Just tried to call in to get a meeting of 15 people catered; was going to order about $ 300 worth of food. But they didn’t pick up their phone. Oops.

Zorba’s used to be my go-to place for Greek delivery. The food is good and the delivery is fast almost all the time. I’ve never actually dined in but I have picked up and the service was friendly based on the short interaction I had with the gentleman at the register. My main thing with Zorba’s is their inconsistency to deliver quality food. I’ve ordered from here countless times but I’d say 1 out of 3 orders are bad or incomplete for whatever reason(sticker label found in salad, a foul smell coming from another salad, forgetting pita bread that comes with the meal). I like knowing what I’m going to get without wondering if this time it might not meet the standards as the last time I ordered there. Consistency in a restaurant is key and I can’t say that Zorba’s has it. However, this is a recent development. All three strikes happened within the last 3 months.

Prices and portions at this Greek sit-down restaurant are impressive, but you can get away with a more diner-centric meal if straight up Greek isn’t your bag. This makes Zorba’s an interestingly versatile spot in an area overflowing with both options. Their delivery stands up, as well. I tend to judge Greek restaurants by the quality of their tzatziki, which is a lifelong addiction of mine. That said, I knocked a star off for their tzatziki, which is not as thick/strained as I like it and goes HEAVY on the garlic(which I like, but can be overpowering).

The donner on a pita is super tasty and the spicy feta dip is awesome. They have great pita and the staff is friendly. I love that they have outdoor seating.

I have been on a spinach pie kick for a few months now and lucky for me I live in Astoria! I tried zorba’s a few times for their Chicken Kebobs which were very good but their spinach pie and rice has me coming back again and again. Very large portions and very good prices. I love that their spinach pie has the perfect amount of dill which really makes it delicious! The phyllo is also crispy and quite flavorful. YUMMY!!!

This is a solid choice if you’re hankering for some Mediterranean and don’t want to break the bank. Zorba’s has a family-owned, casual diner feel, perfect if you’re looking for a no frills kind of meal. And honestly, this place doesn’t need frills, the food speaks for itself. I just moved to the neighborhood and have been looking new spots to add to the rotation. Definitely made the right choice. Came here on a weeknight with friend, and I initially wanted to dine al fresco on the tables outside, but it was bit chilly so we sat indoors. The waitress/host was so pleasant and friendly as she took our orders — exactly what you expect from this type of mom and pop establishment. Before I get to the food, I need to mention that beers here are DIRTCHEAP — $ 3.50 for domestics and $ 4.00 for imports. I can’t remember the last time I spent less than $ 5 for a beer at a restaurant. Made me question if I really was in NYC… Anyway, my friend and I decided to split a small greek salad to start, and then go halfsies with the gyro pita and souvlaki pita. The greek salad was on point — very fresh veggies, perfectly dressed, and quality feta on top. As for the pitas, both we’re equally tasty. The gyro meat was juicy and well-seasoned, while the souvlaki was tender and really flavorful. The pita bread was okay, maybe just a tad dried out. Overall, the sandwiches totally hit the spot. The final bill for the two of us came out to $ 30. I mean c’mon…just $ 15/person for a beer and that amount of delicious food? I’ll take that 8 days a week.

The difference between Zorba’s and other multitude of Greek places in the area is that it satisfies the cheap, quick, large potions, no frills kind of meal. In good weather, you can also sit outside which is quite nice. You can get a platter if you are hungry or do a la carte to pick and choose your skewers and sides. The sampler plate is a good way to try everything and it is portioned for two. Everything is very fresh and well prepared. The plates come with a Greek salad to start. The sides are really good especially their lemon potatoes. The service is great, efficient, and with a smile.

I’m so disappointed with the order that I received last night(delivery). I ordered the biftekia plate and my friend had the chicken gyro with fries. I’ve frequented a ton of Greek places in Astoria over the course of several years while living here and never have I seen biftekia made of anything but BEEF. My order of biftekia looked like thin slices of a long, dry meatloaf. I thought to myself, ok it looks a little different than what I’m used to but maybe it tastes the same. As soon as I took one bite I knew it was lamb and not beef. I don’t eat lamb at all so that was completely ruined. I feel like a place should absolutely specify what kind of meat is used in a dish if it deviates from the norm. Had I known the biftekia was lamb I wouldn’t have ordered it. Also, it was more similar to sliced cuts from the spinning meat stick than meat patties like biktekia is supposed to be. I couldn’t eat my meal and ended up giving it to my friend. We were starving and it was too late to call it in and ask for a replacement. My friend’s chicken gyro platter had pieces of dry, grilled chicken mixed in with his soggy fries. What the heck? Who the heck mixes in the fries with the meat??? He had to literally eat forkfuls of chicken along with the fries because it would have taken forever to separate them. Absolutely zero thought went into our dishes. It is baffling how terrible our meals were. I don’t even want to get into the weird runny consistency of the tzazitki sauce. I think the only thing that was decent was the free Greek salad that came with both of our dishes.

Went here for lunch, the portions are pretty big! Fresh hot pita was delicious with the hummus, spicy feta, and eggplant dip! Lots to choose from with a mix of comfort food and Greek/Mediterranean food. Semi-large menu with basically boils down to a lot of variations of basic things — so don’t get overwhelmed. They also offer fresh lemonade and ice tea.

Horrible. Ordered the Greek salad for pick-up only to discover browning lettuce for my consumption when I got back. Not so fresh ingredients = not to return

I’ve had some pretty great souvlakis around NYC but the one I had here takeS the cake for one of the worst I’ve ever had. I got the chicken souvlaki pita deluxe which comes with tomatoes, onion, lettuce and tzatziki sauce, as well as a side of fries. First of all, the sauce was slathered only on one side of the pita, so most of my souvlaki was very dry. Second, I couldn’t find the chicken! I had to keep biting through it until I finally found it, which was disappointingly bland and dry. A good souvlaki should have meat in every bite, and this one failed horribly. It’s as if they had some leftovers and quickly threw it together to make something presentable. The fries were pretty generic, but not bad. Still does not compensate for the 9 bucks I spent on this horrible excuse of a souvlaki.

Came here today while I was running some errands in the neighborhood. I have been here a few times, so I am feeling comfortable to come again and grab a quick lunch or an early dinner. I had the Donner(Pork Gyro) Plate and a coke. The plate comes with a typical greek salad also known as horiatiki salad as well. The salad came first and was good and then the rest of the order. Overall I was satisfied but this time the Donner was a little dry or overcooked I would say thus the 4 stars. Also another thing was that the amount of feta cheese on the salad is little. Prices are reasonable. Having been to Greece, the prices converted were pretty much the same so that was comforting. I definitely got the Greece feel from the outside appearance but the waitress wasn’t so welcoming or friendly. Overall a good place to just visit if you have a craving for Greek food.

This is for delivery order only. Overall, i really like their food. Sometimes it gets a little greasy, but still good. I wish they gave more tatziki sauce with the order and it would be great if they offered a whole wheat pita option. I love their lemon potatoes bit sometimes they run out, sadly. Still, its tasty and usually a quick delivery.
