This review is for after hour emergency services…
I’m very glad to hear so many wonderful reviews of how this clinic has helped many of its patients. As an animal advocate, I appreciate that many feel they received a positive experience. But I must be honest in my interactions with the after hours clinic.
$ 163 to keep us standing outside for over an hour in the middle of the night in almost 100 degree weather because they were afraid our dog had canine influenza when it turned out to be a heart condition? Quoted over $ 500 for antibiotics and shots that wouldn’t have worked since her condition was unrelated? Plus hundreds if not thousands to quarantine while ‘they figured it out’? The staff was very nice, even if it appeared that they did forget about us for a while since we were locked outside the building, but I was completely dissatisfied with the experience. Not to mention it did nothing to help my dog’s condition. With that extremely ‘high tech’ facility, there was no where else to keep us except out in the heat and mosquitoes?
It broke my heart to leave and wait the 8 hours til my regular vet opened but I did it because we, unfortunately, don’t have that kind of money to spend. Luckily, our regular vet found the issue within seconds of examination and less than $ 100 later (including the visit!) we have a happier dog as well as all the medications to keep her that way.
While these services might be feasible for many in the Athens area, I will not be using them again.

Great place. New address is 2200 college station rd; the 501 dw brooks dr is incorrect. Emergency services are open 24 – 7. The new building is state of the art.

Our sweet, faithful, watchful, loyal «SULLY» who made our home and lives richer for 8 years, crossed over the Rainbow Bridge on Dec. 19, 2014. We gave him the very best care through East Atlanta Animal Clinic and the UGA Veterinary Teaching Hospital. Sully fought hard against the cancer, but yesterday he let us know that he was tired of fighting. He died peacefully in the comfort of our arms with in-​home euthanasia administered by Dr. Lauren Cassady of «Lap of Love». Sully was a GOOD boy! Bella is now going to the behaviorist at UGA’s Community Practice Clinic, which is a part of the vet school. The behaviorist is also a veterinarian so you get the best of both worlds.
To see the behaviorist, Dr. Moesta, you need a vet referral. Generally there is a 2 week or so wait for appointments. Once you make the appointment you have to fill out a 24 page behavior history that is extremely detailed. This has to be sent to the vet before your appointment so that the behavior group can be prepared for your case.
The main appointment itself will last anywhere from 2 – 4 hours. You go into a room where Dr. Moesta and at least 2 vet school students go over your behavior history. They take a short break, then come back in to discuss treatment options and behavioral training. Dr. Moesta is an expert in how different medications help with training and can prescribe them since she is a practicing vet. She may offer them for your pet or she may not depending on the severity of behavior etc.
After the appointment the behavior group will email you an in-​depth report on what actions need to be taken with your dog in order for your dogs behavior to improve. This is your main responsibility. to work with your dog using the techniques they give you. They expect weekly reports and will change the training up if something isn’t working. I have had to email Dr. Moesta almost daily the past couple of weeks due to my dogs separation anxiety issues and they have been very helpful in getting Bella to a better place behaviorally. While we are still working out different medication combos to keep her calmed down so I can actually work with her I am glad I have Dr. Moesta and her team to work with. They make me feel like someone is there with me and that I am not in this alone.

I have taken my dogs here for cardiology services, oncology, and general surgery. It;s a great place. The people who work here love what they do. The treatments are great, and the prices are reasonable. When you take your pet here you not only get the best treatment for your pet, you also are training the next generation of veterinarians. Recommended!
