chicken tikki masala. yum! quick service too. prices for lunch special are great, otherwise the $ 10 price points are okay. i usually order delivery here. it’s one of the only indian restaurants close by to me, so i really have no other choice.

This place is my new favorite Indian place ever since Café Jhill went out of business several months ago(*tears!!!*). It is run by a sweet Bengali family and they have a fantastic early bird special where you can do a buy one get one free between 4 and 6pm — me and the bf take advantage of that just about every weekend, a nice late lunch. The food is top notch and authentic, which is a what really matters to me on a Sunday afternoon in Astoria :) Yes the décor is sparse and the phone ringer is loud but it is cute and homey inside and the huge portions and delicious food more than make up for any shortcomings. Mughal Dinner doesn’t pretend to be fine dining, but is a perfect place to have a homey Indian meal with delicious food, or to get amazing takeout.

The extra star is for the fact that I dont ever want these nice people to go out of business. The food is totally servicable, I’d say truly akin to a «Dinner» or «Diner» if you will. But Indian. The gf loves it and its reasonable to cheap depending on what you get. Try the chicken liver appetizer. Kid you not.

My experience at Mughal Diner(spelled«dinner«on the awning but«diner» on the window) was semi-lame. My bf and I were wandering around Astoria on a Wednesday night and ended up here. It was fairly early but the place was empty except one overweight man it seemed like they paid so he’d sit at a table and make it look like the place had customers.(He left immediately after we sat down) The waiters were all very nice and attentive – filled up our water frequently, etc… but I wasn’t blown away by the food. We got an appetizer sampler(samosa, pakora, etc…) and a vegetable dish(balti special?) that came with rice, naan and raita. We also got a fluorescent-looking mango lassi – very sweet – and an order of roti which came out and just seemed like it was naan with butter on it. Throughout the meal, the restaurant’s phone would ring REALLYLOUDLY with a – I kid you not — Hallelujah-themed ringtone! Pretty tacky. Overall, the food was fine, the prices were reasonable($ 12ish a person) and the service was great. Maybe it was just the fact that it was a Wednesday night and we were the only people in there(plus the phone issue) that made it seem lame. But if I’m really craving Indian food, I’ll probably just head to Jackson Heights next time.

I’ve only gotten take out from here. The food is pretty decent and not greasy.

This is probably the best local Indian restaurant around in Astoria. The place is also a quaint little place and the host is sooooo nice. The only little annoying thing is the ring of their telephone when they get calls for food orders. Other than that, the food is superb, and decently priced(less than $ 10).
