I remember this place when it was called The Tavern over 40 years ago. Back then(for a time) it was owned by a guy named Jim Anastis. I also remember when it was called The Greenery too. But that just means I’m old. The interior has been completely remodeled. It’s pretty much all college kids now. The focus seems to be the pool tables which are always occupied. Im writing a review because this is BYFAR the cleanest bar in Athens. If you appreciate bleach and pinesol like I do, you’ll love this place. Nice owners who run a clean bar. I hear they may be bringing food back.

I wasn’t to sure of this place when it opened… always felt like it had a bit of an identity crisis, which in Athens can break you. However, recently the Over Hang and its crowd has become a little«edgier,» seems to be the new place for the neo-hippies of Athens to congregate to sip on their $ 1.50 PBRs and get lost in likely the cheapest well drinks in town. Vibe in this place is off the charts. Definitely see potential in this bar if the trend continues.

This place is alright. Never had the food but decent service. Wish the music wasn’t so loud.

Best Bloody Mary’s in town but at night on the weekends the music is much too loud – service almost makes for it though.

As new places go, this one could go either way. Clean, sharp and trendy, it’s a classy joint for a college town, but has a comfortable casualness that’s accessible. The fish sandwich was impressive but the«loaded» nachos and cubes-of-buffalo-chicken salad were lame. They need to crank up their fare to match their décor. Good beer selection and TVs all around. Looks like they have a live band setup too.

This is a great addition in an old location. The mood is great for food, drinks, and music. The burger was good, but the Bloody Mary was even better. It was fantastically crafted in the Cajun style– complete with pickled-okra garnish. I look forward to trying their brunch and their take on chicken and waffles.
