did come with a lovely green leaf on top to pass the color requirement. I’ll be honest, what really goes with ostrich? It’s presented like a steak, so I naturally think maybe two modest pieces of asparagus? It really doesn’t matter because the ostrich is perfect. It’s not covered in a mushroom sauce or some other cheap trick. It’s cooked so masterfully that it stands alone. The perfection doesn’t stop there though; even though the sweet potatoes are on the sideline they too are cooked perfectly. The sweet potato comes in cubes, and dare I say almost under-cooked? I actually prefer it this way instead of a pile or orange mush. Suffice it to say, this meal was flawless. If I ever visit Atlanta again, I will without a doubt, attend 10 degrees south.

Upscale South African restaurant that serves amazing platters of meat and seafood. Nicely decorated, good service, and an all around great time. If you’ve never had African food this is a good introduction. Not the mush they serve at Ethiopian places. A lot more accessible. I had the best red wine I’ve ever had here(Barista). If you like coffee, get it! The grapes are grown in an old coffee field so you can taste the notes.

This is an upscale South African restaurant. Nicely decorated. Dressy. Staff was nice and helpful in describing the dishes. Make reservations if going on a weekend. Definitely $$$. Food was very good. I would recommend getting a few of the appetizers to start with and see what you like because most of the entrees are just bigger portions of some of the appetizers.

We have been going her for a few years now. We can’t say enough wonderful things about them. Loved how the renovated the interior most recently and gave it a new look. Staff is amazing and have no complaints. Enjoy the fact that they do live music for both Friday and Saturday nights. They have a back bar and covered patio which we usually choose to sit at. During the summer there are fans and then during the winter there are heaters. Excellent food. I recommend the Peri peri chicken Spring rolls and grilled calamari. Lychee martini is sweet but good!

My review is based on discrepancies between different menu items & what the menu states vs what I actually got. We came here for a friend’s birthday, it was fairly busy on a Saturday night. The reservation was at 8:30 but we weren’t sat until almost 9pm. Regardless of the wait, our waiter came soon after we were sat & he was very friendly. Our group of 12 ordered different items & one of my issues was the portion size varied so much between the items. The mussels served as an appetizer could have been a full meal vs the sosoties or the shrimp which didn’t seem to be enough for an entrée. I ordered the peri peri chicken. I loved the chicken a lot but it was served with rice & butternut squash & it just felt disjointed. The menu stated that it would come with vegetables, not specifically smushed up, bland butternut squash which tasted sweet compared to the chicken, it just didn’t go with the peri peri sauce & chicken. Also for the price, the food was portioned much smaller & was not as tasty as I would have expected. Overall, I wasn’t very impressed.

This is a South African Restaurant. I’d never had South African food, so it was an adventure for me! From the outside, this place doesn’t look like anything special. They have mandatory Valet Parking, so bring a little tip money. Inside, the restaurant is really nice. there’s a front seating area with lots of windows, but the further back you go, the darker and cozier this place gets. There’s a bar in the very back, and to the right on the way back there, there’s a room with a bunch of upholstered chairs. I ordered the Beef Boboti, and my friends had the special — a sea bass with shrimp and sweet potatoes. Mine was good, but I think the fish was even better. The presentation was beautiful, and our server was very attentive. We ordered the molten lava cake to share, and it was also very good, though I’m not sure what it had to do with the otherwise South African theme. Overall, I’m giving this place four stars. I would definitely like to go back again.
