Athena Grand Movie Listings

This is the best option for anybody in Wood/​Washington/​Athens county. Compared to the GC Mall in Parkersburg, you have 1) Drastically better seating, 2) Drastically lower ticket and concession prices, and 3) Considerably better picture and sound.

It’s the only place in Athens to watch a movie. So they kinda have a monopoly. But the tickets aren’t expensive, so that’s good. The theater doesn’t have the glitz and glamour of some chain theaters, but theaters are dark so who cares?

i would like to give this zero stars but that’s not an option. as regular movie goers for years (at least once a week) my husband and i and our son as well as friends from out of town went today to a matinée. as always it was hot in the theater. they are too cheap to keep it cool like every other theater in america. i went to the concession stand and asked for them to turn the a/​c down. they said they would tell the manager. about 10 minutes later a very rude manager (grungily dressed and with a huge chip on his shoulder) walks in and yells ‘whoever complained about the a/​c it is a comfortable 73 degrees in here’. i said ‘well it is still hot’. he was hateful and rude the entire time and walked into the theater ready to argue with someone. after he absolutely refused to turn it down i said i would go to another theater from now on. he made a rude comment and to that i called him an asshole as he was walking away. he then kicked us out of the theater which was fine by me. i will never give this place another dime of my money. their concessions are way over priced and their theater is not that nice. i have a more enjoyable experience at the movies ten in nelsonville which is nice and cool and very accommodating to their guests not to mention the fact that they are much cheaper ticket prices and concessions plus have a huge ‘fun barn’. suck it athena grand! btw if you’re going to profess to be a manager or owner you should at least wear a shirt that isn’t 20 years old.
