So they don’t specialize in 18 year old scotch… or wine. And I love this place. For your everyday liquor store needs, they nail it. The staff if friendly, helpful, and they always remember regulars. No matter the party or mood, Perry’s on North Ave has what you want on the shelf. And to get there, you get to use a round-about!

Good selection of white/witte beers which is difficult to find in a town dominated by IPA& hoppy beers. Decent selection of stouts too. Friendly folks working the front. Will definitely be back again(and again).

Apparently Mr. Perry thinks ALL beer is good aged, which certainly isn’t the case. Although I would recommend against buying beer here simply because of the higher prices and lower selection over other establishments, if you DO buy beer here, please check the ‘best by’ date. I’ve seen beers 6+ months past their ‘best by’ date at this store. And despite what he’ll try to tell you, most beers taste noticeably different after this date. Especially several months after it.

I lived just down the street from Perry’s for the last year that I lived in Athens. As most Athens residents will attest, most of the neighborhood liquor stores are not so well stocked and/or sketchy. Generally, they’re for last minute emergencies only. While Perry’s does not measure up to the ABC, it is much nicer and has a much better selection that most other liquor stores in Athens. Given the severe lack of liquor stores in the downtown/north Athens area, Perry’s is a godsend. The interior is clean and nice and the staff is friendly and accommodating– If they don’t stock a particular item, they’ll be happy to order it for you, especially if they recognize you as a regular. So all you Downtown/Bridgewater/Retreat/Campus Lodge Residents, give Perry’s a try if you don’t already know the glory!
