Michelle just rocked my hair! I haven’t had a cut I was loving since I lived in Chicago and was paying $ 150.
Specifically, I took her past the shoulder overgrown layers with no movement. I left with movement, body in the crown, perfect length face framing pieces. I most often wear big hot rolled hair and up-​dos. I can’t wait to play with this great work she did.

I can’t even put into words how happy I am with this salon. I came in hoping to achieve my NATURAL red hair color again. I was so nervous and as soon as Kasey introduced herself all nerves were gone! I’m speechless as to how well my hair turned out. I told her EXACTLY what I wanted and it happened!!! I’ve seen about 8 different stylist around Texas and Georgia within three years and hands down Kasey Lowe is the best. My hair is back to its natural color and I couldn’t be happier.

I recommend Nathan for anyone with longer hair! I went to a few other salons/​stylists in town, but Nathan’s haircut was hands down the best haircut I had, while living in Athens! He’s also super chill and nice and gives good advice for styling.

Great salon! I saw Elyse for the first time today. The right combination of personable and professional from the start. After listening to where I’d been, where I currently was, and where I wanted to go with my tesses, Elyse accessed the situation, made some honest observations, then enthusiastically suggested a cut that took into account the goal while addressing some problems. After giving my hair some much needed conditioning TLC, she expertly worked razor cutting magic that resulted in a fun, choppy look that is age appropriate without being DULL. Best cut I’ve had since moving to GA last summer. Thanks Elyse! While I was in the chair, I noticed some great hair colors walking out the door on other patrons as well. One young woman with gobs of long, long hair was rocking a fantastic shade of red that Elyse had worked on for 3 hours prior to my arrival… guys, I am telling you this chick had tons of hair and Elyse did an amazing job. Another young lady had some of the best ombré color I’ve seen which another stylist had created. The place was very hip, the staff seemed funky and fun, and there were a lot of really wonderful hair styles in various stages walking around. If you are looking for an excellent cut or color, give the team at Model Citizen a whirl.

I walked into Model Citizen last weekend for the first time, and expected to get a pretty basic trim with a little style (since the salon is so hip, I assumed they’d give me some style). What I didn’t know was that Elyse would cut my hair, add layers, and transform my expectations for all of my future haircuts! Dramatic? nay… truth. I thought that only models could wake up with perfect hair, but now, thanks to Elyse, I wake up with perfect model hair too! Also, she made my super thick, indian mane of hair so incredibly manageable! I cannot be more grateful!!!

I have only seen Michelle here, so this is basically a review for her. She is AWESOME! I am a natural brunette who is currently blonde and she does the most amazing color and cut for my hair. The first time I saw her she took extra time to talk to me about my hair goals (yes, I have hair goals), my styling preferences, etc. and to devise a long-​term plan for getting my color and cut to where I wanted it to be. She is super knowledgeable and fun and easy to talk to also. The front desk staff is always friendly and efficient and the space is aesthetically pleasing. But honestly if Michelle did hair in an alley behind a dumpster I’d still see her.

First time in a small town salon and Elizabeth proved me wrong that small town salons can’t bring big style. She not only gave me the style that I want but cut it in a way it was easy for me to do myself or fall naturally when air dried. Good pricing for good, quality, educated hair professionals. I will return next time I’m in town.

This is my favorite salon in Athens. Shayne has been cutting my hair for about a year and she is fantastic at taming my crazy thick hair. I also never have to worry that I’ll leave the salon looking like my mom! They’re extremely personal and attentive — it’s always an exciting experience to get to spend an afternoon in the salon!

I can not say enough wonderful things about Elizabeth the owner. She recently did the makeup for my wedding and knocked it out of the park for me and all of the wedding party. However — what makes Elizabeth the most amazing person ever is that she fixed four people’s hair — including my own after some disastrous updos. I was I tears thinking I would hate my wedding photos but Elizabeth swooped in and saved the day.

I just had Michelle do my wedding hair (think old Hollywood glamor) and blammo — she’s awesome!
Totally rocked it, great personality, and very low key! She did a wonderful job and the cost was beyond reasonable! Check her out!

I’m new to the area and picked this salon purely on their website (it’ looked hip and cool).
I made an early appointment with Chala who made me feel at home. Talked over my hair «issues» (and I have plenty). Even though Chala is billed as their curly hair girl, she did an incredible job on my short, baby fine, stick straight hair.
The salon is easy to get to, the staff is friendly and it is very clean inside. While the cost of the cut was a little on the pricey side, it was well worth every penny. I’ve spent more money at other salons and gone home with a miserable cut.
I love my cut and she guided me through styling my own hair start to finish.
I’m looking forward to my next appointment.

I have long, straight as a board hair and finding someone who can cut it well is a challenge. When I first came to Athens, I discovered Chance Bracewell and absolutely fell in love with her. It was hard to let her go when she retired, but who could fault her? Like many of her clients, I shifted to Shayne. So, it was a no-​brainer for me to make the jump to Model Citizen. In fact, like so many, I’ve been counting down the days until they open and following their progress with interest. After my trip today with Elizabeth, I can definitely say that I’m a Model Citizen. Elizabeth did a great job giving me the cut I want and then had fun showing me some of the cool tools and products they carry from Moroccan Oil and Kevin Murphy. I couldn’t be happier and have already started lining up friends and family to send their way.
