Friendly, knowledgable staff. The beers are always a broad spectrum from the standard go-to beers for Rogue and some really wild ones. We were waffling over a growler of beer and the bartender helped recommend some good ones to try. The food was perfect pub fare. The fried cheese curds are really why we ate. They use a beer batter instead of breading; this makes a huge difference. We brought our dog; there were plenty of seats outside(bring your jacket) with an amazing view. Water bowls were out and the waitress and bartender both brought our pup treats. If you enjoy beer, have a dog, and/or are hungry for good dank food, go here.

We ended up here because it was a hot day and we had our dog win us and it is pet friendly and that’s the only why it’s getting two stars. We were sorted for 15 minutes before anyone dropped off menus or took our drunk order. The restaurant was pretty empty and it still took over 30 minutes to get our fish and chip order. I’m not a huge fan of big portions, they’re unnecessary but I feel like I got maybe 8 fast food quality French fries and could’ve used a little more as Filler for the basket. Fish and chips were average, not much flavor or depth. Coleslaw tastes like straight mayonnaise, I could’ve had a better meal at a much cheaper establishment. I also ordered coffee which I drank immediately and asked for a refill. Waited for 20 minutes and it never came. The service was terrible for the restaurant being fairly vacant.

So, the experience was mediocre at best. Dining area pretty full. Greeted with smile. «Place your name on list» 30 minute wait. Garage Sale on beer. Ancillary staff seemed irritated we were standing waiting for our table, 4 adults 2 hungry, yet angelically patient kids. Staff was frustrated we did not want to separate our party. One employee loudly voiced to others waiting,” if your name is not on list, probably not going to get a table.” Really! At least make us feel welcome in your house. And to add insult to injury, while waiting a half an hour for our table, we went to the bar and waited to ask for samples of beer that were part of garage sale. Bartender asked in an irritated manner do you need something, with a grimace. We asked for what we wanted. Response = «after I make a few drinks first» and seemed irritated by request. Again, we want to spend money with your establishment. Don’t make us rethink our investment. Finally seated, wait staff was good with kids and dining party. Food was served piping hot. 1 order halibut fish and chips and one albacore fish and chips. 4 pieces albacore 3 pieces of halibut. I got 2 halibut and one albacore on my plate. My dining partner had 3 albacore and my halibut piece. Menu states market price on halibut Execution fail. I expect better execution for a market priced menu item. Garage sale beer arranged and displayed in a very confusing manner with prices from the month before on flyers and it’s memorial day. And not clearly priced. Left full from meal, yet shellshocked from inconsistent service.

Good beer. Service mediocre at best especially at rush time. Fun location out on the pier but the surround are grotty, very industrial –inspiring of hand sanitizer. Food average

Oh my gosh! We have been here almost an hour. There is one person waiting tables. Their menu changed and is really lacking. The kitchen really is filthy, as is the rest of the resturant. I’m going to ask if we can just pay for our drinks and leave without eating since we are so irritated and just want to get out of here! They also forgot my daughters juice. After an hour, we got 2 out of the 3 drinks we ordered. No. Just No. We did end up leaving, as did two other tables of people. Luckily they did not charge me for the soda or Iced Tea.

Good beer. Food is Safeway quality. Service is efficient with little customer concern. If you’re veg, you’re made to feel like you’re just there to annoy them.

The coolest thing was the history of the building. The fries were decent, but the burger I ordered was thrown together haphazardly and had a fishy taste to it. I really wasn’t happy with it, but they were busy so I didn’t complain. Maybe we can try it again another time and I will try something else. But walking through the building seeing all the history was awesome. And the deck around the whole building was great. Seals were out, nice sights!

Love this place! Love the beer! The Food! The location! Is there anything not to like about the Rogue Ale House? Ummm, the toilets are a bit of a walk through a cold warehouse. So, that could be a bad thing I guess. If you are in Astoria this is the place to stop.

45 minute wait in a dead restaurant. Janessa fakes a smile… then delivers cold fries to try and make up for it. Don’t order the slaw tastes like they scraped it from the floor… unless ya’ll like stale. Beer… SUCKS!

