Please… take heed… Do not move here. I moved in under MAA management. Towards the end of my stay, Bell Partners bought the complex and have since made living here a DISASTER!!! Not only did they fire all of the sweet ladies that worked in the office, the new Regional Manager is a nightmare! She is all over the place– doesn’t remember conversations, makes empty guarantees. I signed an additional 60 days onto my lease, and upon moving out I let the Regional Manager know I would be leaving a few days early. She then laid it on me that in addition to signing on an extra 60 days, I had to inform them that it would be MYLAST60 days. Now they are charging me over $ 1,000 in fees and rent for when I didn’t even live there! They of course charged additional cleaning fees, charged me for utilities when I wasn’t living there! Completely disregarded the conversation we had when I said– I will be leaving on THISDAY. In addition to the disaster they have created in billing me, they changed their policies and totally quit emailing statements, without letting residents know. Which is why I didn’t even know I was being billed for rent when I now live in another state! They are terrible about follow-up! I have contacted them so many times to follow-up on this disaster, with no reply! MAA always took care of maintenance on request, day of or within 2 days. Now under the new management, the maintenance takes days and for me, was dropped mid-repair! I reached out to them about my AC not working mid-summer. It was NEVER corrected fully! We had a soaking, sopping wet huge spot in our carpet from AC leaks until the day we moved out! The repair process was started but never completed. THey came in and tore up carpet, and THAT’S IT! My power bill for a 2 bedroom, 1 bathroom was $ 150-$ 180 a month all summer! And it was STILL hot and muggy in the apartment. My next suggestion, if you absolutely MUST move here, is dO NOTGET A GROUNDFLOORAPARTMENT! Or one without recent renovations. I tell you the truth, my dishwasher FELL out of its unit– completely!!! IT was crazy! The linoleum floors were peeling up, old 80’s style wallpaper was visible in places in the bathroom, and BUGSWERE A DISASTER! Scorpions, roly-poly type bugs lining the walls of my carper where the vacuum could barely get. So even when the exterminator came to kill them, we were left with BUGS lining the walls– dead! Also, the ceilings were so weak, we could hear every move our upstairs neighbor made. Every time they got out of the bed, did laundry, closed a door. I regretted moving here so much. I signed a lease from out-of-state because it looked like a nicer Athens apartment and I thought the price would meet quality. NO. I wish I had moved into the Fairways SO bad, my other option. So much nicer! Same price! Amazing staff! HIGHRIDGEIS A DISASTER!!! If you want to be billed outrageously, pay crazy amounts of utilities, live amongst bugs, in a musty muggy apartment, deal with the rudest of the RUDEST management(and I mean the regional manager, I can’t say this about the apartment manager) you can imagine, swim in a dirty pool that’s surrounded by maintenance, and have a terrible experience at a high price– then you should definitely move here. But please spare yourself. I was miserable here and now have to figure out how to pay them over $ 1,000 before it gets sent to collections… for rent and utilities I JUST found out about, while NOT living there!
