Real deal coffee spot. Dont go here if you want some brewed coffee in two minutes. They make you a true fresh cup of coffee and its awesome! If you’ve never had a pour over this is the spot to try one. Love the small intimate setup they’ve got going on too.

Awesome space and reasonable prices make 1000 faces one of our favorite stops in Athens. Jan is knowledgeable about beans, roasting, and the extraction process. A must visit!

Thank you Nicky for the great recommendations and answering all my coffee/brewing related questions, you and the friendly staff here are awesome. The experience of purchasing a bag of fresh-roasted coffee beans as the Roaster is literally 10ft away roasting another batch is great. And with every bag of coffee you get a 12oz cup of fresh pour over to sample. Excellent, glad I don’t live too far.

I lived in Athens for four years and never once tried 1000 Faces. It wasn’t until I moved to Augusta, and started working as a coffee roaster, that I tried 1000. The coffees they have are meticulously sampled and roasted to perfection. I’m a bit of a coffee douche/purist and they take every aspect of coffee seriously. I love it. Unfortunately I can’t get it enough, but I highly recommend picking up a bag when you can or stopping by their location and having Alex make you a cortado or a pour over. The espresso Savio is a single-origin espresso and it is unbelievable. Keep up the good work, guys and gals. I can’t wait to see what’s next for 1000.

I went to athens in search of the perfect espresso under the guise of showing my wife how charming the town is. Having had less than ideal experiences at the frequently reviewed shops, I boldly searched out the rarely reviewed 1000 faces and found the perfect espresso. The crema had the ideal caramel color interspersed with hints of darkness. The aroma was appetizing. The taste was full bodied and maintained its sweet fullness as it moved back across my palate. I must mention that the baristas — Jan, Sam and a lovely woman whose name I didn’t get in all the excitement — were stellar in their familiarity with and love for bean selection, roasting and espresso extraction. If you are a perfectionist, this is home!

I came out to Athens for a short, 2 week, visit from San Francisco and I am so happy to have found this place. I like to try out different roasters and this looked like the most quality oriented roaster in town. I stopped this morning for their public cupping and had a great time. I got there around 9:20am and thought I was going to miss it, but I lucked out and they decided not to start it till 10am today. As soon as I walked in they offered to make me a pour over of my choice and were very friendly. The Misty Valley caught my eye, so I went with that and I am extremely happy that I did. I enjoyed it so much that I’m going back later in the week to buy a freshly roasted bag of it. Their entire operation seems to take place in one room, so I got to watch them roasting while I chatted with the employees and waited for the cupping to start. They were very friendly and I am looking forward to coming back. I’ve only been here a short time but in my opinion they roast the best coffee in Athens. I highly recommend stopping by and checking them out. The only downside is that they aren’t a full coffee shop, just a roastery. Hopefully one day they can have a coffee shop location. Until then, this is a great place to come pick up a bag of delicious coffee beans and participate in a cupping.

It truly is ‘as good as it gets’. These lil roaster is very active in the little Athens community. They host tasting and all are welcome to stop by for a drink, coffee supplies and beans by donation. You can also find them at the farmers market Sat Bishop Park and the ATL Carter Center Market Sat market.