Really good service! Great tacos, pizza and kale salad. Of course good beer. And it comes with awesome view from the pier of water and sea lions!

This brewery is located on a pier where you can actually drive your car on to. Parking outside on the pier gets packed easily as there are only a few spots, but there’s also a parking lot in the building. Just know that there are other businesses in the pier building. I had the chicken wings, and ordered them light on the sauce yet extra crispy, which came out as I wanted. They have a large tap list of beers, but can run out quickly. I like that you can try different and unique brews from Rogue that aren’t often in the stores or anywhere else. They also have a nice merchandise store area with apparel, refrigerated brews, fruit sodas, and hard alcohols. When we came here on a Saturday for lunch the place was packed. There was a line of people waiting to be seated in the general dining area. It’s not a huge space. The service is really friendly and efficient, even on the busy day we were here.

Places like these are becoming harder and harder to find. That evening it was pouring rain and I was nervous electing to drive out onto the pier — dark, narrow, visibility limited, and it looked more like a footbridge(kurplunk) than something to support a vehicle. When I got out of the car I could hear seals barking LOUDLY which was both cool and eerie. Rustic interior with lots of history. This was an old cannery(Bubble Bee) turned brew house(and craft whiskey as I found out) adding to its allure. The beer is excellent — I tried the Double Chocolate Stout and the Oatmeal Stout. Worth a trip.

We had our wedding here, the staff was amazing! The meeting room was just what we wanted, nice and intimate. The staff helped us setup and tear down, and waited on us providing everything we needed(including whiskey for a stressed out groom!)

I don’t recommend this place. It’s a mish mash of flavors that are paired in a very illogical manner. More specifically, the items and various parings don’t really work. It was very hard to find something to order and I don’t usually have a hard time doing that. Strike one I ordered a Caesar salad with chicken and then I sat and waited for 39 minutes only to be told that they were out of chicken. How the hell do you run out of chicken? I thought they would allow me to pick something else but they made my salad without chicken and served it to me even though I had asked for a menu to choose something else. The only alternative meat they had was salmon which is a revolting thing to put into a salad IMO. Strike two I opted for a cup of their chili which was average at best for something that was supposedly prepared with wagu beef but found that the taste was way over spiced and the overall quality was not much different what you’d get from a can of Hormel or Denisons. Strike three On balance, compard to numerous other brew pub options, the food was second rate and the service is slow. Their brews are just also average at best but what should one expect from a place that sells a variety of brews including one that looks like Pepto Bismol? I rest my case. This was frankly one of the worst meals that I have had and that’s without mentioning my wife’s burger that was served practically raw and had to be sent back. Fortunately she did not get sick but the whole experience was memorable in in a bad way. Sorry guys, perhaps I was there on an off night but I was not impressed and most of the micro-brew pubs in Astoria are quite good, both the food and the brew.

Beer was good, service was good. Food was terrible and over priced. Ordered Sriracha tacos, which in themselves were pretty good. Served with store-bought, stale tortilla chips, store bought salsa, and brown guacamole(see picture). Friend ordered fish and chips and they were nothing special, but they were $ 17! There is lots of good food in Astoria – skip this place.

Great beers, friendly staff and good food. The only downside is parking is extremely limited, but that’s because it’s ON A PIER! NICE! I recommend getting a sampler, and asking for the seasonals. Also, since you’re on the water get the halibut fish and chips. You won’t regret it. :-D

Nice place to hang out with a group and drink beers… dinner not so much. I came here on a Friday evening and parking was a pain(no parking in the lot or street nearby, spaces underground are tight). I started off with the cheese curds, which were on the oily side, and had the ½ lb Kobe burger, which tasted pretty ordinary and lacked much flavor. The fries were delicious, but came with just a small handful. The view was beautiful and the service was great. The food took a while to come out, so I wouldn’t recommend coming for a quick meal. Locally, I prefer Buoy Beer and Fort George — much better food.

