Quick stop for gas on our way to SF. Decided to grab a sandwich and glad I stopped here!

I came to the conclusion that I am a city girl, and when it comes to traveling and eating out I feel I need my comfort zone. It was nice to find this place in an unknown town. I like the taste of the food, I had a simple veggie omelette, and it really had great veggies! Chai and a succulent side of avocado. I highly recommend coming here if you are a little snob eater like I am. Voila!

I ordered sandwiches for my Mother’s Day Tea. The sandwiches were delivered and were a big hit. Thank you for making my Mother’s Day easy and carefree.

The pastry chef at French Country takes his job seriously, and you won’t find more exquisitely-prepared, flaky pastries within thirty miles(if you don’t see the cheap donuts you wanted, you’re in the wrong bakery). A local treasure.

So good I had to go back the same day and buy more treats to take home. From the first bite, I was hooked. The blueberry muffin melted in my mouth. When was the last time that happened? They use real butter in their baked items and you can definitely tell the difference. On to the cinnamon-walnut pinwheel. OMG! Went back to pick up almond croissant, plain croissant and powdered sugar wedding cookies. I wished I lived in the area so I could go back every day and try something from their diverse menu of breakfast and lunch items. I hope to be back soon.

I was really excited to try this place since I’ve been spotting it since I moved here. I ordered the eggs Benedicts and it was okay. I hated the hollandaise sauce. I’m a lover of eggs Benedicts and when places don’t get the hollandaise right I instantly don’t like them. And their blueberry scones aren’t even scones at all… It’s just a big square biscuit with 3 pieces of blueberries. My old high school culinary teacher makes better scones. Totally disappointment

Today is our anniversary and I just wanted to take my wife out for an unscripted day of fun. We stopped here for breakfast. It’s a very small place and doesn’t look like much from the outside. We both ordered the eggs Benedict. Just WONDERFUL. Food was amazing. Hollandaise was great. Potatoes were great too. We will be back.

As a local of Atascadero the selections are limited when it comes to sandwiches. The sandwiches here are fresh and delicious. The amount of meat they put on them is awesome and the sauces are an upgrade over the usual mayo/mustard. I love that you can either pair chips or a salad with them as well. Customer service is always top notch and they are willing to tweak the sandwich to your liking. Their pastries are also super hard to pass up so I don’t:) Please give this place a try since it is important to support places like this in our town!

Best breakfast in town! The food is prepared with care unlike some of the greasy spoons in the area. The service is friendly & lunch is great too. Give them a try. Atascadero needs more places like this!

We happened to be looking for a new breakfast place, and found ourselves at French Country. If it weren’t for the bistro sign you’d probably miss it. There was only one person there when we walked in, but my wife and I decided to try it anyways. I ordered the Atascadero scramble, and she got the Cajun omelette. I must say that we will be going back! They were both delicious, decent portions, and extremely affordable. The breakfast menu isn’t huge, but it’s solid. They do lunch with build your own sandwiches. There is a bakery case filled with pastries and fresh made bread. I look forward to returning, and I hope they can stay afloat in this little town. Go check them out!

I have driven past this place a thousand times and never really noticed it was there. Today I noticed it because unlike all the other breakfast places in town, there was no line out the door. My husband and I went in for breakfast, not knowing what to expect, and we were pleasantly surprised! The food was good, the service was great, and the prices were very reasonable. We will definitely be coming back again! I can’t wait to try it for lunch!

I ordered a dozen cupcakes for my husband’s birthday celebration and was quoted $ 3.75 a piece to be picked the next day before 2 p.m. After the staff member checked with the baker, the order was set. The cupcakes were to be of different varieties and decorated somewhat on top. I went into the bakery to see if I could pick them up a little later, I had to be somewhere else and didn’t want to leave them in the car. That wasn’t a problem. I later sent my husband in to pick them up, the staff member/owner, I don’t know who he was, said the baker hadn’t shown up and they weren’t ready, he went in again around 3 they were now ready and was told the amount was $ 35.00. My husband wouldn’t pay that much for 12 cupcakes and was about to walk out. The baker then said he would accept the $ 20 bill my husband had in his hand. These cupcakes were suppose to be varied in flavors and decorated per the baker. When I saw them I couldn’t have been more disappointed. I don’t think the baker ever showed up. They were a basic vanilla, may have been purchased from Von’s and had a thick horrible blue, white and yellow(separately frosted) frosting. Nothing fancy, nothing even remotely nice. I will never go there again for baked goods nor recommend that place. The other two places I had called to order cupcakes never even returned my calls or emails. We just don’t have a decent bakery in Atascadero. How can you mess up cucakes and then charge the customer $ 3.75 a piece. I had to take them to the restaurant, it was too late to find another option. Needless to say this was an embarrassing situation.

2.5 stars overall. Tropical Smoothie: tastes like orange juice with ice and mango skin in almost every sip. Chunky and very lazily put together. Club Sandwich: Mediocre, like something you can make better at home. Chips: Pretty sure they’re Taco Works just thrown next to the sandwich. Potato Salad: Inedible. Too much celery seed, not much flavor. Had to throw out. Waste of $ 2. Service: 3 stars– only 2 guys working and rushing to serve the customers. Said food would be ready in 10 minutes, gave them 20 and they still weren’t ready. Had higher expectations from the reviews but it was just a plummeting experience. :/

I have been here twice and the croissants here are exquisite. Seriously. Super buttery and flaky. The coffee isn’t half bad a little too strong and bitter for my taste. I prefer the almond croissant over anything else there. Pretty mush your standard«French bistro» they bake fresh bread so might give a baguette a try when I make food at home.

The chicken walnut salad was a generous size. And Very Good. It’s unusual that the café had no music going. I had a late late lunch and no one was in there except the staff.

Wow, I just had one of the BEST sandwiches I have ever had. I ordered the turkey avocado sandwich. The smoked turkey was piled high(easily double the meat of some other delis), and the condiments were generous on it as well. Everything seemed super fresh and the bread and red pepper aioli was to die for. The sandwiches come with your choice of chips or a side salad with vinaigrette. Very good deal for the price… the quality and taste are all there. I highly recommend and will definitely be back.
