This place is okay. The house salad is good(dark lettuce, cucumbers, the good stuff, etc.) and the wings aren’t comparable to wings in Texas, but they’re the best in Athens besides Wings Over. The buffalo chicken salad basically combines the two best things. It gets really crowded on the weekends like everywhere else, just don’t sit by the bar bc drunk a-holes love to yell. Lots of TVs. Bathrooms are often dirty. Wait staff is sometimes rude, but recently I found a piece of plastic in my house salad(I know) and the waitress was apologetic and gave us the bigger salad my mom got for free bc it was more expensive than mine. I wish they had more vegetarian options, and this might be ridiculous to even consider, but vegan options… at all… would be amazing.

What a great place to enjoy a game with a beer. The food is of good quality and haven’t had anything bad yet. Had subs and the pizza sub taste like the ones of my childhood in Ohio when those things were big. Recommend a visit

Huge menu, plenty of selections and staff was very friendly. Food I felt was pretty pedestrian. Onion rings looked food supplier bought. Fried pickles were OK, garlic parm and teriyaki boneless wings were nothing special. Some items are claimed to be homemade and they may or may not have a smoker on site… our waitress didn’t know. Was hoping for more, and I would try it again before deciding not to come back for good.

It reminds me of Roosters in Columbus. I’ve discovered that they have a location in Dublin which we definitely have to visit! The wings were good, cheesy fries and onion rings were also tasty. Food didn’t take long to come out either. Overall, above average bar food.

It’s not«gourmet», and it won’t change your life, but I think it’s the most underrated place s to eat in Athens. Menu is huge. Great variety for family. Kids meals are priced great. A bunch of beers on tap and reasonably priced. Service has always been outstanding. I give 5 stars because Shade excels at what it is. There are other places in the area that have excellent food and atmospheres, but Shade is a no nonsense place to eat with good service and reasonably priced food.

We’ve been here twice now and the food is pretty good if you are in the mood for bar food. Our last visit wasn’t stellar(food seemed to have vanished and when it finally came out, two orders were messed up) but our server made it right. Great place if you are in the mood for wings and, quite frankly, anything else like burgers, sandwiches and pizza.

Shade on East State continues to show improvement in the food business! We have eaten here at least 10 times over the past 5 years, and would recommend the facility for several reasons. Recently, we sampled several«snacks» and found them excellent. the Artichoke Parmesan dip was served perfectly(slight char) and very crisp, fresh, lightly salted dipping chips, much fresher and crisper than previous visits. The salads were very fresh, properly served with dressing on the side, ingredients nicely mixed. Having never tried the wings, we sampled the boneless with the Island sauce – scrumptious:seared on the outside, very moist and juicy on the inside, lovely dipping sauce. Great selection of beers, tremendous variety of sandwiches(try the Cuban, the Philly Steak, the 9 iron, or the Pulled Pork), and the fries are also excellent. Service can be spotty or excellent, depending upon your luck – we had an excellent server, Courtney, who was spot-on with timing, delivery and over-all goo-naturedness on a very busy March Madness Saturday. Parking lot is repaved but poor configuration. Have never tried their pizzas, only because we have Avalanche in town!

The 25 wing special can be ordered with 5 sauces. You can specify naked wings and just drums. The sauces are very hot! Best place for wings.

I last wrote a review in 2012. Since then, they’ve specifically fixed my two top complaints. Yay! The parking lot was recently redone, over summer of 2014 I believe. It is much easier to park in the front now, as it was done professionally. The wait staff now hang out toward the back at one of the tables, instead of giving an unfriendly glare from the hostess stand as they used to. Nice! And the wait staff is proactive, but still friendly and cool, which is a huge improvement. Much more professional than before. The menu is the same as it was before. A little overwhelming, and could use some pruning, but most items on it are worth getting. Overall, I’d say give it a go! Worth eating there.

Hands down best sit-down restaurant in Athens. Even though it is quite long, their menu has an option for literally any taste you have, whether its burgers, wings, salads, wraps, quesadillas, you name it. Possibly the best item on the menu is their tradition wings. I’ve never tried the boneless, but their bone-in are the biggest and meatest wings I’ve ever had. Very cheap in price, excellent service, quality atmosphere, and VERYCLEAN bathrooms!

Great wings. They are what Roosters used to be before they got too big. I had the hot traditional wings and fries. Wings were big meaty with plenty of sauce. Fries were natural cut with a good portion. Great selection of draft ever as well

Typical bar food I thought the size of the sandwiches was small. You will need a side dish to be satisfied. Had the parm chicken; just ok.

It was good, I had the cheesy fries with spicy cheese(it’s not really spicy though :/) and I added the chili and sour cream. The fries were hand cut which made them awesome. I also had the chicken quesadilla, the chicken and the vegetables were great, but the tortilla sucked because the let the bottom get soggy and gross. I didn’t like the tortilla at all. But the chicken and vegetable were great.

I absolutely love this place! The boneless wings and the gobbler sub are fantastic. I also love the giant fresh-baked cookie and ice cream for dessert. I eat here at least once, if not multiple times a week. I used to be a BW-3’s fan, but now I rarely eat there. Leghorns has way better service than the BW-3 in Athens and better wings.

If you get the traditional wings, I’d give it a 3 or 4 star. The potato crisp appatizer is also delicious. Boneless wings are bad. REALLY bad. The menu is huge, but as Gordon Ramsay would say, «They’re just trying to do to much. Keep it SIMPLE, do what you do best!» The waitresses are awful. There’s one good waitress there, and luckily we’ve gotten her most of the time, but the other girls just stand there and do nothing while the one girl waits on all the tables. They also have this Hooters-esque(but less flattering) uniforms. Kind of tacky on the inside. Seating is dreadful. Some chairs are a million feet tall, and all the tables are just clumped together in an awkward way. It’s sad, because it’s based on the Roosters restaurants in Cincinnati(owner is related to the Roosters guys), but it’s like a bad Roosters knock off. I don’t go there often, especially with such better restaurants in town.

Been here twice and enjoyed it both times. Gets pretty crowded on weekends, so be prepared for a(reasonable) wait. Tons of items on the menu. Pretty difficult to not find something you like to eat at Leghorn’s.

We visited here on a Sunday at about 1 pm. The place was fairly deserted, and the hostess told us to sit where we liked. It was a hard choice, since the tables are so packed together it’s hard to maneuver between them, but we finally found something that seemed like a good location. And then we sat there. And waited. And waited. And waited. After about 10 – 15 minutes, a waitress finally approached us and said, «Sorry, I didn’t see you guys sitting there.» So we finally got our menus and saw that you have to buy sandwiches and sides separately. We decided to each get a sandwich and split an order of fries. We ordered the sour cream fries from the appetizer section, which were quite expensive so seemed like it would be a good-sized serving. Imagine our surprise when we got our food and it was one tiny bowl of sour cream fries with about four wedges in it for each of us. Guess we should have ordered the regular fries we saw everyone else eating, which are much cheaper but come heaped on a giant platter! Neither of us had any complaints about our food, but it was quite pricey for what we got, and we didn’t enjoy the atmosphere(too crowded even when the place is empty) or the service. We won’t be coming back here again.