I have to throw points at Rouge Ale Public House for having a great atmosphere, all Rouge ales on tap, friendly service and a view that cannot be beat. This is a great place on a dock on the cold water to have a pint and watch the ships anchor. If the season is right you will find the seals that tourists love and locals tolerate right next to the restaurant. We always go to Rogue out of habit and to buy a new sweatshirt for the year. The restaurant has a lot of apparel lying around in the corner. Their hats, t-shirts and sweatshirts are of very good quality. The rogue can easily become a family tradition. The menu is large but not too large. The food is rustic but fancy. The prices are high and I think that some of the menu items are worth the price while others are not. I like to ask the servers what they like. We came to have a Bacon Burger and some Calamari. The Calamari was beautiful. I loved the light tempura like batter that covered them. I could still see the pretty purple and white color of the little guys. They tasted fresh and sweet. The burger was a honest burger. They sent it out wrong the first time but the server noticed the problem before we did. «That should have bacon on it.» He took it away quickly and brought out a new one within five minutes. Extra points for his sharp eye and knowing our specific order from memory. The Rogue Ale Public House is priced for tourism and I am sure has its ups and downs but it is a one stop experience. They are kid friendly. The menu is very interesting and fun. I recommend it to at least try. It is a place that you can easily fall in love with and make a stop at every time you travel to Astoria.

Don’t –Just don’t do it. Showed up a few months back, and there was a 2 hour wait. No way… I did not leave Vegas to live in Oregon to stand in lines. Nope. So I left, and this time, I called for reservations(their site says they take them.) They don’t take them though, UNLESS you have a party of 12. So we show up and check in. Guy tells us we can wait in bar area. He can see us, as it’s only about six feet from him. We wait, no call. Then we ask. Ohhhh he marked us off and forgot us. We sit –after refusing to sit until the cleaned the filthy table, and we attempt to order. I order Scotch eggs. They are out. Hubby orders clam chowder. They are out. Then she tells us there are also no pizzas. We go to the restroom, which is in the warehouse, not heated and anything but clean. How some of these places get food licenses – well Oregon must be much more lax than Vegas, that’s for sure. As we come back, we go by the kitchen. We see that the kitchen is FILTHY… I don’t mean a little messy, I mean FILTHY and they have dropped food on the floor, appears to be chicken and some fish. They pick them up and put them BACKONTHECOOKINGTRAY. I shuddered… if I didn’t have friends there, I would have left right there. I order kobe chili and a brat. The brat is slimy greasy and stone cold… clearly overcooked at some point, but then sat out too long… Hubby’s salmon chowder is horrid. The wings were tyson. Chili is certainly not kobe beef. Friends have same experience. This food took an hour to arrive. Cold. Take our suggestion. Don’t. Just don’t.

Calamari, Halibut fish ‘n Chips, Chicken Strips, and Clam Chowder to share. Pretty much bar food is what we ordered. We walked in on a Thursday evening about 5. Noticed just a few couples but we opted to eat outside. First the good… our server was great. Even though it was not busy he was the only server and had a lot of territory to cover. I am not much of a beer drinker but I like to taste something new and my husband was not sure which to choose so he picked four for a tasting. It came to a pint of beer. We thought this was a good way to go. They also have a tasting of 7. The Calamari came first. Very small rings and lightly deep fried, they arrived just warm.. As I ate a few they cooled off very quickly and not because we were outside. It was still quite warm. After eating 5 I was done. They started to taste rubbery and not quite right. The Halibut was good after i got past the thick breading. My first bite was very greasy so I took the breading off. Fries were good. Not greasy. The Chicken Strips premade and heated out of a box and not special at all. Very salty. The homemade deep fried Chips were ok. Clam Chowder. Not sure why some places think thick will make it better. Most of the time it tastes like paste because the flavor is overpowered by the thickener and this is what happened here. It came with very greasy, soggy, something bread. I could not tell. It was thin and doggy nose cold. I mean cold. It looked like it should of just come out of the oven, but this certainly did not. We stop here every time we are in Astoria. We may just bypass it next time.
