I am leaving an overview for all of my experiences at Arbor Salon and Spa. I went for a haircut in early June. I have curly hair and hadn’t had a trim in a while. The first hair cut was nice. I was very happy with it.
I attempted to make an appointment for a massage for myself and my mother in law, who was visiting, in early July. I called in and the girl that answered the phone said she didn’t know if any of the packages offered on the website were being honored and she needed to check with the manager. She told me to call back the following Monday. I did. It was a waste of time because I was informed they were closed the Friday I wanted to make an appointment. So, I found a better spa, which I have had many appointments at over the last 3 months.
Now, my most recent appointment, with the worst haircut I have had in 10 years. I told the stylist to only trim off ½ an inch and to leave my layers exactly how they were. Instead, I got 2 inches cut off of my layers and now I look like a big puff ball. (Curly hair shrinks up, so, 2 inches is a huge deal). I specifically said to leave my layers long because I need the weight on my hair to make my curls lay correctly and to keep my hair from getting huge.
So, if you like big, frizzy messes and to have someone take off way more than you discussed — this is the place for you. Over all, I am not going to go back to this salon and I will find somewhere else to go. I would recommend this place to someone I don’t like.

I had my first appointment with Jessica today for highlights and a cut. I’ve gone to a salon in Atlanta for several years and was looking for someone in Athens so I wouldn’t have to drive so far. Jessica was awesome. I told her I was ready for a little change with my color and cut. I told her a couple of ideas that I had but told her I trusted her judgement. The color and cut that she did are amazing. I’m a super happy customer. I will definitely go back and see Jessica again. In fact I’ve already made my next appointment!

i’ve visited arbor two times so far:
1) Today I met with a Ukranian hair stylist named Inna for a bang and hair trim. She gives the BEST head/​scalp massages (which comes with every shampoo + condition!) and clearly told me everything that she was doing before she did it in order to make sure that I was okay with what she was doing. She was also very meticulous and detailed about cutting my hair, which I really appreciated.
2) The first time I visited Arbor a few months ago, I met with Brittany for a pretty daunting task of ombré’ing my hair. A little bit of my hair history: I have naturally dark brown/​black asian hair, but I had been dying my hair at home for the past four years, which was giving me that gold-​blonde color so many asian people usually have. However, I was obviously tired with it and asked Brittany to ombré my hair so that my natural roots could come in and I could grow my dyed hair out as «natural» looking as possible. She did the BEST job! She missed a spot after she was done dying, shampooing, and conditioning my hair, yet she proceeded to re-​dye and re-​mix all of the dye in order to fix that one spot. I get SO many compliments on my ombré even a few months after the appointment! People tell me how «natural» my ombré is, when I’m really just growing my hair out. The process took a good few hours but Brittany was so sweet the entire time!
A little warning though, this salon is more on the pricey side. For example, the 2 inches off of my hair + the bang trim with Inna was $ 51, plus another $ 10 tip for a total of $ 61. The ombré session with Brittany was about $ 150 but I had a coupon which made it a bit cheaper. However, you receive the best customer service and everyone is so sweet!
PS: there’s a cute café literally right next door to the salon — grab a drink before your appointment if you can! however, arbor also provides drinks upon arrival.

Fantastic experience! Wonderful staff from top to bottom and beautiful store! I had my hair and makeup done and was so happy with both! I will continue to use this establishment!

This salon is wonderful, all the staff are super friendly and helpful. Jessica is fantastic, my hair always looks amazing!

Very nice décor, very friendly staff.
After a week of working with my haircut, I think $ 46 is overpriced. I paid $ 42 in Atlanta and the cut was so precision I only had to dry and spritz. This cut — takes more work and not as flattering.
Just not overwhelmed with the color and cut. When u spend nearly $ 200, you want to be really pleased.

I’ve been going to the Arbor Salon and Spa for almost two years now, and I should have written this review a long time ago. I always work with Brittany, but I have yet to meet a staff member that didn’t go out of their way to make me feel welcome. Over the past two years, I’ve had the opportunity to engage in several conversations with the owner, and I can tell you that he is extremely involved in the business and personally ensures that every customer is treated very well. Mike has built a culture around customer service and comfort that most businesses could learn from.
The products and services are reasonable priced and the services are of excellent quality. I have never been unhappy with any service I’ve received, although I am sure it would be made right if I were.
Whether you are looking for salon products, hair care, nail services, skin care, or massage, you are missing out if you don’t check this place out.

Wife and I got pedicures here today; awesome service and great staff. Without a doubt we will do business here again.

Was in Athens for the day and really needed a massage. Called Arbor and they were able to get me in quickly. My therapist, Richie, was incredible. He could tell where I was hurting before I even said anything. It was one of the best massages I’ve ever had. Even the owner Mike took time out of his day to chat with me before my services. What a fantastic place! Now, if I only lived in Athens!

Was visiting Athens from out of town and decided to get a massage on the spur of the moment. I’d only ever received one massage and had a really bad experience (not at Arbor!). They were able to work us in and even offered to call in a therapist early if we couldn’t make the time slot. My massage therapist was Micki and she was WONDERFUL. Very warm and personable and the massage was perfect. Strong enough to do some good, but not so strong that I felt like I was hit by a truck the next day. The atmosphere was clean and modern and the receptionist was super friendly. When we’re back in Athens again, we’ll definitely make appointments.

I was traveling from out of town and found them in the phone book! I went I online to check their website and decided to go for it! I was welcomed with smiles and offers of refreshment! The owner shook my hand and was so friendly. Sherenne was my stylist and she listened to my needs, made recommendations about my dry hair! She then gave me a fabulous haircut! I was so impressed by this salon and spa that I made an appointment for the next day to get a massage! If in Athens GA CHECK IT OUT!

I enjoyed this place, and would highly recommend it. The staff is great! They really helped me out when my appointment got mixed up. I will definitely come back.
