I had to come here in a pinch to work during my supposed vacation. I was able to get a computer with all the access and software I needed to knock out my assignment and get back to enjoying myself. The building is clean and the staff was nice. That’s a great public resource in my book(I didn’t have the spine to resist library puns).

The new renovation here looks great. This is a really nice public library with a fantastic selection of books, music and videos. You can even get/rent audiobooks for FREE online in Georgia through the library system and I really recommend looking into this tightly kept secret! I’m so happy to see Athens invest in its public library system and allow individuals to have access to materials they otherwise would never have access to. Georgia has immense health disparities relative to many other states and free access to the internet, educational text books, novels and other forms of literature are a great step in the right direction!

The renovation is now complete and the library has a self-checkout section in addition to real live employees to assist with needs. I was able to browse at my own pace and then checkout quickly… :D

Once this place finishes construction, it will be wonderful. They have a good collection of books of all types and topics. You can’t go as in-depth as you would at the university library, but this is a great place to start your search for a great book. There are so many public computers. It’s not the best place for privacy or quiet, but if you need a cheap print-out in a flash, this is the place to do it. All ages will find something to read here. Soon, there will be plenty of events to attend as well.

FYI: Someone at the library sent me a message to say that«anyone can use the computers at the Library… you don’t need a library card.» Thanks, Rhiannon!
